Horrible service and never to go again 6/20/2011

When I moved to saginaw, all my friends told me not to go to here, but from the pictures, it looked like the best salon out here. So i went for a haircut and color. As the stylist was drying my hair after color, I told her, it doesn't look like I colored my hair at all. She assured me color will start to show after few wash and assured me that she will take care of me if it doesn't. I walked out of the salon looking exactly the same as when i walked in... cut was horrible as well. I called the salon in 2 weeks because my color didn't come out at all. They initially was giving me all the excuses in the world about giving me an appointment and then told me I have to pay again for color. So, ya NEVER AGAIN. I should have trusted my friends who had similar experiences. more

I have been a client at Shapers for over 5 years now and have decided to move on. Not only has the front end staff only recently remembered my name despite having bangs trimmed roughly every 10 days for the last 2 years but I always have to wait and wait and wait in the waiting room, again despite the fact that I always call ahead to inquire if my stylist is running behind. The waiting room is like a no mans land, void of any magazines or hair styling books. The books would be extremely helpful because my stylist refuses to give me a consultation regarding my locks. I am very open to new styles and eager to try them so much so that I have asked point blank, stating, that I didnt know what I wanted to do, I want a change, your the professional. Silence. I left that day after paying over 50$ ( as I do each time) after tipping, with uneven hair and no suggestions and swore never to return. Im off to Ana whatever to give them a rip. Too bad Im a great client to have and local business owner with many many clients. I will say this, when I had a pic of a style to copy, it was done to my satisfaction, and done well. I receive many compliments so I assume I picked the proper style for my face, but I did the leg work. When I pay for a professional stylist I want professional consultation and treatment thats all I do love the spa and have always had wonderful treatment there. Pros: I love Aveda products Cons: Never on time, no consultaions despite asking for one. more

Suprisingly Displeased- especially after stylist saw what she did and acted like 'no big deal' 10/22/2008

I took my two boys into your Salon, which was highly recommended, and each year for the past four years my husaband purchases for our anniversary a full body massage and pedicure for me, which I love!. unfortunately, I was appaulled at the fact that (Kimberly) chose to charge me $20.00 for a hair cut for my 5 year old son ( no wash) and $20.00 for my 12 year old son. They have school pictures this week and we lost our hair dresser from a change in location, so currently do not have one. She spent a total of 18, yes 18 minutes on BOTH children and I was charged $40.00 dollars. That is not the worst of it, I called a head to let her know that I wanted my son's hair cut a specific way, she claimed to understand, but when he was in her chair, she disregarded our conversation, and I was not about to argue with my son over how short or what style when I already asked her to do as I requested. I am not one to speak up, Which I'm learning to, as I am the customer and it is my hard earned money. None the less, poor Joey has the WORST hair cut he has ever received. I came right out in the beginning before she even began to cut, telling her "please do not touch the bangs, he has a cowl lick and I always comb down his bangs straight, to proceed with cutting the sides and back short" Oh my, she cut the Bangs and uneven! Where is the repritoire of Shapers, and Listening to the customer. I pointed it out and she stated, "oh it will grow back by Friday" NOT - It is horrible, I do not have the time to bring him back in to have this fixed nor do I have the gas for the second trip, nor do I feel that her 8 minutes was worth my $20.00. He even stated "mama, she messed my hair up"! how sad:( I was not pleased with this at all. How do you handle such disappointment as a result from your company? Malinda Pros: Massage therapists wonderful! Cons: rotton service for my boys haircuts. more

Amazing Stylists, Fabulous Spa, Friendly Service, Fantastic Product Line 3/15/2008

I love Shapers! I have been a client for nearly 10 years (and my entire extended family are clients at Shapers, too). The hair stylists are excellent and very particular when coloring, cutting and styling my hair (and my hair looks fab). The spa specialists are professional and perfectionists, too. I have never had a negative experience at Shapers! The staff is always professional and helpful. I encourage you to make an appointment today! Let's support Saginaw. Pros: First Class Salon and Day Spa more

not up to snuff 12/17/2007

I went here twice and did not have a good experience. The foot rest of the shampoo chair (of which they had two, with one being occupied) was broken making it uncomfortable to sit in (especially since I am short). I tolerated this. I returned to this salon in 6 weeks and they were going to have me sit in this chair again. I firmly stated that I would not sit in this chair again and couldn't believe this high class joint still hadn't fixed this chair. My stylist did not say two words to me both times he cut my hair. I have no idea what he thought he was going to do to my hair. Weird. I don't like chatty stylists but this was ridiculous. Also, their magazine selection in the waiting was weird - it was all about wedding dresses. Again, weird. more

Strongly Disagree With Some Of The Other Reviews, Shapers Rocks! 11/29/2006

I stumbled on this by accident and was surprised to read that someone had something bad to say about Shapers. I have been going there for at least 7 or 8 years, and can honestly say I have never had a major problem there. In fact I would say most of my experiences there are outstanding. I get regular hair services in their salon, and have used the spa from time to time, and both are top rate in my book! --- In fact as someone who travels on business regularly I frequent huge spas in some major cities, and am inclined to say that Shapers measures up not only on a local level, but on a national level. The staff has never been anything but friendly and courteous to me, the prices are on par for the excellent services they provide and they have an excellent Aveda selection. --- In fact all this typing just jogged my memory. Last year, my girlfriend had gotten an awful haircut elsewhere (I shant mention names) where she made the mistake of giving some psycho with scissors at a susposedly reputable salon creative control over her hair. After losing almost 7 inches of length and looking like some strange european video model, she was in tears. I sent her to my stylist at shapers and they ended up giving her hair extenstions that looked like her real hair, and they performed regular maintainence until her own hair grew back out. In fact now that they're gone, I miss they extensions...THEY WERE DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! Needless to say we both go to Shapers now...---- Hope this helps anyone looking for a new salon, because as far as I care Shapers is the game to beat in this area. !!!!LATER REVISION TO REVIEW--PLEASE READ !!!! Beautiful decor 9/13/2006

Not very nice on the phone but i still bought a gift certificate there. My wife was not pleased at all. She said it was a lovely looking place. As for the staff they were not very nice to her. She didn't feel welcomed. For what I paid that package she should of been treated like a queen. Pros: Fancy looking Cons: Unfriendly, pricey more

ok 8/16/2006

Attitude, snooty pretentious. I felt unwelcome and not good enough. It is a pretyy place. Aveda is a good product line but it's too smelly for me. My service was o.k.. I waited 28 minutes before they strted my sservices. Very busy, which is good for them. I was satisfied. Pros: Pretty Cons: bad service more

Lovely Atmosphere... 5/9/2004

What a pleasure to receive a relaxing pedicure administered by skilled staff in an atmosphere of defused lighting and soft music. Ah... All of this for a more reasonable price than other salons in the area. Pros: resonable price, great atmosphere, friendly staff more
