BEWARE. Carol O-Brien is not qualified to do laser procedures and I am not clear how she is operating this place. It is all very shady. She has a Cosmology license and trained at a defunct beauty school, where she was taught how to cut hair and do manicure, pedicure, waxing etc.
Further she uses lasers that are completely outdated technologically.
I went here based on the yelp reviews and I am DREADFULLY disappointed. Also I have come to realize that most of these reviews for SMOOTH are most likely written by the owner herself, since most of the reviewers have only written one review and further have the same style and tone of writing.
I had light, superficial sun spots on my face for which a dermatologist recommended the Revlite laser. I had the laser treatment done by the dermatologist and was thrilled with the results. Since the treatment at my dermatologists office is really expensive, I decided to check out other places that have a Revlite laser. I found Carol on Yelp and decided to go to her shop (its not a clinic since she is not a doctor or nurse practitioner & its not a spa since she is not even an aesthetician).
When I met Carol O'Brien, she seemed honest and trustworthy, which I have come to realize was a big mistake. Carol told me that she did not have the Revlite laser but that she had the Medlite laser, which she convinced me was exactly the same and that the new name was simply a marketing gimmick used by the company that manufactures these lasers. Later I found out that this was a big LIE. The laser Carol has is more than 11 years old and since then technology has advanced a lot and in fact the company released 2 newer versions of the Medlite laser. So basically Carol uses a very, very, outdated Medlite laser.
Carol showed me a lot of albums with supposed success stories of treating sun spots. Based on my previous positive experience with lasers, I decided to try a small spot on my cheek bone. I came to realize, Carol is completely not knowledgeable about how to use lasers. She completely BURNT my face with the laser and she is so ignorant that she didn't know that she should stop using the laser, if my skin started to burn. My skin developed a nasty blister on the spot where she used the laser and now I have an UGLY and dark brown patch on my cheek.
The worst was yet to come. When I went back in to talk to Carol about the ugly brown patch on my skin, she had absolutely no explanation, advice, recommendations, or next steps on what my options could be etc. That is when I realized that she is a complete FAKE and should not be operating lasers. She has no knowledge about skin chemistry and does not understand laser technology. She is extremely arrogant and takes no responsibility. She is arrogant enough to think that dermatologists don't know anymore about skin than her.
I went back to see my dermatologist and he explained to me what happened and told me that I should never allow an unskilled person to use laser on my skin.
Please do not go here and instead find someone who maybe is a bit more expensive but skilled and qualified to do laser treatments.
