Editorial review from Citysearch 9/14/2013

I would not recommend taking any animal to the SPCA because they kill most of them after 4 days and sometimes immediately when they arrive. They are not concerned with saving lifes only killing them. They are not concerned about neutering and spaying to prevent unwanted pets only making money by killing them. They are a kill shelter with the highest rate of kill ratio in the USA. Over 200 pets are killed daily with no regard for life. It is only a money making business and it thrives on death. Please consider finding a no kill shelter so your pet can have a life sentence not a death sentence. Shame on you SPCA i am ashamed of living in a city where such a place exist!!! more

The SPCA Kills 80% of Animals in Their Care... 12/6/2010

The Frseno's CCSPCA has killed 40,000 animals in the past 12 months--that's 80% of the animals taken in. They have only a 10% adoption rate (5% of which is due to non-profit rescues stepping in and taking animals that were scheduled to be killed), which is dismal. The national average is a 50% kill rate. Good shelters do much better than that. There is a proven solution to the killing, called No-Kill (which means only killing animals that are beyond veterinary care or are too aggressive to safely adopt out) but the CCSPCA refuses to even try. It doesn't cost more (actually saves money in the long-run). To learn more, go to Facebook and do a search for "FixFresno". more

Is there anyone there? 9/1/2010

would like to say i had a good experience but i have a call in to them right now, and when they answered they asked if i could hold for a minute. It has now been over 8 minutes, and i am still on hold. How can you know anything if they have you on ignore? i guess they do not care to have my business. i have four cats and two dogs needing shots and nuetered, now 12 minutes i am hanging up trying somewhere else. more

Just okay service 9/17/2008

The SPCA in Fresno is pretty good. They took care of our dog when he was sick and needed to be put to sleep. We later purchased a dog from them but when our dog got sick within less than a week the veternary hospital wasn't helpful at all!!! more

I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else 11/24/2005

First off, this is great because it is adjacent to the CCSPCA- that makes it very easy for adoptions and their spay and neuter clinic. But what makes you coming back is the loving attention these people give to your animals. Never rushed, they answer all of your questions. Even though it is a bit of drive from Clovis and North Fresno, I find myself continuing to go there simply because I know that they are involved with the CCSPCA, and I like to support them. While I am there I can catch up on the latest clinic news and fundraising efforts, volunteer, or simply give some company to some of the animals waiting for homes. They are reasonable, and competitive with other vets in the area, but they also go the extra mile for you in service by phone checkups, and reminder cards. PROS: price, easy to get an appointment, friendly staff CONS: no cons ;) more
