Sam & Chris Hair Salon

This place is great!!! I have been living in the city for a few years now, and always went out to Long Island to get my cut. I was never able to find a place in the city that is good and reasonably priced. I always call last minute for an appointment, and they are always able to accommodate me. The staff is very nice and down to earth, even more important they listen to what you have to say even if they don't like it :) I highly recommend this place! more

Sam & Chris are good, competent hair stylists who bring an international flavor to the neighborhood. They are utterly lacking in pretension, which makes the atmosphere an easy one in which to get a wash and a cut as well as other stylistic flourishes one may want. I never have ventured beyond the classic wash & cut, so I don't know how well they do a perm or coloring, etc. I always have Sam cut my hair (except the time when a dashing young woman gave me a great cut for a big event, but I didn't catch her name). He is from Lebanon and we have had some interesting discussions about the political and religious situation in his home country. He is friendly, but not overbearing. I love his gentle style with the scissors and I've never been disappointed with my cut. It is around $45 (without tip) for the standard wash & cut, whcih is quite reasonable in this Upper West Side neighborhood. more
