Poor customer service 7/24/2021

I would give a zero but I'm still waiting on my order. The first one came destroyed due to poor crating for LTL shipment. Its been 2 months. I've been very pleasant with my salesperson but must call them to get any info. I've been told verbally my replacement order has shipped but they couldn't provide a tracking number. They never return calls, don't provide information and worst of all have a rude phone presence.I will not use second and surplus again. Certainly will not recommend them to anyone. Very unprofessional, unorganized and rude. more

Do not shop here 9/22/2020

Worst customer service ever. They are polite and smile to your face but lie at the same time. In person, I ordered 2 doors, different sizes after I couldn't place an order on the phone or online. I was called and told they were ready. They don't deliver so I drove 45 minutes to pick them up. When I arrived they brought out 2 doors, same size, admitted their mistake and said they would have to order the right size. 10 minutes away from home I get a message that said they actually had the right size all along but mis-tagged it with someone elses name. I told them their mistake - twice - I was not traveling back out there to pick it up and they needed to deliver it i.e. good customer service. Marcell who smiled and said he would take responsibility was coming in on his day off today and would deliver himself. He called in sick so no delivery but Oscar said they would deliver in 6 days. Not acceptable. He said he would talk to Jesse, the manager, and call back. 5 hours later I called back and he lied saying he called and left a message (no he didn't) but they would give me less than $18 credit to pick up myself. This is for an 82 mile round trip. Horrible, horrible customer service. It would be worth less aggravation and better time management to go to Home Depot and pay twice the amount for the same door. more

Rude and not cheapest in town 7/29/2017

So yes about the cheapest in town most of the time it's one of the top 3 and I'd rather go somewhere else cuz this place has no air conditioner, their customer service is not very good more

The Good the bad & the ugly at Richardson store 1/6/2013

It took me years to finally be able to purchase a nice door for my house & was excited to find what I wanted at a fair price at Seconds & Surplus. The young man who helped me was kind. However, the door was unfinished & I had planned to have a wood stained finish put on it- at check out was handed a list of contractors and referred to a floor & door guy. BEWARE because when I contacted him apparently he was too busy for my job or throws the smaller jobs off to some (come to find out) alcoholic con artist. He agreed on a price of $300 - more than I should have paid as it turns out, but the door was already installed. He said he'd been doing this kind of work for 30 years - showed up looking pitiful - didn't tape off the beveled glass - planned to do it in one day - & barely put 1 coat of spar finish on the exterior. I had another guy come to see it & tells me it needs more sanding & 2 more coats of finish applied. So to get the job finished I will be out even more money. A horrible experience!! more

If you are a women watch your step! 1/22/2012

The person who helped me with my project had the correct measurements, and was so wrong with what was needed for my countertop job, cost me over $700.00 extra. They will cheat & lie to make the sale. When I needed additional supplies, the store raise the price 100%, because I had to finish my project and I had no other place to go because I started the project with their product. My contractor knew they had pull a fast one on me, but there was nothing I could do. I will never step foot in that store again. From now on I will only go to Homedepot or Lowes, I have learned my leason. Watch yourself when buying supplies from this place. It may not be a good deal in the end. Trust Me!!!! more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! 5/21/2011

NOT WORTH DEALING WITH We are doing a home remodel and have bought close to $2,000 worth of supplies from Seconds and Surplus. After buying a toilet that was t wrong size, we had to return it and they did not carry the appropriate size needed for our two bathrooms. Seconds would only offer us a store credit or return with restocking fee upon bringing them back. We asked for the store credit so we were not out another $100 but that same day we were picking up $500 in tile we had just purchased. Seconds refused to let us use the store credit we just received for the toilet on the tile that we had just purchased because we had charged the tile to a credit card the day before. After spending $2000 at Seconds on this remodel and another $2k a year before, the store and its managers refused to try to help accomodate its loyal customers in any way. This happened at the end of our remodel so Seconds had their money but was happy to put us out money. This made our experience horrible with Seconds and will not be back. Its worth paying the extra money to deal with a helpful, understanding provdier like Home Depot or Lowes!!!!! WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!! more

Bargains and Friendly people 5/1/2010

Good: I thought the staff were very friendly. Bad: The cuss word i heard a employee say. Improvements: More stores i live in Fort worth. Other: The arapaho store was very friendly and everyone was very helpful.. more

Excellent Customer Service 6/18/2009

This store on Regal Row is great for finding bargains and you could not ask for a more helpful staff. The prices are reduced because this is surplus inventory and therefore, the selections are always changing so you may need to go a few times to find what you are looking for, or you may get lucky. The warehouse is very hot, but I suppose they save some money on A/C bills and the shoppers get the benefit of the reduced prices. I went to this store looking for flush lines, lavatory (bathroom) faucets and tile for a backsplash and found it all. I had 3 different employees stop to ask me if they could be of assistance - rare these days and much appreciated! Happy Hunting! more

Beat the Prices at the Large Home Improvement Stores! 9/15/2005

If you've gone to the "depot" and to the "lowe"r side of things looking for hardware, lumber, beautiful front doors, or many other items...you've found the top prices! Try Seconds and Surplus! As their name suggests, they are able to purchase (at a substantial discount) some seconds and a whole lot of surplus items to offer at great discounts. They have no-glue wood and laminate flooring, dishwashers, and cabinets...the list goes on and on. At the back of their location on Regal Row, there is a huge offering of ceramic and tile flooring as well. There is also a second location in Richardson on Arapaho, east of Central Expressway (I-75). more

Great Find for the "Do it Yourselfers!" 8/13/2005

We discovered this really big warehouse full of all kinds of building materials several years ago, and have returned many times. The last time we visited, we purchased commercial grade Italian ceramic flooring that would have cost much more if purchased anywhere else. When we're in the mood to do home improvements, this is the place we start. Doors, flooring, windows, trim, etc,etc, check this out! more
