No luck last year 2/25/2009

I caled Sayer's fuel at least 3 times last year and was never able to get them to return my call. Definitely not the same quality experience I had the prior year. Fortunately, I had a couple of trees taken down early in the year and was able to burn those. more

Sayer Fuel Firewood Not Worth It 2/25/2009

I don't recommend buying their wood. We bought a cord for $300 last September and much of it is still unburnable in almost March of the next year. I called them twice since purchasing my wood and both times they were testy on the phone, a likely indicator that they are aware they are selling a misleading product. I just wish they would admit that the wood needs additional seasoning. Don't support this company! more

I've been happy 3/24/2007

I got a cord from Sayers fuel last year and compared to the other people I also bought wood from last year, the cord from sayers was top notch. Not to mention a LOT cheaper. It seems like they err on the side of giving too much wood (mine stacked out to a hair over a cord and that wasn't a loose stacking), the wood was in a lot better condition, and length of the wood was much more consistent than other places. I burned through it this winter and it all burned fine. It was not completely dry when I got it (and they advised me of this on the phone) but it was more than dry by winter, to the point that it would light without kindling (I have an Avalon Rainier insert in case you're wondering). My advice, order early in the year (March/April) for next winter. more

Check wood before taking delivery 11/8/2005

My wife took delivery of a half cord from Sayers this past week. She didn't know how to check the moisture content prior to handing over the money, and that's a mistake we're now regretting. The wood is completely unusable without some serious seasoning. Moisture bubbles out of the wood as I split it and the inside of larger pieces still smells quite green. Needless to say the wood is unusable in its current state and will take at least a few months (if not a year or more) of seasoning. ALWAYS CHECK THE WOOD BEFORE YOU TAKE DELIVERY!!!! more

From Firewood to Gravel 10/10/2005

Sayer's fuel has u-haul fuel from gravel to firewood and a few types of bark and compost. This is a great place to get a cord of firewood if you have a truck or stationwagon. Otherwise you might end up getting firewood in prepacked stacks from a grocery or hardware store. This is much more reasonable. Call them for quotes. more

Firewood 9/23/2005

This place is currently charging $240 + tax per cord (alot of wood for one house), and $140 for a half cord. Delivered. The wood is "seasoned", meaning (so they say) it was cut 8-10 mos ago. more
