Quirky decor and mostly forgettable food, but a convenient East Village stop.

Best Coffee Martini Ever!! 5/8/2010

We don't usually go to Simone's, but Last Saturday my friends and i were looking for a new spot to hang out.for some reason this is one of those places i'm always passing by and never come in....after sitting down, we were amazed by the fun decoration and the good music. We ordered a coffee martini by recommendation of the waitress and were pleasantly surprised to finally find a good martini spot in the East Village..even the prices weren't too high for a big portion.the server was friendly and nice and kept entertaining us which was a lot of fun. We ended up staying for awhile and have a great time. We might found the new spot we were looking for and we'll definitely come back. Pros: Great Service, Fantastic Martinis more

Cool, funky vibe ! 5/6/2010

Went to see Sia perform Thurs night which was off the hook....headed straight to the EV afterwards for drinks & ended up at Simone, there was seven of us in our group & it was the perfect spot to end up after such a great start to the nite....the staff where fun & attentive & when we told our waitress we had just been to see Sia she asked the bartender to play a little of her music which he happily complied....very cool, very sweet & the music they where playing for the rest of the nite was also off the hook !!! Love it !!! will definitely be back very soon !! Pros: Beautiful decor, great energy, extensive drinks menu more

nighttime fun time.. 5/6/2010

Came across this East Village lounge type bar and found the place upbeat and funky, easy access to outside seats and great people watching off St Mark's on a Fri night......drinks were cool with lots of tasty martinis for my date to try.....and that always a good thing...:) worth checking Pros: atmosphere & location Cons: busy.. more

Simone martini bar 5/3/2010

The other day I went by Simone Martini Bar in the East Village and it looks like things there changed a lot, the service was great, the waiters where nice, the music was pleasant with great sound, they also have an amazing happy hour with a large selection to choose from... A Complete Transformation!!! I'VE BEEN TOLD THEY HAVE NEW MANAGEMENT!!! good for them, SImone rocks again !! Pros: grate martinis , exellant happy hour , outdoor sitting more

RUDE service, okay martinis at best 9/19/2009

I ordered a straight martini & was dissappointed. I was also underwhelmed when a waitress - not even the one who served us - came over and demanded a higher tip!! INCREDIBLY RUDE. I don't plan to ever go here again. Pros: fancy, sugary martinis more

Best martini 3/4/2009

My favorite key lime martini more

Cool 3/4/2009

Coolest place in NYC more

Rude, bitter and not worth your time 10/12/2008

I don't know what the last reviewer was talking about, I went in last night and was yelled at by a bitter bartender who accused me of trying to use the bathroom without buying anything while my boyfriend was trying to get his attention to order our drinks. The only thing worse than his accusations was the strong arming bus boy who saw fit to run up and slam the bathroom door as I was trying to open it. Do yourself a favor, go to any one of the million other bars in the area, this one is tiny and run by simpletons. Pros: it doesn't take up much space Cons: terrible staff, boring decor more

Worst Food and Service In NY, but good pit stop for a BATHROOM break 6/18/2008

The food here is barely palatable, and the drinks are worse (I seriously think that they substitute whatever was in the top shelf liquor bottles with cheap stuff, and same for the wine!). But this place is located in St Marks and if you need a place for a bathroom break, they will let you use it no problem! Just walk right in, you don't have to buy drinks or anything. Pros: The bathrooms for sure! Cons: Everything else. more

Bad experiences 5/29/2008

On one occasion I didn't even stay because upon walking in my friend and I stopped looked at each... I quietly said, "It smells like urine in here." He replied, "It does. Let's go." About that time the waiter walked up to us and snapped "Are you having dinner?" No, we're leaving, thanks! Another time, because it was the closest bar, I went in with a friend to get a drink and the bartender, after ignoring us to continue his conversation with the barback/waiter/whatever, acted as if he was doing us a favor by taking our order and serving us badly watered down gin and tonics. I'd never go in there again. more

