Great improvement has been made 7/1/2011

I have lived at Silver Springs going on 5 years & when I read the reviews before mine I had to stand in defense of Silver Springs - this has been my 3rd apartment that I have lived in & by far the best place I have lived - from the friendly office staff to the knowledgeable maintenance men. Of course there have been problems in my apartment, this is an older complex & I expect that, but my issues have always been addressed. \r I just recently went to the office with all intent of giving my notice to leave, due to the fact I wanted something a little more updated, after talking to the office staff I found out that they were in the process of remodeling/updating their apartments! Since I had such a great experiance I decided to ""upgrade"". I have been in my new apartment now for 3 weeks & things couldn't be better - the apartment was above & beyond what I expected, when I walked in it looked like a brand new apartment that no one had lived in before! So glad I talked with Meagan in the office, without her I would have gone down the street, got a new apartment & paid ALOT more money. I plan on staying in my ""new"" apartment for a long time. more

Great Place to live 12/29/2010

I lived at Silver Springs for two years and just recently moved out of the complex because I bought a house. During my two years there I never had a problem that the office staff and maintenance guys could not help me with. The thing I liked the most is all I had to do was communicate what was bothering me and they did their best to fix the problem!! No complex is perfect but by far the best one I have ever lived at and I have lived in about four other apartments. I would highly recommend this place to anyone to live at. They do their best to make you happy with your place. I also really liked the options of being able to use the outdoor pools at their other locations. Also when I moved out I got my full deposit back. I did a walk through with the office staff and they told me a few things I needed to fix. That lead me to a full refund. Again I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing a place to live. It seems as though only people who have had a bad experience wants to put a review up here but trust me a great place to live!! more

Worst Apartments Ive ever lived in! 3/31/2010

Do you like your stuff being stolen? Do you like when your shower water turns ice cold after 3 minutes? Do you like when managment calls you a liar?\r \r Silver Springs is the place for you!!!\r \r Me and my boyfriend have lived here for 5 months and are itching to get out. The very first week we had a clogged toilet and maitenence said dont shove half a roll of toilet paper down it, like we were 5 year olds.\r \r Our shower water would be nice for a minute or two, and then would turn freezing. I would have to adjust the knob to give me a little more warm water but that would only last a minute before doing it again. I have never had warm water for over 5 minutes. maitenence said that we can buy a new showerhead with little pressure. it would make water trickle out of it, but it might last longer. this is upsetting becuase we pay for water. $20 more each month than what they quoted.\r \r When the maitenence man came in to ""fix"" the problem, he walked across the clean carpet with muddy shoes. when we complained about it, they said that they reccomend buying a door mat! Well, we did just because we wanted one to add a bit of touch to our small space outside. It was stolen 2 days later.\r \r Bugs. Spiders, earwigs, bugs ive never even seen before. \r \r They said that because the apartment is smaller than our last that we should see a huge drop in electric costs. every month has been over $50 more than i usually pay. and we still freeze. i dont understand how i can run this bill up enough but still have to walk around with a blanket. Maybe because the big slider door right next to the main door (which is pointless, unless you like your close neighbors to be able to see everything you own in your home) is freezing cold. we can not sit anywhere near that side of the apartment.\r \r I have had issues with noisy neighbors before in other apartments, so before we moved in, i asked if the person above us would be able to make any noises that would get through to us. she said no. there is a lot of barrier between residents... How can this girl that can not weigh more than 100lbs sound like godzilla doing aerobics? and our neighbor that lives in the building next to us is up all hours of night, and talks on her phone outside and we hear it as if she is yelling inside our apartment.\r \r I am in the last days of my pregnancy, and after seeing the parking, i was very unhappy that i had to talk a quarter of a mile (no exaggeration) from my car to the apartment. During January it was extremely icy and i had almost fallen twice because no one clears the drives. Managment said they were sorry but there was nothing that they could do. they could not give me any special treatment. The next time it snowed I did fall and was hurt. Thankfully the baby is ok. but it did show me how much they actually care. I wasnt asking for a spot right in front of my apartment, but close enough where i did not have to worry about walking a long distance and slipping.\r \r When we were finding a place to move out, we went in on the 4th of march to drop off our check and to say, (and i quote) ""this will be the last month we stay here. so what do we need to do?"" The woman said we were good and nothing else was needed. Well, now we are trying to move out but i was told that they needed it in writing! i was furiated! i told them that me and my boyfriend made it very clear that we would not be staying any longer and we needed to take care of that, and we were under the impression that the woman helping us noted that and we could leave at the end of the month. i asked if we needed anything else to be sure and she said no.\r \r managment said that we could leave and not pay, but it would ruin our credit because we would still owe. They admit that it was their mistake that they did not take the steps they needed to, but it was still our problem and they would not do anything about the $500 we put down on our new apartment. Pros: a roof over your head, great exercise walking from your car Cons: management has the intellegence of a 3 year old. more

