Very Happy 10/8/2010

I love Santa Clara Animal Hospital. I drive all the way in from Corvallis because I won't take my pets anywhere else. I have family that drive in from the coast just to bring their pets to see Dr. Sean and/or Dr. Cary Barrett. They have been taking care of my four legged family members for over ten years and I have never had a bad experience or felt like they put monetary gain over my pets best interest. They can be busy because they're good at what they do and thus a local favorite. But I have never been rushed out of there and in the past when I've had emergencies with my pet they have dropped everything to care for them. As you would want done for your pet. I know they care about me and my pet. And I will NEVER go any where else. more

Two tiny little paws up 7/13/2010

I have a guinea pig that has been sick since friday when I got her. After calling around Eugene on monday, I finally got a recommendation to call. I made an appointment on monday, the doctor specilizing in exotics saw her even though she had some surgeries throughout the day. The doctor was very nice and even had a really funny story for me. more

George.... 4/2/2009

My dog, George, a 3 yr old lab mix (a pound puppy) fell out of the back of our truck in Florence. He broke his leg and we were unsure if we were going to be able to afford to get it fixed as it was going to take plates and screws. We thought we were going to have to put this sweet dog to sleep and it broke our hearts to know that we had spared him death at the pound only to have him still die. Dr. Cary Barret agreed to do the surgery and it ended up being much much more complicated than originally estimated. Some of you say they only care about money. That could not be further from the truth! They gifted us the extra cost, sticking to the original estimate! They are truly wonderful people and i know George is alive today because of Santa Clara Animal Hospital! 2 titanium plates, 11 screws and a big ole' mess of pulverized bone plus 15 weeks of recovery time and George will be as good as new! Thank you, there are no words to express our gratitude. more

average 10/17/2008

I have taken my two cats there for some time, since they bought it from the old vet that was retiring. These guys have a completely different attitude, let's make money. I always seem to get the newest vet that knews the least and we go round and round of expensive tests trying to find our what it wrong. The two Dr. Barretts do have zoo experience, which is maybe why the exotic pet owners like them but I have yet to have my animals seen by either one of these doctors and have often wondered if they existed! Routine care is fine. The place is clean. Most of the staff is friendly and nice, they are often way too busy at the front desk to be able to help much, unless you have lots of time to wait until they finish. When they take my sick cat for tests I never get to accompany him. more

Dr Sean and Cary Barrett are exceptional veterinarians 7/3/2008

We were new to the area and our puppy was hit by a car. Dr Sean and Dr Cary have given our dog excellent care through a very difficult recovery. The staff had been very accommodating. I can't say enough good things about them. If you need a vet in the Eugene area you can't do better! more

Dr. Sean Barrett provides outstanding care! 6/22/2008

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Sean Barrett! I have exotic pets and they adore him a big hug and going willingly with him. This is very unusual for them. Dr. Barrett takes his time with us, explains everything, makes follow up phone calls, and is just the best vet we've ever had. I trust him totally! I expect the very best care for my exotics and I always receive it. more

If you love your pet, don't take them there !!!! 6/4/2008

My dog got sick so I took him to Santa Clara Animal Hospital (never going there again.) They kept him on an IV for a week and couldn't figure out what was wrong. They insisted we keep him there and continue the IV but after so long and a $1,200 bill we took him elsewhere. Right away they told us that he never would have made it !! We ended up putting him down and if it weren't for those bitches we could have saved him some suffering. more

Honest and Understanding 5/22/2008

I took my ferret to this vet after having issues with a previous vet, and I found Santa Clara Animal Hospital to be very accomodating. Dr. Barrett was very honest about my pet's condition, and thorough in explaining treatment options. The pricing is mid-range, being neither cheap nor expensive. And just a note to anyone not happy with their current vet: never be afraid to get a second opinion. more

Past Zoo Vets Work At Santa Clara Animal Hospital 3/20/2008

I would never go to any other veterinary clinic.\r Dr Sean Barrett,DVM of Santa Clara Animal Hospital in Eugene, OR is a past zoo vet (along with his wife, Cary) with much experience in various kinds and sizes of animals and birds. He has operated on my son's tiny pet hedgehog twice with no ill effects. This pet weighed only ounces. My toy Chihuahua is going in for her third surgery at this clinic. Dr. Barrett believes in educating his patients owners, he never makes you feel rushed to get out. He always returns your phone calls. His rates are reasonable and fair. They also bill insurance. You would want the best doctor for your child wouldn't your? Well, your pet is part of your family and deserves the best treatment you can get for them too. All about the money 12/14/2007

I had my dog neutered here and the usual vaccinations done - it was fine. It was a first time visit for us when he was a pup. I never even met the vet that cared for him. The secretaries that answer the phone are very clear about charging an office visit for everything. They are also very quick and rude to get you off the phone if you have any questions - I mean simple questions like "cost" or telling them everything you need done. She practically hung up on me the last time I made an appointment. I initially went there as it looked clean and was close to my house - I'm going to switch to another vet though. I think their first priority is making money. Good luck getting a word or question in edge-wise. Their bedside manner is non-existent and their customer service SUCKS. more

Great place for exotic pet! 3/27/2006

I recently took my python to see the vet.'s at Santa Clera, everyone was amazing. The hospital was verry clean and well stocked, ample parking and great location. PROS: ability to treat most types of animals CONS: more

good with pets 9/17/2005

Santa Clara Animal Hospital is a small vet place and is located next to dairy mart on Irvington road and River Road. There is plenty of free parking in this modern building's lots. The staff is polite but it is you must have the money before they will see your pet. Their charges for services are on the higher side of vet fees. This is just an average vet . more
