The food was GREAT! Contrary to what others have to say about the aesthetic quality of the building/interior, I personally think that the kitschyness and vintage appeal work reall...

I don't know what the fuss is all about. I've never been a fan of Saturn Cafe. I think it's great that they have all the vegetarian/vegan options, since I'm not a big meat eater, ...

Saturn 5/21/2006

The best vegiburger ever. And all sorts of salads, soups, and other dishes that no matter how boring it might sound, you’ll be totally blown away. Tuna Melt? Soooo good. And that’s not all – the place is round and it’s open all night. So, instead of the usual greasy crap you end up eating at 3 am, you can eat healthy and be totally satisfied by a stop at the Saturn. Not surprisingly, it can get crazy at night. more

great at any time of day or night 8/24/2005

the saturn cafe in its new (well, not that new) location is bigger and better. the location is not quite as funky as the old one on mission, but one thing the saturn cafe need not worry about is a lack of funk. and for being so funky, the service and the food is really great. all their veggie burgers are great and the tortilla soup is really good as well. the fries are also excellent - thick or thin cut. they are open late at night. more

Saturn Customer for years 8/3/2005

Saturn has neat ambiance and some decent food. Unfortunately the service is terrible. Absolutely horrible. Generally speaking, because I know there are a few cool service people there, the service is not about the customer but what is convenient for the staff. We have heard this same problem from many long time Santa Cruz residents - The owners need to get their people focused on providing good customer service - The "cooler than thou" , "I will get to you when it is good for me trip" is old, and as a result we don't go there any more... more

Saturn's Good! 8/1/2005

Saturn has delicious veggie burgers! And the best fries ever-- try them with the ranch and it's heaven. Their tomato soup is great, too-- especially with a chunk of their cornbread. All the salads I've tried have been good. I especially like the veggie Cesar salad-- lots of lettuce, lots of croutons and just the right amount of dressing. It's great late at night, too, when you have a craving for a delicious dessert. They combine Turkish coffee or burnt almond ice cream and cookie dough! mmmm. Great desserts! But don't expect the staff to be nice- they're not! more

Okay Food, Great local spot 7/13/2005

I don't go to saturn for the food. They're milkshakes are awesome, but I've never impressed with the meals. They are open super late and atmosphere is great. The staff is eccentric and very santa cruz. They also have great themed nights. We always have a great time hanging out and eating there at 1am. Deffiantly a place to check out if your visiting santa cruz more

Great environment and excellent food! 6/19/2005

Saturn Cafe is a funky vegetarian restaurant with a very Santa Cruzian vibe. Each table is adorned with past memorabilia or eclectic things to view while eating. There is a mini juke box available to listen to your favorite music while you wait or eat. There are plenty of appetizers, and most or all are under 10 bucks! There are a variety of soups including an interesting lime tortilla soup. There are several different vegetarian entrees available for every taste. One is a plate of soy flautas with rice and beans, which is under $10. A favorite of mine is the famous vegan nachos which can be purchased in a mini appetizer form for about $4 or an entree for about $7. The entree is a generous portion of chips, salsa, guacamole, black beans, black olives, and a delicious tofu spread. Many vegetarian sandwiches and burgers are available including the Chick Parm, which is a vegetarian chicken pattie on a francese bun complete with your choice of thick or thin fries. The best part of the menu is the dessert choices, where a few come in mini and full sizes. My favorite is the Big Bang, which is a sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, hot fudge, and whipped cream. A fantastic end to an incredibly original vegetarian meal. more
