I'm usually not a reviewer, but I love Urbanspoon. After going to the shack and reading the reviews, I had to write something. I'm so sick of restaraunt owners and their employees writing reviews of their own place. I count maybe 4 reviews about the shack that are authentic and they pretty much agree the place sucks. The rest of the reviews are such obvious plants it makes me sick. It really is a disservice to UrbanSpoon. These reviews about $1.50 drafts and "Boars Head" and I love the one about "there's so much to do, especally the ring game". Uh, okay, I went to the shack and yeah, they have a ring tied to a piece of string, but that's about it. It's not like you're going to Boomers with so much to do. I'd sum up, "so much to do" as, order, eat and leave. If you want to advertise your boars head and $1.50 Miller genune drafts, put up a menu, don't use fake reviews.\r
As far as the place goes, it's a sub shop with average food that serves beer, you get that right off the bat when you walk in and see one of the employees slurping one down-TACKY. As far as music, play what you want, but turn it down enough so I don't have to repeat my order and I get what I ordered. It really sucks to pick onions off a sub you ordered when you repeated "NO ONIONS!". If you're looking for a decent sub FAST and inexpensive, no one beats 620 Subs, they're like a producton line, I've been out of there during a lunch rush in 4 minutes flat. If you want a GREAT sub, then I have to agree with Joe, V&S is the gold standard. In short the Shack is ok, but it seems like the owners wanted to open a nightclub, but could only afford a sub shop. My advice, know what you are and focus on being the best. Take a trip to 620 and learn how to make a sandwich accurately and quickly. Then stop at V&S and find out why they've been there over decade. Keep gong the way you are and you're another snowflake in the brutal Florida sun.
