Love Sauced! 9/2/2011

Hands down this is one of my very favorite places in Atlanta. Whenever we have friends in from out-of-town, or folks who haven't been, or want a romantic, fun night, this is where we go. The food is FRESH and the menu clever - lots of meat. Mmmm. The decor and atmosphere, superb! Music, they spin RECORDS! I'm not a drinker, but it looks like a cool little bar, the best part? a ""mocktail"" menu. Why don't all restaurants/bars do this??? There's a lovely patio, parking, it's near my favorite bar CHURCH. Nothing could be finer. more

Get the Sauces 8/3/2010

First off -- get the sauces. They have a sampler of their daily sauces that you can dip some things in. Beyond that the food was consistently good and the laid back but lively atmosphere was perfect for a crowd or a date. Pros: Great Atmosphere, Good Food more

Great food, fabulous environment 4/27/2010

NOTE: They now accept Visa/Mastercard! Pros: delicious menu, fab cocktails, hip/retro decor, front deck Cons: slightly off the beaten path more

Making cash cool again? 3/21/2010

Plenty has been written about Sauced, and you can lump my opinion in with about everyone else. The kitchen hasn't lived up to the hype yet, the menu is super comfy and the setting is unbelievable. I'd recommend going even it's just for a drink and appetizer because the space is so damn cool. But I want to comment on the cash-only requirement. I love and hate the cash-only thing. I love paying in cash, because you always know where you stand and you know you aren't paying anything else later. I also hate paying in cash because you CAN'T pay for it later, which has pretty much become the norm in our society. If every restaurant had this policy, I would eat a lot worse than I do... but one restaurant here and there that goes cash-only isn't a bad thing. It's funny, my parents always tell me to ""remember to get cash"" or ""it's always good to have cash when you're leaving town,"" something that has become lost on even my own generation. So this is a nice reminder that not every nice meal needs to get paid with credit. And perhaps, we as a society should be doing more of this in general. I know owner/chef Ria Pell did this purely because credit card companies charge her thousands of dollars each year to use their services... but it might be a good thing for us to remember. Credit ain't everything. Pros: Overall old-school nature Cons: Sort of a pain in the ass with the cash thing more

June Cleaver Never Cooked Like This! 1/26/2010

Ria Pell has done it again. This time it's a cool little 1960's building on Edgewood, in Inman Park. We sat in the pine paneled area, under wrought iron lamps, listening to the Drifter's singing ""Under The Boardwalk"". What fun, and the menu! We started with Black-Eyed Pea Fritters w/jalapeno and cheese served with sweet chile, hotlanta sauce, and smoked tomato vinagrette. And then to one of my childhood favorites, Beef Wellington. It was made with Guiness-braised short rib. Served with braised brussel sprouts. And for dessert, homemade Lemon Ice Box Pie. This place is great! Service, and host/general manager-Michael May, was very charming. Pros: Re-deux Of Childhood Classics! more

  • In Short
The old 11:11 Teahouse space on Edgewood was destined for this. The exterior looks like something built in the 60?s, made to look like something from the future. And the...
