Not A Real Irish Pub 11/11/2009

Typical fake Irish pub. Called to see if they had Ireland vs France World Cup qualifier and not only did they have no idea what I was talking about, but after explaining they said oh ,if it's on TV,wow. You have ""Irish pub"" in your name, what a joke. Pros: serve beer Cons: Fake Irish pub more

The Most Relaxed and Decent Bar on the Westside 10/22/2009

I've never had more fun at a bar than I've had at Sunday Night Karaoke at Sonnys. Everyone is really friendly and inviting, the whole bar sings along and it's all set in a Boston style sports bahhh. Sox games pack the house, so make sure to call ahead if you want to attend on those days. Tap selection is decent, darts are free, the blackboard in the bathroom is full of banter and they recently nabbed a whole bunch of widescreen TVs. Being a restaurant too, they don't card at the door, only at the bar. The food is fine. No hard alcohol, but wine and cider for the few who can't enjoy beer! Pros: Cozy feel Cons: No hard alcohol more

Terrible food, rude waitress and no liquor!?!? 3/4/2009

Went with a friend to trivia night last night. She really likes the trivia night-- claims last night was an ""off night"" for the bar in general. All I know is that the waitress was rude, the food was really, really bad and they only serve beer, wine and some other sort of ""rice"" alcohol that the waitress wouldn't (or couldn't) explain to me. I am from New England and this is just a poor, poor copy of the real thing. Won't go back unless my friend makes me. Cons: Really bad food (even for bar food), no hard alcohol, just tacky in general more

love this place! 11/10/2008

really good and decent priced food for the kind of place it is,..sometimes music gets loud but if you comment the bartender will take care of it, friendly ,kind, efficient ,nice bartenders all around; parking not so great,.not much cleanliness in restrooms tho; way to get in if youre late and there'a boston anyhting game going on, but great environemnt and people, employees and cusotmers friendly, a great casual neighborhood beer and wine food place to hang at! they welcome you there! Pros: great welcoming service Cons: not great parking, really only on wilshire more

Don't go there if you're from out of town! 10/8/2008

I was looking forward to watching the ALDS clincher against the Angels. I drove 45 minutes from Arcadia to be with other Sox fans and I was told I could not sit down at an open table for 2 because I was by myself.\r \r I was in town on business and was dissed by a young waitress. So I left and went to Fat Fenner's in Hermosa Beach. They welcome all of Red Sox Nation.\r \r Too many rules and look at you strange if you're not a regular. Good Luck Sonny!!\r Pros: I did not stick around since I was not allowed to sit because I was by myself Cons: See above. Very snobby crowd and workers. more

Feels like you never left Boston 6/5/2008

Those of you from Boston living out here, this place is a must go-to! From the Boston sports teams paraphernalia on the walls, this cozy pub is the perfect place to have a Guinness and trash talk the Yankees! The pub often has karaoke too, which just takes it to that next level of awesomeness. more

This Place is Wicked Awesome- It's Like ""Cheers"" for the West Siiiide 12/21/2006

How can you go wrong with a Boston sports bar, smack-dab in the middle of Wilshire with not one, but TWO nights devoted to karaoke? Sonny's is a north-easterner's haven for beer, greasy apps and a good time. Chances are you will run into someone you know or someone who knows someone you know, which is why it's a lot like ""Cheers"" the TV show, not the real one underneath the Hampshire House, off Beacon in Beantown. Prices are extremely reasonable, karaoke on Wednesdays and Sundays- after whatever Boston game has been played. Walls have Boston sports memorabilia and they also have the honor of being the only place west of the Mississippi where the World Series trophy was displayed! Bronson Arroyo and Damon the Defector were known to do karaoke back in their day ... so, you never know who just might show up! Yankee Fans-- you stay away, ya hear? Pros: Watch BoSox, Pats and Celts games with your East Coast neighbors; the beer and the attitude! Cons: Can't think of one... more

