awful. total rip off. 11/7/2011

I can't believe we took our daughter here. this place is absolutely awful. Basically they rope you in with a totally bogus video, promising that your kid will be able to swim (or at least be safe) in the water in the first series of lessons. however, after the first series, there is no way I would let my daughter near the water. she hadn't improved at all. so they gave us a discount to continue with another series of lessons. midway through the second series of lessons, I finally realized we were being scammed. Sarah is completely rude, crazy, mean, and scary to small children. Her little minion, pam, is nice but in a totally fake sort of way. The facilities are gross, dirty and dingy. frankly, I'm embarrassed that I got suckered into this. MIke, is one of the instructors, and he is actually pretty good and a nice guy. but he's always booked up. I can go on and on about this place, but I'll keep it to - BUYER BEWARE. more

Bad Experience 10/20/2011

My kids took lessons here and I would never recommend this place to anyone. The first time I can here I was taken back by Sarah's sharpness and tone of voice with me. I've seen Sarah have an attitude with not only me but towards other parents and her instructors. If she's not being bitchy she's has a very ""fake-nice attitude."" Her swim instruction is low quality, my child started crying when Sarah told her she would be her teaching again. I have watched her be very forceful with the kids, now my child is scared of the water! This place is way too overpriced, we certainly did not get what we paid for. Its also dirty and dingy looking inside. We will not be coming back to Sarah's School of Fish again! Also, after talking to several other parents I found out that she is asking people to write the reviews, which explains why the ratings on here don't match the service. more

Happy Swimming Fishes and SSF 10/6/2011

My guys (ages 1 1/2 and 4) began at SSF last year. The facilities are fabulous and the staff and teachers great. They helped my fearful 4 yr old love the water and my fearless 1 yr old master survival skill. Don't be put off my the rules, if you need something, ask. They have been extremely gracious with our complicated schedule (work in Decatur)/live in Smyrna. A day I was not on the schedule, they still the kids in. I needed a lesson at the same time every day, they made it happen. The teachers are patient and love what they do. Walk on in, join the SSF community of happy swimming kids. more

Amazing Lessons at SSF 12/5/2010

We signed up for lessons at SSF when my daughter who is now 7 was a toddler. We have taken lessons on and off now since that time. We heard about SSF through a local ad and decided to give it a try. We have been so pleased with the instruction! We have encouraged many of our friends to give the lessons a try! The indoor environment encourages year-round skill building! Most importantly, the instructors are amazing. Pat and Sarah both worked with our little one. Both are patient and very loving. Our daughter is a great swimmer and confident in the water. \r \r We are starting our youngest at SSF soon. I am confident that he will also build great skills and become a confident swimmer soon!\r more

The Best Swim Lessons-Sarah's School of Fish 11/29/2010

My husband and I have always felt strongly about teaching our children to swim. We originally took our first born to our local community center and assumed he would learn survival skills as well as how to swim. We quickly realized the classes were too big and the instructors were not necessarily experienced with teaching young children. One of our friends recommended Sarah’s School of Fish and we have been “hooked” ever since! Our son took his first lesson at SSF at age three. To our amazement, he was swimming and had passed his swim safety test (fully clothed/ shoes on) within a month! He took lessons about twice a week for the first month and then tapered down to once a week. He is now 6 and has continued to take more advanced, “refresher” lessons periodically to help his swimming strength and technique. This past summer was his first season on a swim team. He had such a great time and was completely prepared---he even came in 1st for his backstroke! \r With the success we experienced with our son, we started our daughter at SSF when she was about 18 months old. To say she was a “tough case” would be an understatement! With amazing patience and diligence, the teachers at SSF have helped her develop into a very strong and confident swimmer. She just turned 4 and she is already beginning to work on her breaststroke and is so excited to join her brother’s swim team next summer! Her eyes always light up when she hears she gets to have a swim lesson with Mr. Mike! Her older brother actually gets a little jealous when she gets to have a lesson and he doesn’t! We will soon enroll our baby in lessons at SSF as well!\r Without reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend Sarah’s School of Fish to anyone interested in having their children learn to swim. The instructors are so warm and caring and the private, one on one lessons have given our children the individual attention they have needed to become strong, safe and confident swimmers. \r more

