Greatest massage keeps me returning time and time again 1/31/2011

I've been going to the Brown spa for several years now. My wife and I usually come for special occasions, and always get pampered as expected. But luckily, I had the experience of receiving a massage from Vanessa for the first time. It was so relaxing, and actually worked out my back pain. It was the first time I have received massage and felt the benefits the next day (although I was a bit sore that evening, as to be expected). I will definitely be back to this lovely historic hotel, and their soothing spa. more

THE WORST MASSAGE BY VENESSA! 7/23/2010

Fine dining and excellent service in a wonderful environment 4/12/2009

There is no place like the Brown Palace. Their afternoon tea service is on par with the best in Britain. The historic decor throughout the Brown Palace provides a wonderful feast for the eyes. Both comfortable and refined, there is nothing like the Brown Palace. The Ship Tavern burgers are a special treat, but try not to drip the juices all over your clothes. Pros: Superior food quality and service Cons: Can be pricey more

Awful Massage 4/12/2009

I went to this spa over a year ago and I told the front desk person at the spa that I could barely talk because of laryngitis and she assured me the therapist wouldn't talk. I was so disappointed when all she did was talk and try to make me talk. All I wanted to do was relax with no talking and that didn't happen. I was almost in tears so by the time it was over I couldn't wait to get home I was very sad and dissappointed beyond belief. And most definitely not relaxed.I love the Brown for it's high teas etc.. but never again will I use thier spa services as it was beyond awful. Pros: atmosphere and steamshowers Cons: Unprofessional Massage more

Loved it 2/22/2009

Me and my wife needed a night out on the town and decided to stay a night at the Brown Palace. It was eveything we had hoped for. Great service, clean rooms and complete pampering. It was just what we needed. It is a bit pricy but it was worth it for the experience. -David Pros: Service Cons: Price more

Agreed - this place is horrible for New Years 1/1/2009

I agree with a previous review for this hotel. This place is definitely not recommended for New Years. We had 3 friends come in from out of town and we wanted to take them around to enjoy Denver. First issue is when we booked the hotel they said there is plenty of parking. This is the main reason we chose this hotel. We checked in at 4:00pm and then took our friends around town for awhile. Came back at 8:00pm and they tell us the parking is full. Full? They had quite a few rooms open that night. Second, we had asked for accommodations for 5 people and they said that should be no problem. All we expected was two beds and perhaps a cot. After checkin, they tell us there is nothing they can do for us for accommodations. I'm sorry, but we are not filthy rich and able to drop over $1000 on two rooms for one night. Then, at 1:00am in the morning, they knock on the door and bring in a cot. And this could not have been done earlier? Never again, never again. Pros: located in downtown near everything, has a nice view Cons: staff was horrible, no parking (unless you have the $$$ to drop I suppose) more

A wonderful nights stay with superb and attentive staff!! 9/14/2008

This hotel was a wonderful nights stay. The staff was consistantly attentive and friendly. I felt like I a Queen! The hotel spa was a relaxing retreat. And, again the staff was attentive and friendly. The common areas were always checked and kept in clean tidy order. We had dinner in the Tavern, again - perfection! Pros: Consistant attentive and friendly staff more

Lovely atmosphere 8/28/2008

I loved the spa and the rooms, especially the steam showers...Wow! I love this hotel and the food in Ellyington's. My only complaint was that my massage was a little lacking and my facial was simply not worth it. I had a male provider for my massage and he was light handed (I specified deep tissue). While he was professional I didnt walk away with that OMG feeling that I usually come away from a spa with, I am assuming he is new to the spa profession which says something. My facial was regretful. I am an avid spa participant and I am a preferred client at Canyon Ranch...they have a long way to go with the staff (hire professionals with experiece!) The steam shower was delicous and the ambiance was nice. Pros: the atmosphere Cons: inexperienced staff more

