Smalls is a basement jazz club in the West Village that is the spot for when bars and clubs close, but you still don't want to go home. Open until the wee hours of the morning, let the drinks flow into a sweet buzz while listening to local jazz groups do their thing. Admittedly, not everyone's a jazz aficionado. But something about this place makes it an ideal, chilled out afterhours, rather than trying to blend into a rave in Brooklyn for the sake of not wanting to go home. And that counts for something.
