Ding Ding Ding goes the trolley 4/3/2006

Well, actually the San Diego does not have a bell, but actually a buzzer. Anyway, the San Diego trolley is as much a San Diego landmark as it is a mode of transportation. Though the lines are limited, it does cover the heart of San Diego pretty well, including Ols Town, Mission Valley, SDSU. downtown, and Little Italy, You can also take the trolley down to the US/MEXICO border and then walk across. The trolley cars are well maintained and it's usually not too crowded. more

First rate transit 1/15/2006

When I first moved to the area, I didn't have a vehicle and was impressed over and over again by the public transportation. The trolley is always on time, always. The cost is extremely low. You can pretty much get to where ever you need to go in San Diego with the trolley. If you take the bus in conjuction with the trolley, you can get a transfer pass so you don't have to pay multiple times through one trip. There are passes available at a discounted rate. The trolleys are always clean and frequently have officers that come on board for safety reasons. Make sure you know where to get off at and remember that some of the stops are not in the best neighborhoods, so be careful. The trolley also offers free rides on New Year's Eve to discourage drunk driving which I think is a great idea. more

San Diego Transit system 1/13/2006

If you're in San Diego and don't have a vehicle, try the San Diego trolley. There are at least three different lines to choose from that will take you to different parts of San Diego. The newly introduced Green Line that provided a new underground tunnel and station that stop at San Diego State University is state of the art and definitely worth the trip. This same line takes you all the way to Old Town with stops in between at the malls and Qualcomm stadium. With the addition of the Green Line some brand new trolley cars came on board. They are magnificent and have to be seen. Depending on what areas of town you're going to, the clientele might be a little interesting so be careful. Pricing is not bad and monthly and semester passes are available. more