Great Year Round Swimming Lessons! 10/3/2010

We love Sarah's School of Fish! My daughters both started swimming lessons when they were about 2 years old, and they are so comfortable in the water now. The swim instructors are very experienced, and they have been very accommodating with scheduling. They worked on water safety to the point that my kids could jump into the pool with their clothes on, swim, roll over to breathe, and make it to a wall, and climb out. Now they are working on stroke improvement, and people compliment my children's swimming wherever we go. It helps that Sarah's School of Fish has a heated indoor swimming pool, so that they can have year round swimming lessons. That way, my water babies can have their favorite exercise even through the winter, and they don't have to relearn their techniques every summer. Sarah loves children and water and swimming, and it is so obvious in everything she does. She makes swimming safe and fun. more

The Right Way to Learn Swimming - Sarah's School of Fish!! 9/26/2010

I am so grateful for the piece of mind we have because of enrolling our son in Sarah's School of Fish! He started there when was 2-and- a-1/2 and at that time he was totally dependent on a grown-up in the water. A year and a half later he can roll, swim and dive and is very comfortable in the water. This summer our friends commented about how great Nathan was doing and wanted to know where he was taking lessons. I appreciate that Sarah and her staff teach swimming the correct way from the beginning (without floaties strapped to the kids). They teach the key skills for survival and also competitive swimming. Our son started out taking indiviual lessons and then after about a year moved to the group classes which are very small. The environment is very friendly and the indoor swimming pool is great because he can keep swimming all year long. I highly recommend Sarah's School of Fish to everyone from beginners to those who may need to undo bad habits learned elsewhere! You will see results! more

The Very Best Swimming Lessons are at Sarah's School of Fish 9/7/2010

My daughter started at Sarah’s School of Fish in the Mommy and Me swim classes when she was 5 months old. She is now almost 4 years old and is swimming like a fish. This summer she even jumped off of the high dive at our community pool. Sarah and her staff are experienced swim instructors that can teach children at all ages and levels. One of the things that I really love about her facilities is the indoor swimming pool. This provided my daughter with the ability to take year round swimming lessons, so that she didn’t have to “start over” each summer. This truly made a huge difference in her ability to progress. I have complete strangers stop me at the pool to ask me how old my daughter is, because they have never seen a child that young swim so well. It is truly amazing! Sarah is such a wonderful and warm person who really has a talent for teaching children a life skill that means so much. Thank you Sarah and staff for teaching my daughter one of the most important skills of all!!! more

We love Sarah's School of Fish 8/31/2010

My son Harry, who is almost 6, has been attending lessons at Sarah's School of Fish since he was 3 years old. And my daughter Helen who is 2.5 has been attending since she was 2. We heard of SSF through a friend and have been so pleased with our experience! They both started lessons as beginners and have grown in their confidence by leaps and bounds. Harry is now completely independent and has developed into a great young swimmer. Helen is still learning but has made great progress! They both attend lessons during the Winter and Spring to prepare for the summer, as we spend much of our time and the beach, pool, and lake. My children have always been excited to attend their lessons and they feel so proud of themselves when they leave. We have been so impressed with the staff at SSF, as they are all great role models for our children, so encouraging, and certainly the kind of people you want your children to learn from. People at other pools consistently comment on our children's swimming abilities and confidence in the water! I recommend SSF to anyone who desires for the children to be strong swimmers! more

Wonderful place to learn to swim! 8/30/2010

We absolutely LOVE swimming at SSF. Our oldest daughter is 4 years old and began lessons at the age of 15 mos. Our youngest daughter is 2 years old and began Baby and Me classes at the age of 18 mos. Both girls have worked with several instructors and enjoy their lessons. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and very nurturing. Ms. Pat is always wonderful with the little ones! I love that Sarah takes the time to get to know the families and is always willing to match our girls up with the instructor that is a best fit for what the girls need at a particular time. At 4, Kaitlin is swimming the length of the pool without assistance and at age 2, Natalie enjoys ""swimming"" under the water and has no fear of it! The best part about the way SSF teaches skills is that they do not use any flotation devices which encourages the children to learn the skills as opposed to relying on something or someone. True life saving skills are taught! We've spent most of the last few years attending lessons once or more a week and will continue with weekly lessons for Natalie and ""refresher"" lessons for Kaitlin. SSF is the best swimming school in Atlanta! I would never think of going anywhere else. It's worth every penny paid!!! more

Our daughter absolutely LOVES swimming lessons at Sarah's School of Fish!!! When she started she could not swim on her own and now I can't get her out of the pool : ) Tanya who has been teaching her since the beginning is very encouraging and an excellent teacher. Cate looks forward to swimming lessons each week. I highly recommend Sarah's School of Fish. Her little sister will be next!!! more

