I had tried Sandra's despite some people telling me that their food wasn't that great. I actually didn't mind it and I tried the buffet in at least three occassions and it was ok. The service was never that great, but tolerable. However, the last time I was there (about two weeks ago), I LEFT ANGRY WITH NO EXPECTATION OF EVER COMING BACK.
All started since we came in around 2:00 pm. They close at 3:00 pm, so it was a little hectic. Me and my two co-workers came in. We had to stand in front, moving away from other customers plating their buffet in the front. Two waiters asked three times "how many people?." After that we decided to just sit on one of the tables that had been empty for the 10 minutes that we were standing there. When we sat, the male-waiter said "you could get in trouble for taking a table without being sat" I guess he thought this was funny, and my freind told him, "we will really be in trouble if we don't get back to our office on time". My friends got up for the buffet, I wasn't too hungry so I stayed at the table. I had to call a waiter to give me a menu after several minutes. I looked at the menu and there was not much variety of food and very expensive, not a single healthy choice either. So I decided to get buffet.
Since they were on their last hour, there wasn't many foods to choose from. There were no plates either, so I took one of the take out plates.
We ate. When we asked for the bill, it had an 18% tip included for 3 buffets for 3 people. Our bill was $48 dollars! (with the tax, tip and each buffet is $12.99). We complaint about this and the male-waiter tried to tell us that the menu says that 18% tip is included for parties of 3 or more, we replied that this should apply for plates from the menu but not for buffet. He tried to dispute this and said that they should get a tip because they still have to clean the tables and serve water !!! Like we explained, we don't mind leaving a tip, but not such a high tip for a buffet, and besides, we didn't even get any service (they didn't refill our water either). Finally we just paid for the buffet.
I was so naive to ask the female waiter that was cleaning up our table If could take my corn bread, which I had not ate and some left overs from my plate (remember, I was eating my food out of a take out container) she GRABBED the food out of my hands and in the most disrespectful way told me "you can't take this." I explained that I had not finished my food and that I had not even had a full buffet. She didn't care. I wanted to kill this woman, I felt so humiliated, but I just left and promised my self that I would let every body know about my experience.
After this, at least three people have told me a new bad story about this place, bad service, or bad food.
If you want to avoid aggravation don't EVER go there.
