The Seattle Art Museum could take a lesson from the Seattle Symphony 4/9/2006

Last night we went to see Rostropovich conduct the symphony, playing 20th century Russian greats, Shotakovich and Prokofiev. Rostropovich is also known as one of the world's greatest cellists (check out his recordings of the Bach cello concertos). His and the orchestra's performance last night was AMAZING - three standing ovations. His charm and enthusiasm were palpable, and the orchestra clearly enjoyed performing under his leadership. BRAVO!!! Now, the SAM could take a lesson here, in that Seattle is a major metropolitan city that deserves to see and hear the greats. The Seattle Symphony give us these greats on a regular basis, all season long. The SAM, well, they do a lot of laurel resting. And, their laurels ain't that great. So, residents of Seattle, support the arts and enjoy the greats. And, send letters to the ones that are slacking! more

Music classes for kids of all ages 8/19/2005

Our children took music classes at Soundbridge Music Discovery Center at the symphony and liked them very much. Check out the website at: www.seattlesymphony.org/soundbridge/ Also check out this new place: www.gourbanmonkeys.com. I just got an e-mail about it and haven't been but it sure looks nice. You could easily take the bus from downtown. Good luck! more
