Best

Our child loved this place. Lots of other families here and good selection of Yummy sweet stuff. Much for kids to look at and keep busy...

Worst

I always wanted to go to this place after seeing the movie. It was a disappoinment. The service was slow, the food so-so. The frozen hot chocolate was good but pricey. The chocola...

Worth the wait? Not really, but wait anyways. 9/1/2005

The wait is ridiculous, but I suppose everyone has to go there at least once. I know they're famous for their Frozen Hot Chocolate, but I think there are better things on the menu. I personally enjoyed the Fresh Fruit Sundae. Also, the Forbidden Broadway Sundae is every chocolate lover's dream. Unless you have a sick dessert appetite, under no circumstances order a dessert for just yourself. They are huge, so definitely share with someone. I saw a girl take 2 bites of hers and that was it. 2 hour wait for 2 bites?! What a waste! more

you know what it's famous for 8/26/2005

Serendipity 3 is famous for their Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, but that's not the only thing that's good there. Their ice cream is wonderful, too. Also, their Chocolate Blackout Cake. It's a great place to go for dessert. Some cons about the place is that you almost always have to make reservations to get in. Another con is that their "real" food is a bit pricey for a small amount. Pros about this place is that they have a great atmosphere and a nice feeling. more

Not really worth the wait... but still good! 8/26/2005

The famous Serendipity, whether famed by the recent movie or just because of it's old appeal, will take you at least an hour to get in at any point of any day. They do take an extremely limited amount of reservations if you call early in the week, however. Plan to come by and put your name on a list before going shopping in the area or something, and you'll be happy you did. The food comes in huge portions, and is not as overpriced as you may have heard. The menu is more extensive than an encyclopedia, so everyone can find something. And don't you dare leave without trying a frrrozen hot chocolate. You won't leave hungry. more

Amazing frozen hot chocolate!!! 8/14/2005

If you are ever in New York, this is a place you have to go to. Aside from the fact that it was in When Harry met Sally, they have the best frozen hot chocolate you will ever taste. There can be a bit of a wait since the place is not that big but definitely worth your while. Portions are big so feel free to share with your sweetie. more

good atmosphere 8/11/2005

This place has got a rich menu (food is definetely not on your low calorie diet) and good atmosphere. If you do, the hot frozen chocolate is a must have! more

Great Place for Dessert 8/10/2005

Serendipity is best known for its HUGE mouth topping desserts. I've been there 3 times myself with guests from out of town. They love the place and dessert. I would definetly recommend their signature Frozen Hot Chocolate and Banana Float Sundae. The price may seem kind of hefty but considering the portion you get its well worth it. As for the food it's not the best I've had but decent. I would just go straight for the dessert! The downside as others have mentioned is the long wait and crowds. Be prepared to wait at least 1 to 2 hours. Even with reservation there usually is a wait. more

Wonderful ice cream dishes 8/3/2005

If you are an ice cream lover you must come to Serendipity. Known for the frozen hot chocolate which has the hot chocolate taste with the frozen drink feel (believe me, it's great), but that is just the appetizer. Mountains of ice cream come with each dessert - my personal favorite is strawberry fields. The food is nothing to write home about however and don't venture there on weekends or you can expect to wait as long as 3 and a half hours. more

Sweet Serendipity 6/19/2005

Serendipity is frequented by many celebrities and it has been featured in the romantic comedy 'Serendipity' with John Cusack. The restaurant is funky with colorful decorations. Reservations are usually needed. Prices are fairly high, but no that absurd compared to other places in NYC. You can also go there if you only want a dessert, their specialty. This place is fantastic. It's kitschy and cute and everybody likes it, no matter what age you are. While the items off the main menu are delicious. It has a very casual yet hip and classy atmosphere, particularly the top floor. The top floor is more reserved and quiet, as well as spacious. The waiters are fantastic. They all have a sense of humor and are very, very helpful. Leave a big tip! I would say that the Fruit Crepes for dessert are best. The item that everybody talks about and is supposedly this restaurant's 'specialty' however, is the Frozen Hot Chocolate. That is delicious as well, but personally I am not a great chocolate lover and this thing is exactly what the name is, a huge dose of iced chocolate topped with whipped cream. They also have fairly good hamburgers and hotdogs but one really goes for the dessert. Serendipity 3! Yum Yum!!! It's like a fantasy land.....toys, ice cream, unique decor.... more

Best Dessert in NYC 6/19/2005

Serendipity is the best dessert place in the city. The cheesecake is the best I've ever had and there isn't an item on the dessert menu I wouldn't recommend. It's famous for frozen hot chocolate. It has a full dinner menu, but I've only heard mixed things about it. The wait is usually 1-2 hrs so be prepared more