West side dive 11/15/2006

Great place to go if your sick of the trendy west side bars. No cover, no dress code, darts, a wide variety of beer. If your looking for a hassle free good time, Sonny's is the place to be. Pros: only beer Cons: only beer more

So not LA 11/9/2006

If you are in the mood to escape the typical LA Scene then Sonny McLeans is the place to be! The crowd is extremely mixed and easy going. It is a great place to grab a beer without worrying about wearing last season's jeans. Pros: No guestlist Cons: No hard liquor more

Cool Bar to hang out and watch the game 2/13/2006

the first time i ever went there i wanted a jack and coke but they dont serve hard liquer, bummer. they more than make up for it with cheap pitchers of beer. the workers are great, when they come around to you. the people that go there are great and there arre no problems. very friendly place to hang out with your friends and have a blast Pros: cheap beer, people Cons: no hard drinks more

User review by sgfood 9/6/2005

Bosten/American Irish, but a decent copy of the real thing. Hotest spot on the Westside fot Boston sports on TV. more

Great Bar 3/14/2004

Great place to grab a beer after work or relax watching a game. Service is friendly and there is plenty of cold beer on tap. If you are hungry grab some authentic Guinness Pie or the Best Clam Chowdah west of Worcester. Pros: Plenty of Beer on tap, Good Food, Service more

the BEST DAMN BOSTON SPORTS bar in cali! 1/28/2004

thru the grapevine, sonny's was recommended as the #1 bar for New England fans. we got there a bit late for the AFC Championship game and heard they were turning heads away for over an hour. being from outta town and a bunch of girls sporting our Brady pride, the nice bouncer immediately allowed us in. this bar is the MOST KICKASS place to watch any Boston sports team on T.V. the atmosphere is equivalent to being at an actual game, if not even better! everyone is friendly, warm and totally hardcore! thank u Sonny's - u are one reason i will be making a comfortable move to LA! GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Guiness is Great! 1/2/2004

This place is great. Good food, good people, and good drinks. It has everything you need; a great bar to drink at, tables to get together with friends, as well as darts and pool for some friendly competition. The many TV screens make it easy to catch up on what's happening in sports. Hopefuly you like Boston. Pros: Good Beer, Good Service, Good Music Cons: No Liquor more

""hello... I need a Beer!"" 8/21/2003

Sonnys is a good place. Fun, social and not too flashy. No trendy hollyweird people wearing trucker hats. Just normal people in normal clothes. Good prices and lots of beer. Karaoke with bad singers. The way it's supposed to be. I recommend it. They have Anchor Steam on tap! Pros: beer selection, people, atmosphere Cons: slow service, seating more

Friendly and Inviting Hang Out 2/10/2003

I just had dinner there to celebrate my birthday. I selected the place because it's close to everyone I know. Not having been there before, I went there not knowing what to expect. As it turned out, the place is incredibly inviting, aesthetically and personally. I would recommend the place to anyone looking for a place to celebrate an occasion with a large group of friends or anyone looking for a friendly place to just hang out. To those at Sonny's... CHEERS! Pros: Friendly service, Good beer selection, Good menu Cons: No hard alcohol more

Quality east coast pub! 12/5/2002

It took a while, but this is the kind of place I was looking for. Totally unpretentions, come as you are, getting together with friends bar. All kinds of different people, good place to watch sports, quality food, darts, pool. If you're looking for a bar that's not all ""LA"" or are a misplaced Beantowner wondering where all the regular people went, this is the place for you. Pros: cheap, beer selection, straight up pub Cons: empty some nights, crappy jukebox more

Transplanted New Englander heaven! 9/24/2002

In desperate search of a) a bar open at 10AM, that b) was showing last Sunday's Patriots game, we stumbled upon this wonderful pub that made me feel like I was back in Beantown. FINALLY, some diehard sports fans! And diehard BOSTON sports fans! (Is there really such thing as a diehard LA fan anyway? Ask the Rams and the Raiders.) Thanks to the owners for this Boston sports shrine in the middle of Santa Monica. You make it easier to live on the left coast. GO PATS!!!!! Pros: Spirited, Warm more
