Loving Yoga Family 7/27/2008

Alot has been said about Seventh Street Yoga, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the bottom line is that this studio is full of amazing teachers and fun clients. They have two beautiful studios, a huge shaded deck outside with trendy wicker chairs, and a great selection of yoga clothes. The schedule changes are a hassle, but they always keep their website up to date and I'm told that they are adding more classes for August and September. The prices are very reasonable, especially the first day special of 10 classes for $100! So cheap! Best of all, their class passes NEVER EXPIRE! I love this studio because of it's serene atmosphere and the genuine 'Weird Austin' feel. Check them out - you won't be disappointed! Pros: Small classes, plenty of parking in front, great prices, genuine people. more

Too Expensive, Schedule not Great 7/26/2008

Maybe the prices are high because of location? I found the prices to be on the expensive side for Austin. Also, because the studio is smallish I find the schedule to be limiting. I don't think I'll return. Cons: prices more

my 7th street yoga experience 5/26/2008

I have to admit that I searched out reviews for 7th street yoga because I had a concern and wanted to see if others felt the same way. \r First off I have to say that I love 7th street yoga. It is a beautiful peaceful space with an array of instructors that satisfy my every yoga need ;-). Some seem to be upset that mike left. I went to a few of his classes and though I understand why he is respected and appreciated, I personally was not 100% impressed with him. I have learned much more from the current instructors. \r Here is my concern. The studio is loud during yoga classes. Usually studios lock their front doors during classes to insure silence. it makes sense. For some reason 7th street yoga does not do this. Often times you hear loud conversation, laughter, or a possible new client transition. Not sure if this is because they are a new studio and afraid of losing new business, or if they are just not aware of the noise factor. Regardless, it is very unusual for a yoga studio. \r Other then that I have no complaints. I am happy with everyone involved and will continue my practice here for years to come \r namaste more

Not so great. 5/19/2008

I have tried several area Yoga studios, this one does not measure up. I prefer Bikrim or Yoga yoga, better instructors and better classes. Cons: instructors more

THE new place for YOGA IN AUSTIN!!!! 5/19/2008

Seventh Street Yoga is the new place to do yoga in Austin. The space is absolutely beautiful and the teachers are Awesome! They recently lost Mike, the Ashtanga teacher, but the Anusara Community is getting really strong there and ashtanga is still happening. The teachers are very skilled and I have learned something at every class I have gone to. Pros: beautiful space, incredible instructors, uplifting vibe Cons: a bit noisy, the doors into the yoga room need to be sound proofed so the lobby area noise does not filter in. more

Pass on It, going back to Yoga Yoga 5/16/2008

It is a nice space and a convenient location for me, however the schedule is inconsistent with too many last minute changes. I'm a busy gal, I need a place where I can count on the classes taking place when scheduled. Pros: location, atmosphere Cons: schedules more

Don't Waste Your Time or Money 5/10/2008

Seventh Street Yoga had the potential to be a powerhouse on the Austin yoga scene: excellent teachers, fantastic location and a spirited clientle. Unfortunately, the management squandered all of those opportunities. The talented teachers (Selena, Mike, and others) left the studio and the remaining teachers are average at best. Constant changes in the schedule and unpleasant conditions (the studio is cramped and LOUD) make for an undesirable yoga experience. It doesn't appear that the management understands or respects what makes for a successful yoga studio, there is a distinct lack of professionalism and integrity (schedule changes happen last second on a regular basis and refunds are not granted). It's a real shame because the opportunity for success was so great. \r \r Save yourself the time, money and aggravation and go to Breath and Body, Bodhi, Castle Hill or Yoga Yoga. 7th Street is old news. Pros: Beautiful space, excellent location Cons: Average teachers, poor management in every possible way, parking lot is designed poorly more

One should try everything... 5/9/2008

I have looked at lots, and lots of places here in Austin, just recently moved here from Santa Fe, NM which holds high standards for ""traditional yoga"", whichever practice one takes on.\r \r Found 7th St. Yoga, love the studio, staff, location, and mostly the clientele, so friendly and down to earth. Ashtanga is a hard practice, and difficult to find here in Austin, mainly because it truely is a ""home practice"". I come with lots of injuries, and I love the Ashtanga beginner class (w/Mike), good instruction, attention to detail, etc.\r \r Classes do switch too much for my taste, and I feel to build a steady clientele the classes and staff have to be consistent. Willing to stick it out with them, since I believe they've only been open two years. Let's give them a chance, and support our and their needs.\r \r \r \r Pros: beautiful studio, friendly staff, and clientele, good variety of classes, which can assist you to move from one style to another. Cons: Classes switch tooo much, found some clientele, suprised they took one style and expected another. This individual had injuries and was looking for a certain type of yoga. more

Don't wait, unroll your mat! 1/5/2008

I always thought I will be practicing yoga next to a pizza parlor in a strip mall as long as I live in Austin. Then comes Seventh Street Yoga. The place is beautiful and inviting in an understated way. The staff is very friendly. The teachers are great. Granted, that there have been frequent changes in the class schedule and teachers over the past few months. But, you can't go wrong with Mike's Freestyle Vinyasa.\r \r I understand the other reviewer's frustration about their morning Mysore class being cancelled but I remember seeing the afternoon Mysore class on the schedule. Also, I am all about supporting the growth of downtown Austin. Since when that you have a beautiful yoga studio right in the middle of downtown Austin with plenty of parking space and a short walk from Wholefoods? I say, bring your mat and unroll it soon! Pros: Beautiful space, Variety of yoga, High quality instruction, plenty of parking Cons: Not enough classes during the day (classes mostly offered in the evening) more

Don't bother... 8/12/2007

Very disappointing yoga experience. Don't get me wrong, the actual yoga instruction is excellent, and the space is beautiful, but that's what makes this place so disappointing. The schedule seems to change on a daily basis, so multiple times I have gotten up early in the morning and arrived to a closed studio. In addition, I joined to do morning Mysore style ashtanga, which they apparently no longer have. It's hard to want to keep going to a place when they change classes without warning like that. Don't waste your money; you will only be disappointed. Pros: Good instruction, when they show up Cons: Ever-changing schedule, inconsistant, many cancelled classes more
