I Love Save-A-Lot 2/13/2009

I shop Save A Lot every week. They aren't fancy, but don't let that stop you from shopping there. You really do save a lot of money. I find their products just as good if not better than national brands without the hefty price tag. Their meats are always fresh and tasty. I get an entire full grocery cart of food for $100.00 to $150.00 depending on what I purchase. The last time I went to Publix or Walmart it cost me $250.00 for a full cart of food. I don't need to pay the extra price just to have someone bag my groceries for me. more

Money Talks 1/26/2009

I go to the Save a lot on East St. ( US 31 ) They are way cheaper than Kroger and Walmart. They may not have everything but they have great deals on meat. I spend around $150.00 my cart is FULL and I have to stack the bags in the cart to get it all out to the car. then I go to walmart and spend $100.00 and get three or four bags!???!! (even fewer bags at the same money at Kroger) No, they may not have the rude greeters and 65 of the fastest cashiers (2 on register and 63 in the back on break)in the world, but Money Talks! and You gotta eat! more

Avoid 7/12/2006

I visited the store on US 31 south in what appeared to be an abandoned strip mall. Looking at the parking lot with carts rolling around into cars, I was concerned about going inside but did so anyway. After getting through the broken automatic door, there were two police officers standing inside. The entire store was completely filled to the brim with merchandise, making it nearly impossible to walk around or grab anything without knocking something else over. Almost all the floor displays had toppled over, the shelves were a mess and the floor was very dirty. I brought with me about ten receipts from recent Aldi purchases to compare prices. Save-A-Lot's price was the same or 10-20 cents higher on every item - never lower. They were out of the majority of staple items that I was planning to purchase. I found tortillas, but they were full of trans fat, unlike the ones from Aldi. The store brand butter that I purchased was melted with the wax paper inside the strangely shaped 'sticks' (if you could call them that) and was the worst tasting butter that I've ever had. The checkout procedure was extremely time consuming. The cashier was standing around talking for at least 5 minutes before she started very slowly scanning merchandise. Their POS system does not support credit cards, so they have a manual input machine on the customer's side and the cashier has to get up and walk around to it to punch in the total. It then has to 'dial up'. The entire checkout took at least 15 minutes and I couldn't wait to leave. more

Not a Big Fan of Save A Lot 4/12/2006

Now, I'll tell you I love to save money, but I've never liked save a lot. Walmart is cheap on a lot of things, and Walmart foods taste a bit better. However if your just going to Save A Lot for flour, sugar and things, then it's ok. But other than that the food if not canned is a lower quality. I like Aldi's and Walmart better ! Just my 2 cents! more

Shop here first 7/8/2005

I shop at Save a lot for all my staples. Flour, sugars, sour cream, canned goods, frozens. I can get out for less than fifty bucks and have a stocked pantry. They carry fewer name brand items, but be sure you know the retail value to make sure it's a real deal. Their store brands are very good...even sodas. In fact, their canned corn is better than any name brand I've tried. It is much like an Aldi's environment, but they now take credit/debit as well as cash and check. Try it out, you may suprise yourself. more
