This place is a delight to go to not too small not too big just right...kinda romantic but at the same time good for a big family dinner. excellent food, also very affordable. The waiters were excellent, and it just feels like youre at home when you go there... Pros: food, service Cons: parking more

Decent place for the area 2/17/2008

We came here for dinner with a large group. The table was reserved for us. The decor is interesting and homey at the same time. The service was attentive, but not what one might call seamless. The server made us very aware of his presence throughout the meal. The mussels and calamari appetizers were quite good, as was the sea bass entree. The prime rib, on the other hand, left something to be desired. It was fairly tender but completely flavorless. I am told the restaurant has similar problems with other beef entrees. The sangria was about average for New York. The price tag was fairly reasonable for the area. Overall, I would not make a special effort to come here, but I might come here again if I am in the area. more

Great Authentic Local Spanish Restaurant 11/13/2007

I have been dining at Sanchos for years and the food and service have always been exceptional. Their menu is simple and rarely varies, but they offer a nice mix of traditional Spanish meals that never disappoint. They typically have great specials as well. My fiance had a prime rib off of the special menu recently that was well beyond my expectations and right up there with any great steakhouse (And as a foodie I've been to quite a few). The Sangria is fabulous (I usually have the red), and their flan is among the best available. Their prices are unbeatable as well. Pros: great sangria, helpful staff more

Appalled 6/18/2007

I was appalled to see that another customer was treated so rudely at Sancho's. I had a simulair exprience with my friends at Sancho's. I have been there before and the food is good, but not great and the prices are reasonable. I guess the prices make up for the lack of there Customer Service Skills. I can see why there employees are so misareable, they get it from the management. \r I was there with 3 friends Sunday, we where standing by the door when the matridee comes to let us know that they where busy and no tables where available. He did not ask if we wanted to go wait by the bar , How long can people sit and eat 1 hour 2 hours? The chose should have been ours to make not his. Another couple came in after us as we were oing out, and were told they can sit and wait by the bar for the next available table. For excellent Customer Service go spend your hard earned money at Casa Pepe, they truly know how to treat the customers Royalty. more

Disgusted! 6/18/2007

Sanchos has the worst customer service I have ever had to endure at any restaurant. I?ve eaten there once or twice before as a local it?s convenient, the food isn?t that great but it?s not the worst. Their customer service skills in my experience has always been atrocious but it?s what happened to us this time that was uncalled for and the last draw! \r So, its Sunday we really don?t want to drive out anywhere a friend drops by we figure we would talk over. We walked in, party of three we said; the attendant shook his head no. We began to walk out, one of our friends heard ? hour, so we figured we would ask. NO, we were then told; No, not half an hour not any time. We were basically kicked out of Sanchos Restaurant. The ? hour was offered to the party the came in after us. We were not even offered to sit at the bar and have a drink to wait. \r We went to Casa Pepe and were treated like royalty. I tell you the walk to them was a bit of distance but more than satisfying. The food was absolutely delicious, the treatment and service absolutely wonderful the prices even better. Sanchos has lost a customer and will lose more since my experience will be told to everyone I know. \r Cons: SERVICE, PARKING more

Spain comes to Brooklyn!! 2/20/2007

My girlfriend and I decided to try Sancho's for the first time last week and we were very impressed! Food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff was extremely pleasant. We shared a bottle of the Rioja. I had the veal plancha and she had the paella. I would highly recommend it----you won't be disappointed! Pros: food, service, price Cons: -------------------------- more

One and Only !!!! 2/12/2007

After a friend's recommendation, I decided to try out Sancho's for myself and I'm extremly glad I did. Upon entering, we were courteously greeted and shown to our seats by our extremely attentive host. The setting is right out of old world Spain with the food to match!! We started off with enticing appetizers including shimp, pulpo, and chorizo and moved on to our main course. The menu offers an array of traditional seafood and meat dishes including their mouth watering paella, all at extremely reasonable prices!! After living in Spain for almost 2 years, I can honestly say that my experience at Sancho's brought back a flood of unforgettable memories. I will definitely be returning soon!! more

Finally, real Spanish Cusisine!!! 2/11/2007

Sancho's was definitely one of the best Spanish restaurants I have ever eaten at. It brought me back to when I lived in Spain for a few months with its traditional Spanish plates and its tasty refreshing sangria. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic and the prices are very reasonable. The seafood and fish are extremely fresh and if you prefer meat or chicken they have plenty of choices as well. The shrimp ajillo and the stuffed mushrooms are a few of my favorites. I also highly recommend the veal plancha, chicken ajillo and the cod fish, they also serve a great paella. I highly recommend eating there. more

The Worst Restaurant Experience 4/9/2006

Seriously. This place sucks. I made reservations for a group of 10 several days in advance, and checked back that same day to make sure everything was set. Arrived at the restaurant and was told it would be 10 minutes, which turned into 30, which turned into close to an hour. Entire staff was completely unaccomodating and rude, which was really awful considering we had two elderly women and one very pregnant one. Left before the hour turned into two. Went to Canedo's down the street and were treated wonderfully and had a great meal.. The staff at Sancho's are utterly unreliable on top of being dishonest and unorganized. The absolute worst restaurant experience I've ever had!! If you have to choose Spanish food in Bay Ridge, I'd avoid Sancho's (and its cheap jug-wine sangria) like the plague. Bleccch!! Cons: innumerable more

Quality food at a great price... 5/23/2004

The waitstaff is friendly (although their English can be lacking) and quick. We were seated right away on a Sunday evening but the restaurant was definitely filled with all types of people offering a warm atmospher. The smoked salmon appetizer was pretty good (it comes with goat cheese, calpers and onions). I had a house special (don't remember the name) with scallops, prosciutto, tomato sauce and cheese and it was soooo yummy! My boyfriend had the seafood paella and that was equally yummy. There are not too many places in Bay Ridge that offer quality seafood but this place is great!!! I highly recommend this place after my first and only visit... Pros: seafood, friendly staff, ambience more

Disappointed 2/16/2004

Went to Sancho's for Valentine's Day evening dinner. My husband and I were looking forward to trying a new restaurant in the neighborhood and read the reviews of Sancho's. Boy were we sorry that we chose this restaurant because everything was tasteless and dry. We had shrimp with lobster sauce as an appetizer and it had no zing to it or any lobster in it. The paella was dry and tasteless and so was my husband's scallops. In fact the scallops tasted the same as the shrimps. Nothing had any flavor. Needless to say we won't be going back there and the next time we are in the mood for Spanish food we will go to Casa Pepe which is outstanding. To tell you the truth I don't know where these other people ate who gave such rave reviews, but it surely wasn't Sancho's. Pros: Good Service Cons: , Bad parking more

ONE OF THE BEST IN BROOKLYN 11/2/2003

This is certainly one of the best places to eat in Brooklyn. We go there at least once in two months. The food is delicious and prepared well. It's located in Bay Ridge which is an easy commute from New York or any other borough. It's very reasonably priced considering the size of portions. If you like Spanish food, I reccomend it 100%. Pros: food , value , location Cons: tables close together more

Paella! Paella! 12/17/2002

4 of us went here for dinner last night...excellent! Although my crowd was a bit concerned about the overwhelming fish smell when we walked in the door, we were not disappointed by the food. Even the fish-hater in our group, who ordered lamb, was very pleasantly surprised. My paella was out of this world, a huge portion, and $14! (I have paid $25 for the same in Manhattan.) Excellent seafood! Excellent atmosphere...waiters? Not bad, but just ok. more