Used to love it but turned of by dumb policy. 2/3/2007

I have always loved Simone. The whole atmosphere, the gogeous decor, the menu, and the great espresso. I live in the neighborhood so I'd even stop in for coffee to go just because it was so good. Unfortunately they just lost me as a customer. I stopped with a freind after a show at nearby PS122 to get a late dinner. When I asked for tea with my dinner I was told that they did not serve tea at night. I asked why and I was told "for business reasons." Um, I was about to give you three bucks for something that costs you a nickle. If you think you'll sell more booze because you won't sell tea you're crazy. Either I'm drinking or I'm not. If you're concerned about people taking up tables just for tea and coffee then put a minnimum on the table. We were BUYING DINNER! It's just irritating and bad customer service to refuse to serve tea to a customer. Whatever manager made that decision should be fired. Pros: Great looking Cons: Rude, Unpleasant, more

Not just a bar, but a lifechanging experience. 1/11/2007

This is a great bar with a great service, and that comes from a European guy (sorry Americans, we know what beer is and you guyz don't). I'll save my compliments about food/drinks etc' coz these are not the reason we go to bars. We go to have fun, and that's what ur'e gonna get, guaranteed. There was this waitress there, Israeli girl named Oritte, so cute, never stopped smiling and was funnier than anything u can catch on your mind-numbing television. Oritte - remmember me, Kev? call me!!! i'm darn serious!!! your'e the cutest thing ever!!!! Pros: Service, atmosphere more

SUPER RUDE - NEVER GO THERE 12/12/2006

At about 2pm on a weekday was on my way in for a drink. First I needed to use the restroom. As I walked towards the restrooms I hear "SIR, SIR, EXCUSE ME SIR, CAN I HELP YOU?" this was coming from 2 or 3 people, the bartender and maybe a couple of managers or something. When I said I needed to use the restroom they shot back that it's for customers only. "so I can't use the restroom?", NO they reply. So I walked out and took my business elsewhere. I can't stand rudeness from people I'm about to give money to. By the way the 3 people who were yelling at me that I couldn't use the restroom comprised 75% of all the people in the bar!!!! You'd think they would love to get people in that didn't work there, people who will spend money. Pros: The place looks nice Cons: PEOPLE THAT WOKR THERE ARE NOT NICE more

Great date place for all couples. ;-) 11/28/2006

Terrific place to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink--great date or small group atmosphere. Sultry decor--red and gold wall coverigns, faux crystal chandelliers, loveseats and small tables. A diverse menu. The chicken breast on focaccia and goat cheese grill cheese were both wonderful. Pros: Service, Menu, Drinks. Cons: none more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! 11/7/2006

#1 even though they have cofee and tea on the menu the weitress refused to serve it to us, even after our meals. #2 they charge you tip and include it somewhere in the middle of the bill so you won't notice that the bill already includes the tip (for parties of 6 i think) #3 they charge tax on tip #4 after we complained about the amount of tip wich was in total of 28% the weitress used cursed us out. #5 the manager was not there and they wouldn't eve give us the name of the manager ...... Pros: none Cons: service!!! more

Hip and trendy with great service and tasty menu. 11/1/2006

My Boyfriend and I just love this place. We like to sit outside or near the window to people watch as we enjoy martini's or glasses of wine. Great service for lunch or dinner. Outstanding quiche and fresh soups. Yum! Pros: Location, service, food. Cons: none more

otherwise ok place sunk by lousy service 4/23/2006

I *wanted* to like it: great brothel-posh decor; tasty (but weak) drinks... and absolutely TERRIBLE service. Rotated between 3 waitresses, 2 of whom seemed irritated by us. Waited 15+ min. for a beer - not a specialty drink that needed preparing, not even a draft beer - a bottled beer. Got it about 5 min. *after* asking waitress about it (was met with curt sarcasm). Waited another 20 min. for a piece of pie. When we left a 10 or 11% tip, one waitress ran after us, stood in front of the door, and lectured us on leaving a proper tip. When we cited slow, rude service and weak drinks, she only replied that we could've requested the drinks be made stronger. When asked if this would be done for free, she literally rolled her eyes and sneered, "No." Never, ever going back. Pros: cool decor Cons: overpriced, weak drinks, AWFUL SERVICE more

Oh my lord! The food! I had some sort of chicken/watercress/sweet peppers hot sandwich and every bite of it was to be slowly savoured. And perfect homemade tart lemonade. Nice place to linger over your food. more