2 years, good experience overall 2/22/2009

My husband and I looked at several apartments before finally choosing Silver Springs. We like the fact that you could get a nicer apartment for a decent amount in monthly rent on the West side of town. We lived there for two years and overall our experience there was great. Anytime we ever had a maintence issue it was quickly resolved. Managment was always very polite and helpful, even in moving out. In the middle of summer (99 degress) our air conditioner went out, we called during the middle of the night and by 8 am the following morning it was fixed and running. We really enjoyed our time there, our neighbors were polite, only every now and then College Kids would party. Parking was the one issue that we dealt with on a regular basis! they need ALOT more spaces and also maybe consider ""assigned"" parking. Very safe place to live; We do not have children but if we did we would feel that they were safe here. All in All if we ever needed to live here again, we would without hesitatioin! - hondaciviccouple09 Pros: Location to Resturants & stores Cons: Limited parking & not very updated more

Understaffed, and Bad apartments 5/12/2008

I have lived in Silver Springs for almost a year now. We were supposed to move in on a Thursday, we packed everything that morning, went to the office to get our key to move in and they said they had not had a chance to clean it yet, and the maintaince man was cleaning the carpets now. The carpet was in HORRIBLE condition. It was coming up around every wall and at every doorway leaving tack strips exposed. We moved in on wet carpet so it got very dirty very fast. There was many stains on the carpet. I tried to get new carpet three times, and they did not show up to any apointment that I set with them to come look at the carpet after I took off work to try to accomidate the offices limited hours. Besides the carpet we had holes in our wall and doors. One of our doors was held up by 25 rubber bands, and it had a horrible smell of smoke. The tile in the kitchen and laundry room was just set down on top of old tile (not glued) and they were all coming up. The bathroom in the master bedroom had a slow leak from the ceiling any time the neighbors took a shower. After calling 4 times they finaly came out to fix it. I had a hole in my ceiling for 3 days before they came to patch it up. Four days later it began leaking again. The ceiling in the other bathroom is peeling off and in a large part of it we are down to sheet rock, and they said it is ok they do not need to fix it. I am friends with a few other people in the complex and I know that we got a lemon of an apartment but the offices lack of ability to get it fixed is irritating. I will be moving out in October as soon as my house is done being built! On top of a bad apartment in general, there has been 2 fires One Oct 28th that took out a whole building and one last week that for some reason they are being hush hush about. They say it did not happen, but the fire trucks tell me otherwise more

Never moved in 12/17/2007

Here's my experience, though somewhat limited. The nice looking office girl will show you a nice looking demo apartment. You decide that it is a good deal for the money and sign up including a non-refundable $200 deposit. Then, when you actually go to look at the apartment that you will actually be moving into you will find that it is not quite as nice as the demo model. In fact, the apartment that I looked at had a distinctive smoke odor to it. The weather-stripping for the front door was gone. You could see light coming up the hallway and the door could flop back and forth about 0.375"" inside the casing. The paint inside the apartment looked nice, but the little porch outside was peeling badly. The place had a bit of a run-down appearance in general. If you then decide to change your mind that what was advertised did not match the final product, then they will not budge an inch to give back the deposit. Just a heads up to see your actual unit before you hand over any money. The problem is they will likely not let you see it because it needs cleaning or something. So when you visit the demo model just imagine a smoke smell and some peeling paint and missing weatherstripping etc when making your decision.\r \r P.S. I thought that some of the apartments on the east side for a bit more money were a better deal.... more
