Fantastic and Authentic Soba 1/24/2006

Soba, or buckwheat noodles, in soup are a mainstay in Japan for lunch any day. The soup is simple - soba noodles some scallions and seaweed - and you eat it with chopsticks and your hands - no spoon. It's a lot of fun to eat in Japan - and at Soba Nippon, it's an extremely similar feeling. The soba is great - very authentic tasting and you can mix in things that you like like this pickled radish stuff or wasabi. You also sit on the floor and it's a really fun experience. I highly recommend it if you're interested in a taste of Japan. more

Mouthwatering sushi 8/31/2005

This is some of the freshest sushi I have had in the midtown area. I came here for lunch and the staff was prompt and efficient. The soba salads are delicious as is the sushi. The best day to come is on Tuesday since that is when fish is usally freshest in the city. more

sex oh wait soba and the city... 8/19/2005

Shot for an episode of Sex in the City, this midtown traditional soba house offers some fresh home-made soba noodles. The people here at Soba Nippon really seem extremely proud of their efforts to offer amazing service as well as the most tasty cold soba noodles I've had. If you like your pasta al dente, the chewy texture of these noodles are so complimentary to the dipping sauce. I prefer to add scallions and wasabi, C likes hers plain... both of us agree that it was an experience, especially on such a humid summer evening, and so refreshing as a dinner! Appetizers such as the soft shell crab, the potato salad, and the agadashi tofu were so tasty! We were not disappointed! Our meal ended with tapioca filled red beans, and we left vowing to return soon! more
