Management does not appreciate their customers 1/19/2012

After an evening of celebration and enjoying a high priced entree -Seafood Combination - and cocktails, we were told to leave NOW. I understand the need to reseat a hibachi table, but there should be a place to finish your drinks and vacate the table. Being told to leave, after spending about $200 for food/drink for 3, we left vowing never to return. more

Just read the last review posted by CPerron. I have been to Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse with my family many countless times for many years. I have met the owners and are very pleased with their hospitality and service. I have ALSO seen many employees come and go over the years. This last review sounds very much like a hateful one from a previous employee who was obviously terminated for what ever reason. I say this because how specifically detailed it is. Curious to know CPerron....how do you know if the they use a CD player rather than satellite radio?! That is pretty interesting to me. Most restaurants would have their music devices hidden or placed in the back. Judging by your review it seems as though you act like you ate there once, with that said, in order for you to know that it was a CD player rather than a satellite radio playing...you would have had to been sitting in that restaurant for hours!!! Also how do you know about the rent?! Are the Sapporo owners renting this place? You speak of drinks at this place and complain about the price. I am interested in this complaint because at the end of the review you are telling people to head over to Nakama or even Benihana. Well CPerron, I have been to these places as well. The drinks specifically at Benihana are priced higher!!! Martinis are 7.50 and so are their specialty drinks. Also some of their drinks are not even free refill like their special lemonade. All I want to state is that this is purely a review from a previous employee or even family who is advertising Nakama. I have seen this type of review very similar on another site. Sapporo has been up and running for more than 10 years and has managed to have people always coming back, like my family and friends. I wanted to put my input in and tell other Hibachi lovers that Sapporo has by far been the best quality food and that you do get your monies worth. As for CPerron and other terminated ""young"" employees, its not hard to see why you were let go. more

Sapporos Is A JOKE 7/13/2011

Obviously the management at this Sapporos are out of touch with reality. First of all this restaurant is in the middle of a dirty cheap run down hotel, the Pittsburg motel. So make sure if you go here to keep an eye out for the shady figures staying at the hotel. This place clearly has not been updated in about a decade. The inside of the restaurant does not look any better than the outside. Horrible paint job, the carpet has various stains and the workers aren't much to write home about either. Compared to all of the other Hibachi Teppanyaki restaurants in the area this place gets a grade F... for filthy! You would think that with all the competition in the area that the people that run this place would try to keep up with modern times and remodel, but obviously they are so ignorant they are oblivious to the fact that it is not 1994 anymore. Even the grill tables look like they are rotting away at every minute. This place literally has a grand total of 5 employees on staff, which is not surprising to say the least considering the lack of business they get (hey maybe if you realized it is 2011 and had any idea what the customer wants you would have more than 10 customers in the restaurant at one time!) But no obviously the management here are so out of touch with reality and are ignorant to the fact that this is a low rent cheap excuse for Hibachi style Japanese cuisine. Most of the other Hibachi restaraunts around Pittsburg you usually need a to go box for the meal. Well not at Sapporos. And they even charge for FRIED RICE! As if rice costs that much! A vodka and orange juice costs $6.00 as well as every mix drink. They don't even have a Blue Moon Draft beer! Total nonsense considering right down the road there is a bar (which looks a lot better this Sapporos anyway and that doesn't even look that good either!) and get a better deal in drinks. The bathrooms are hideous and too small and cramped and out of toilet paper during out visit. They also seem to think that the idiotic and ridiculous CD playlist they have installed on their airwaves is reasonable to play in a hibachi restaurant. I would rather not listen to anything at all than listen to the crap un-authentic music they play at this place. Ever hear of just playing the FM radio? Or does that cost too much? The food quality here is meh. The chef was very slow and didn't use enough seasoning on the food. We thought since we had an oriental chef that maybe he would put on a good show with some nice display of Teppanyaki tricks, but no. Not even a volcano because he said he was too afraid of the fire! Come on. Give me a break! The fried rice was too crunchy for our taste and the yum yum sauce was NOT YUMMY and was too watery. The steak that my wife ordered was over cooked, really how can someone mess up a medium steak? wait staff is poor but understandable due to the lack of workers and staff. on a busy night (even with reservations!) we waited about 45 minutes but the food was excellent and the chef was very friendly and personable and the onion volancoe and egg trick was a hitf for sure! the menu prices arent that bad and you get more than you would at ichiban thats for sure!! shrimp sauce is yum yum as usual and the chicken broccoli is phenomenal!! definitely add a fried rice to the meal its an extra 3 dollars or so but its worth it definitely. overall the experience was fun for the kids and everything was enjoyable. definitely recommendable. Pros: good food, friendly staff, prices arent bad, nice portions, shrimp sauce! Cons: slow waitresses and chefs, not enough staff members, no sushi :(, bad location...in a middle of the pittsburgh motel parking lot! more

Waste of gas and time. 6/23/2008

about 6 months ago came in sat down ordered alcoholic drinks ands then asked for sushi menu and the waitresses told us that their sushi chef is sick. so great we come to a hibachi place that has a sushi bar sign lit and in every advertisement and their website says they have sushi. the food wasnt too bad but the service sucked and we waited forever evern though we had reservations. coming here just expect the staff to be rude and lazy. Pros: food isnt bad Cons: false advertising more

*DELICIOUS* 7/26/2007

First off.. there are plently of other Japanese steakhouses out there. Many of them very traditional, upbeat,and even modern. Which I have to admit I love. However, Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse has been around for more than 10 years and is still providing customers with great quality foods. I have traveled to many great cities and the first place I want to check out are the Japanese steakhouses. Overall, Sapporo has many delicious dishes, many with special sauces that other steakhouses do not have ( I've checked) Also everything is fresh and made to order. Other places I noticed that their fried rice is already cook and simply just re-heated on the grill for *show*. Not here, they have their steamed rice untouch and prepared completely in front of you from scratch. No wonder people rave about their fried rice! I ordered the famous ""chicken broccoli"" which is cooked in this ""special"" sauce I was talking about. It is something that I now crave. If you truly love food then you will appreciate their freshness. Sure the other steakhouses in PA look nice, but from my own personal experience, their food does not compare. It has been a wonderful experience and I plan on returning along with many friends and family. Pros: FOOD, FOOD, FRIED RICE Cons: More ambience (in the process of reconstruction!) more
