The ice cream is great but the ice cream cakes are a true delight. The New Brunswick shop makes blend-in cakes; the Princeton shop does not. Something to keep in mind.

Great ice cream, wonderful ice cream cakes 9/9/2009

Not as good as it used to be 5/31/2009

We question whether ownership has changed. Recent visits with friends had them weighing portions, a double scoop cup almost blew away as I carried it and a soda out of the store. A friend accompanying me said her dish of icecream had 4 teaspoonfuls and that was it. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come with this long adored and craved tradition in town.Since then we found a Hagen Daz in North Brunswick in the new Shoppes complex off the beginning of RT 130 S. Nom nom nom! more

Thomas Not So Sweet 4/24/2009

The new Skillman New Jersey location of Thomas Sweet provides very little of the same quality we have come to love about Thomas Sweet. A recent large order of latte, coffee, tea and pastries to take back to my school yielded leaky cups and a single "home-made" tea bag for use by multiple people to make their tea. After leaving one of the items off the bill and accusing us of taking other customer's items (encouraging riotous behavior amoung the customers) two separate members of the wait-staff insisted on collecting for the missing item and resulted in overpayment. The hot beverages are served in cold beverage cups with non-fitting lids which yielded more than one spill during the ride from Thomas Sweet. more

The Best! 10/9/2008

I work in the area and whenever I have the time to stop in....lunch or after work, I am sure to walk out with a "blend in". This is one of the best places I have gone to for icecream. First time visitors, be sure to stop next door to see all the wonderful chocolates! more

Eat your heart out! 7/13/2006

Dessert, anyone? If you want something sweet, cooling, and rich in taste, Thomas Sweet is a good place to go. They have many flavors of ice cream, blend-ins, cakes and other varied dessert items. The prices are reasonable and it is a good place to relax and socialize around a good cup/cone of ice cream. Their chocolates on the other hand are just as high caliber as their ice cream. If you need chocolate for holidays, they get very busy. So be sure to order what you want ahead of time. They have everything you could want - stuffed animals, truffles, chocolate covered strawberries, and unique chocolate shapes/creations. Staff there is very helpful and resourceful. Both stores are great for a lover of sweets! more

It doesn't get better than this! 4/14/2006

Thomas Sweet's has the best ice cream! I have never had better ice cream anywhere else. They offer a huge variety of flavors AND it is ALL homemade! It is located not far from Rutgers University and it is a favorite spot with the college students. Prices are normal for an ice cream boutique. In other words, higher than normal but oh so worth the price. This store used to be just a NJ tradition (with 3 locations in NJ) but they opened a store in Washington DC -- lucky DC residents now get the honor of great ice cream. more

Best Ice Cream Around! 3/31/2006

I attended Rutgers University and Thomas Sweet's is amazing! The ice cream is all home made, in the store. There are tons of flavors. My favorite is chocolate marshmallow. The flavors vary from normal to extreme! The staff is friendly and the prices are close to those at most upscale ice cream shops. However, it is very popular and you will end up in a long line if you go on a warm evening. The line moves fast, though! more

Best New Brunswick ice cream 9/29/2005

I checked out Thomas Sweet's ice cream for two reasons: my friend worked there and I had eaten their ice cream at their Princeton location before, and thought it was really good. The New Brunswick location turned out to be just as good, although in general they are pretty pricey. All of their ice creams are homemade! more

Wonderful 9/17/2005

The name of this parlor explains it all. Sweet ice cream and sweet chocolates. Amazing. Thats the one word I can use to describe the richness of the chocolate i bought from Thomas's. I did not purchase ice cream, but I am sure to do so on my next visit there. You should go take a visit here. more

The best blended ice cream! 9/16/2005

Thomas Sweets has awesome ice cream! They have so many choices, and my family goes there every weekend to try all of the different blends of ice cream and toppings. Their ice cream is home made and soo creamy, and when you mix in different flavors along with different toppings, it always turns out great. It can get extremely busy any time of the day, but definitely worth the wait. And their prices are very reasonable. more

Great Ice Cream 8/19/2005

If you're in the neighborhood looking for dessert, this is the place to go. In the summertime, it can get so busy that the lines are out the door, but who can resist such great ice cream at such a cheap price. I usually get a single scoop cup which turns out to be more than you expect for about $2 and change. They've got a ton of flavors and you can mix stuff in like cold stone as well and they also have italian ices and cakes. more

Love those sundaes 8/15/2005

This place offers one of the better options for a date in the evening if you are close to Easton Ave in New Brunswick. The ice creams are great offering some of the most delightful combinations, and so are the people who serve it. The location is convenient but finding space for parking your car is always an issue for someone new to this area. more

omg, great ice cream 8/5/2005

i have been to this one and the one in princeton. they are about the same when it comes to the stuff they have. THE ICE CREAM IS SOO GOOD! i do reccomend this place because the the ice cream is so smooth and sweet and just perfect. i absolutely love it and i go here every once in a while to pig out on sweets. how unhealthy. more

Great Tasting Ice Cream 8/5/2005

Before the Dairy Cream Blizzard, there was the Thomas Sweet Blend-In. This establishment used to be only Ice Cream, but the shop next door opened up in the 90's with a large number of chocolate confectionaries. Still, the amazing ice cream is the real draw here and it's no surprise! This place is busy all year, especially in the summer, but it's not unusual to find yourself in line during the coldest days of the year. more
