Alternatives to Cosmopolitan Magazine! 3/30/2006

You would totally miss this store if it wasn't for the sign of an eye and hear hanging above (See & Hear. Get it!) Once you go down the stairs into the basement you step into a small store that sell nothing but zines. For those who are zine illiterate a zine is a handmade, cut and paste papers of pictures and articles that can range from Neo buddhism to What my cat fluffy ate today. It's pretty much up to the author what they want to write about. Some pretty good reads. It's like reading a blog or someones journal. See Hear is also the only store in NYC devoted to selling nothing but zines so if you are looking for alternative reading you have to See Hear. more

No you see hear! 12/30/2005

A great alternative in magazine literature for those who are sick to death of the Lose-10-Pounds-in-seven-days-while-balancing-your-checkbook-on-your-newly-taut-abs-that-will-drive-your-man-wild-in-the-sack articles that seem to covet all the top magazines on a regular basis. See Hear carries nothing but homemade zines that anyone with a little glue, paper and imagination can make. They carry post feminisim, music reviews, world views, personal essays and neo everything. Look for the ear/eye sign to spot the store. more

Zine for you 10/15/2005

This is the only store in New York that sells nothing but handmade magazines or zines. They have every subject from women's issues, politics, personal essays etc. The zines are not cheap since they are all handmade but if you are tired of reading the same old how to lose 10 pounds in 30 days while budgeting you check book and keeping the romance alive in your relationship articles then I suggest stopping by and shelling out the extra bucks for the zines. more
