Editorial review from Citysearch 3/30/2013

Before I get too deep into this review I want to stress that this review is strictly based on the service we received (or better, lack of service) from the restaurant portion of the business. We had been to the store to purchase cooking good before and love the selection and interesting products. Yesterday however, we attempted to eat at the restaurant portion for the first time.\r \r Everything pointed to a fantastic lunch. The sun was out, patio seating was available the menu looked delicious...wow were we wrong.\r \r We entered the restaurant and go menus and told the person working the counter we'd be outside. Then we waited and waited and waited. At least 15 minutes before a woman came out of the restaurant, told us she wasn't even working at the time (but she worked there) and that the people working had ignored us and she was really sorry. She got us water, took our drink order and brought us out drinks. Then took our food order (all while off duty). I wish we had her name, because she was the bright spot. \r \r After she took our food order she left however. Then we waited for an hour still with no food. So I went in to ask. The two employees were rude and snarky and claimed that they were SO busy and ran out of bread and had to go to Tall Grass to get more. When I noted that this was understandable but it would have been nice to let us know, he snapped that he would of had he not been too busy getting OUR bread for OUR sandwiches. \r \r I don't mind when restaurants make mistakes. I do mind when they lie about it. Just say, oops we f'd up and were sorry. I would have been fine, but we had to leave to I paid for the drinks and skipped the sandwiches.\r \r I will be writing a letter to management there. more

Specialty Food Store 3/8/2010

Savour is a neighborhood food shop, carrying a small yet diverse selection of products an array of cheeses, wine, pantry products (including a gluten free selection), chocolates and household items. They offer wine tastings on weekends. I have yet to try their prepared foods and sandwiches. On a most recent visit I found an interesting mozzarella from Oregon, the salesperson offered a decent sized taste and was extremely helpful when I asked questions. They also carry Secret Stash Salts founded by a local Ballardite. I like their commitment to quality. It's not a place to do your main shopping, but perfect to pick up something bring to a party, gifts or to add that extra special touch to a meal. Pros: Diverse Selection, Local Products, Gluten Free Cons: Pricey more

In a neighborhood so full of meat . . . 2/17/2010

Savour somehow falls short. Ballard really needs a good meat and cheese deli, so I was excited when Savour moved in. Unfortunately, the shop was a little disappointing. The products are tightly packed in a space that isn’t laid out well. Even when I found the deli counter, the options were limited. I don’t take issue with the fact the person helping me touched every single piece of meat I ordered (gloveless mind you); however, I do take issue with the 30 minutes I spent waiting for 1/4 lb of sliced salami. Really? Potential: High Chances of me returning: Hhhm, less than certain Food quality (once I finally received it): Pretty ok On a positive note, the person helping me was super nice and there does look to be some interesting products tucked in the store. Good luck finding them. more