Absolutely the best in Denver. 5/1/2007

I've been to about 5 different spas in Denver and none of them compare to The Brown. At other spas, I've had lackluster massages by newbie massage therpists and pedicures in uncomfortable, tight spaces. They were okay, but nothing really luxurious. At the Brown I've had 5 great massages already. Darcy is my favorite. I've had one very good pedicure. The atmosphere is just so relaxing. It is VERY expensive. But in my mind totally worth it. Its a splurge. Pros: Free valet parking, be sure to tell them you're going to the spa. Darcy. Atmosphere. Cons: Very expensive/automatic 20% tip charge. more

Life of luxury 4/1/2007

WOW! A completely amazing experience! I don't know words that can describe how great this place is. It is so beautiful and relaxing. My massage with Darcy was incredible, and the facial left me looking better than I ever have. I even topped it off with a pedicure because I felt like a whole new person. I was pampered like a queen, you must go here it will make you forget about a bad week. Pros: Everything! more

Dogs, I wanted a hotel for people 12/21/2005

Great historic hotel and rooms. However, not the quietest place. If you like dogs, dog hair in the room, a dog on your bedspread prior to your stay, and dog lying on the chair prior to your stay, and oh yes, a barking dog once in awhile, this is your place. I like a clean room free of pets. I don't want to even think about some dogs butt on my bedspread or chair, uhh. The management should put the pets and owners on one floor and let them enjoy themselves. Oh did I add, barking dogs on ocassion. Great location to downtown but I'm not going back (unless I bring a dog along). Pros: location, historic hotel Cons: dogs, dog hair, dogs barking more

The Best Hotel in Denver! 7/23/2003

This historic hotel has all the amenities anyone would want and more! Their restaurants were spectacular and afternoon tea is a must attend. If you are looking for a place to stay in Denver, this is where you should go! Pros: Great service, Nice views, Luxurious rooms more

The Best Hotel in Denver 1/27/2003

Wonderfully romantic and full of nostalgia. Will always go back when I'm in Denver. more

Don't go for New Years Eve!!! 1/1/2003

It is truly a pity that such a beautiful hotel, with an amazing history, is robbing people at New Years Eve. $743 for one of the best packages available, a great room, a horrid dinner, and the gall to have a CASH BAR! The room and view were very nice, although I couldn't open the window, as the room was ungodly hot. Dinner was the biggest disappointment in the Palace Arms. A tiny starter, inedible, a salad that looks like 4 leaf clovers, and a small piece of steak, that was like chewing rubber. The kicker was the cash bar, $5-6 for a pitiful drink after paying $743 dollars for a nights package. The Radisson was $300 per couple and had an open bar. Please dont waste your money. Pros: Very fancy room, Great Bed, Beautiful hotel Cons: Room was an oven, Food is terrible more

Class and romance all the way! 11/29/2002

The Brown Palace should be rated the number one romantic hotel in the Denver area. The opulance is everwhere, from the grand atrium to the lovely rooms. Couples can enjoy a walk though downtown and sip champagne with afternoon tea. There is no comparison between the Brown Palace and the Inverness Hotel. Please don't include business people's ratings of wonderful golf with romance. more

Wonderful!!! 9/19/2002

A wonderful hotel with fabulous service. The rooms are exquisite and the restaurants are top notch. A real luxury experience in the Heart of Denver. Pros: Great Service, Wonderful Rooms, Valet Parking more

The Grande Dame of Denver 8/27/2002

My wife & I spent our wedding night at the Brown Palace, before heading out for our honeymoon the next day. We hosted an impromptu after-party at the Ship's Tavern, with about 25 friends & family. One waitress was able to handle the comings & goings, and get everyone's order delivered. Our room was a high-floor suite. Very romantic! Champange was awaiting us in our room. Every request was handled promptly and graciously. more

The suite life 7/15/2002

Although I cannot compare my experiences of luxury hotels to much, of what I have experienced, this is the absolute best. We stayed there for our wedding night and by some stroke of nature, we were upgraded to the Presidental Suite. While the suite itself was large and full of hidden surprises, the hotel itself was grand and historic. I cannot say enough about the service, the ammenities and the atmosphere. Definitely one of the best in the west. Pros: posh atmosphere, incredible service Cons: inconvenient parking more
