Sanga Farm

I have read some of the reviews on this page, and so I felt I had to defend Miss Charlotte and Sanga Farms. My family was part of the farm for over two years and would still be, if we had not moved away. Miss Charlotte's main concern is always safety. When you have small children around 1,000 lb. animals, anything can happen. She demands obedience from her horses and she accomplishes that by training them. She expects obedience from her students, though often they are not trained that way. When you have several children in a group, a soft, sweet voice is often hard to hear and rarely heeded. Charlotte's knowledge of horses is amazing and she does everything she can to try to pass that on to her students. My wife and two of my children trained there for two years and were always treated respectfully by everyone in the barn. We all learned a great deal from her and I still call her when I have questions about our horses. Sometimes a horse or student would be doing something wrong and Charlotte would have to get their attention quickly before it turned into something worse. Yelling to get someone's attention and yelling in anger are two different things. I guess these others would never yell at a ball game because that would be inconsiderate. If you are looking for somewhere to carry your family to learn about horsemanship and how to properly care for your horse, then Sanga Farms is the place to go. Horses require a lot of work and attention and you will learn all of this for yourself there. If you think that horses are just big dumb animals and will do whatever you tell them to, then you need to stick with fish or guinea pigs. more

Great place to learn about and experience Horses My family have been a part of the farm for 6 years now\r When we started my wife was scared to death of horses and my two daughters wanted to learn to ride now the whole family enjoys the life of horses and now has the cofindence to do so and I have had the chance to make some great friends along the way more

My daughter was dissapointed with her week at Full Day horse camp last year that she has not asked to ride again since. She was 10 years old so she could relay her daily experiences to her father and me real well. She has friends with horsed and has ridden with these friends for years but never had any training so we thought that this would be a great way to learn the rules and care of horses.\r \r The website indicated that each child would be assigned a horse for the week and they would learn to take care of the horse and ride the horse. My daughter rode a different horse every day and did not get familier any one horse. It was like a merry-go-round. She said that they spent most of the day doing chores, like feeding the farm animals and raking stalls and VERY LITTLE time with the horses. She also complained that Steve and Charolett yelled and when I said something we were told that no one yelled at anyone. When I mentioned to Charalotte that my daughter said she was frightened by her horse rearing up -and Steve yelled at her for not controlling her horse. The next day Charlotte told her that her horse did not rear up, that it was just stomping the ground. The little bit of Horse time came at the end day when the parents could see them putting up the horses for the day. As with so little time actually on the horses the Parents ""Horse Show "" at the end of the Week was very weak. \r \r It was not a very friendly or positive experience and we will never go back. The only time they are friendly to the kids is when the parents are there. They are unsupervised most of the day while Charlotte, Jen, & Steve sit in the office and shout orders to the 1-2 13y.o. girls in the barn with 11 kids running around with the horses. They only had 3 horses they used for the 11 kids that were in camp. They let the kids get on the horses closer to the time the parents get there so that the parents see them on a horse. While i was watching in the parking lot, I timed the ride time....1 hour with 3 horses and 11 kids taking turns.....The ride time was unsupervised, Steve and Jen were sitting in the office. The other kids that weren't riding played in the petting zoo unsupervised. Jen SMOKES in the ""office"" with the kids in there!!!! You expect a farm to be dirty BUT this place is disgusting, plastic bags with spoiled food everywhere. My kids were there for 1 week, morning only and they had approx. 30 min. total of ride time by the end of the week. The rest of the time they did farm chores and played with the other animals in the petting zoo UNSUPERVISED!!! I witnessed Steve getting frustrated with my daughter and yelled at her because she couldn't make her horse follow her command and he yelled at her. I brought this to the attention of Charlotte, the owner, she thanked me for letting her know, then once I left told all the kids that they ""YELL at them for a reason and they WILL NOT apologize for it and they don't want to be sued""...... We recently had our daughter's birthday party at Sanga Farm. The prices are incredibly affordable, the staff was fast and courteous and the family who owns the business went above and beyond the necessary to ensure we had a great time. The kids loved the animals and the pony rides, and our adult guests enjoyed relaxing by the campfire and pond. Overall it was the best birthday party we could have thrown. Total cost was less than $150, we weren't charged for adult guests, and we even stayed a little after our scheduled time without being charged extra. \r \r We signed our daughter up for a Saturday Animal Camp following the party and felt it was a great value for $35.
