fun 10/3/2009

Great activities, love the Halloween stuff, and the drive through Christmas lights are really fun. It is too bad they do not have more of those in this area. Live music and car nights also fun for a change. Produce market has lots of other treats, upick fields, and the plants are usually in good shape, not cheap, but nice. I wish they had more tree choices, like fruit trees. People who work there usually helpful. more

Love going around halloween 9/21/2005

Shady Brook is a good place to go around the holiday season and around Halloween, too. During Halloween they have a haunted house and hay rides. The only downside is that it's always crowded and is kind of a hike from the city. Sometimes we go up and stock up on fruits and veggies from the farm market. (I just freeze the excess). more

Lots of fun in addition to produce, etc... 9/1/2005

In addition to the produce, bakery, winery, & ice cream shoppe, Shady Brook is a great place for entertainment! At Halloween, their hay rides through the woods and fields are tons of fun. They also have a creepy haunted house, band playing, and bon fires. Lots of fun. Expect it to be crowded. During the Winter holidays, there is a great light show. Worth a drive through! more

Nice assortment of activites around major holidays 8/11/2005

I do not think highly of Shady Brook Farm in general as a business, but I think they do hold some nice events around the holidays especially Halloween and Christmas. In general, they offer a market that sells gardening supplies and food items. Around the holidays, however, Shady Brook has Halloween festivities that include cornfield mazes and hayrides. These are done pretty well and priced reasonably. The hayride takes full advantage of the farm's vast grounds and includes actors as well as special effects. At Christmastime the farm puts on a pretty impressive drive-through light show. They even let you tune your car's radio to a station that complements your light show experience with Christmas music. Unfortunately, the light show does not really change from year to year but it should be experienced at least once. Another nice thing is that the admission fee goes to charity. I would not recommend Shady Brook for most visits, but it is good around the holidays. more