Most amazing swimming lessons in Atlanta 7/12/2010

My 4 year old daughter had taken swimming lessons at two other facilities, and she was not making any progress. We heard about ""Sarah's School of Fish"" and decided to try it. When we started lessons my child would not even put her head under the water. By the second week of Sarah's School of Fish my daughter was able to swim the length of the swimming pool !!!! It was unbelievable! Here's another amazing benefit. In the beginning lessons, the instructors ""drown proof"" the children with lessons on how to flip over on their back, float and breathe. A few months after learning this, my child was in a pool which was too deep for her. I actually saw her realize she was in too deep and then immediately flip over on her back and begin to float and breathe. She automatically knew what to do in a challenging situation. Another thing Sarah's School of Fish does well besides having incredibly experienced instructors is that they teach the children daily for two consecutive weeks. That truly made all the difference rather than a weekly lesson once a week. My daughter is now 9 years old and still has a beautiful stroke for freestyle and backstroke which she learned at Sarah's School of Fish. I definitely give Sarah's School of Fish the highest marks possible! Don't waste your time anywhere else. Run to Sarah's School of Fish! My daughter loved the lessons, loved the warm pool water and loved all of the instructors! Pros: Learn to swim and be safe so quickly! Cons: None! more

Great Swim Lessons- year round indoors! 7/8/2010

We love Sarah's School of Fish! I have 5 children and all 5 of them took lessons at the same time - saving me time sitting and driving. They LOVE their instructors and the organized system for teaching that helped them progress from one stage to the next. My oldest two went to improve their strokes when they were 7 & 8 - and they had their best swim-team season ever! Sarah taught my then 5 year old how to swim (she had been afraid of swimming up to that point and would not put her face in the water). She has now been on the swim team for 3 years and loves it! My oldest son was 3 when he started lessons with Ms. Pat - and he LOVED going and was so excited to go down the slide! He was the youngest person on our swim team - just before he turned 4 - and looks forward to every swim meet! I had SSOF teach my youngest son this year (age 2) and he loves to go to the pool and put his face in and kick. I think swimming lessons are so important for a mom's confidence near the water - and great for children to build their self-esteem as they learn and master a new skill. We still go back for refresher lessons and to work on improving diving and strokes and my kids love going! Pros: Excellent Instructors, Experienced Teachers, Great step-by-s Cons: none! more

Atlanta's Best Kept Swimming School Secret 7/6/2010

My son was 2 when we started private swimming lessons in Atlanta at Sarah's School of Fish. I happened to drive by the school, stopped in and just loved what I saw! A gorgeous heated pool in a heated indoor facility. There are dolphins, fish, crabs, and starfish tile mosaics all around the pool...a very inviting atmosphere. JM is a very cautious child. He has always loved the water, but was nervous about doing anything without me holding him. The experienced instructors had him swimming to the bottom of the pool in a matter of a few weeks! He could swim the length of the pool next to his instructor in less than 3 months. They use a swim, roll over, swim technique which keeps the kiddos from ever being vertical in the water (and that is when they get in trouble). Made me feel VERY safe that he could survive if he fell in the water. And the best part is...he LOVED it! No scare tactics. No bullying. Not exhausting. Just lots of love. We have since moved and his instructor made him a hat with a submarine on it as a going away gift. Very special to JM! I HIGHLY recommend Sarah's School of Fish to anyone looking to get their child trained for survival in the water, stroke improvement, individual or group lessons, and baby (infant) swimming lessons...all while gaining a lifetime love of the water at the same time. Pros: Heated pool, baby classes, positive individual instruction Cons: pricey, but well worth it! more

Learn to Swim at the Very Best School Pool in Atlanta!

Owner Message
  • Our goal is that your children love the water as much as we do & will "learn to swim like a fish." The school's aim is teaching children from an early age to swim correctly and breathe comfortably so they can enjoy the water for the rest of their lives. We teach all ages (infants to adults) from initial learning to stroke mastery. All lessons are given individually one instructor for each child which accelerates learning many times faster than group lessons. This method also allows us to customize lessons as your child progresses and has proven to be more comfortable for them than learning in a group. Our private "school pool" is located in the Vinings/Smyrna area of Atlanta, Georgia. Students travel from all over the Atlanta area to learn to swim at Sarah's! For ease and efficiency of learning we strongly recommend that beginning lessons be scheduled as close together as possible.
