Editorial review from Citysearch 2/21/2013

this is my last sam ash experiance\r around 2003 or maybe 04 my grandfather told me he was going to buy me a bass . I had went to sam ash the week prior (i live a hour away) and did some looking . i decided on the american delux jazz bass , a almost 1100 dollar bass. during the week i called and told sam ash i was coming to get the bass , they said they would have it ready.\r \r I arrived to see the bass sitting behind the counter in all its glory. yet i decided to go to the bass room for one last look to make sure i didn't want the american delux precision. the sales dude comes back with my wife and i and of coarse there are no price tags on the basses at this time.i pulled down what i thought was a american delux p bass and after playing decided on it .\r \r long story short the sob didnt tell me this was a highway 1 series (a 600dollar bass} and sold it to me for 1100 . stupid me didnt find out what it was till 2 years later after loosing the reciept and i called sam ash and they did nothing!!!!\r \r i will never buy from these con artist theives again more

woodwind, and brass staff 9/2/2011

I can't relate to any guitar issues people seem to have, but I play saxophone, and my experience with the guys at the brass, and woodwind counter has always been a good one. I have not had any issues, nor do I expect any in the future, I sure hope not anyhow. Keep up the good work guys. more

JT is THE best!!! 10/24/2010

Wow, I'm surprised to read ANY bad reviews of this place, since I have had nothing but EXCEPTIONAL experiences there. As a matter of fact, I have had a Spector Bass on layaway since June. I got a phone call from J.T. today telling me that he'd knock off $100 if I paid the final $90 today! WOW! AND, he would either ship it to me in Los Angeles for FREE or I can have my buddy in Hendersonville pick it up for me. I would suggest that if anybody is having an issue, simply ask for J.T., he's extremely professional and very cool. I'm sure he would give you only the best of results like he did for me. -George more

Defective Gear & Bad Service 2/22/2010

Reading the review of the guy who bought a defective guitar that buzzed like a bee reminded me of my experience at this very same store. In '04 I bought a reproduction of a '54 Fender Strat. I paid around $1,000 for it. Has a nice sunburst finish and sounds great.....when it's not buzzing...... I initially played the guitar in the store for quite a while. The store is huge and open, so you can't hear all the little nuances you might hear in a small setting. Anyway, I got the guitar home, plugged it in and I could hear the buzzing....especially with a clean tone. Well since I had like 6 free setups, I decided to take the guitar back and let their chief tech JOHN MANN take a look at it and adjust. A week later, I picked up (assuming this guy had fixed the problems) and it was still buzzing....yeah I know, shouldn't have left the store without checking. So I then take it back to the store so John could work it again. This little punk at the front counter asked why I was bringing the guitar in and I told him it buzzed. And he said to me, ""Are you sure it isn't new-string buzz?"" I about flipped out since I own several other guitars and have been playing over 20 years. So I pretty much ignore his stupid assessment and talk to somebody else. Well I leave the guitar at the store for JOHN MANN to work on once again. I also leave my number for him to call me and discuss the problems I'm having with it. He eventually calls and we talk but he seemed very reluctant to do anymore work......I guess because it was a freebie and not for a ""paying customer."" I finally get the guitar back and it STILL ISN'T RIGHT!!!!! So I get frustrated and take it to another tech. Come to find out, MR. JOHN MANN STRIPPED OUT THE BOLT in the neck to where the neck wasn't even mounted properly to the body!!! The intonation wasn't even set right. The tech looked at my guitar in amazement and told me, ""I hope you didn't pay for this setup."" Now it's been over 5 years later and although my new tech has done wonders to correct the issues with the neck, my $1,000 guitar still buzzes!!! For the record I'd like to say that JOHN MANN and SAM ASH MUSIC are total crap and ripoff artists. I will never do business with this company every again. And if I happen to run into JOHN MANN anywhere in the Nashville area, I'm gonna give me a swift kick in the balls for my troubles! Pros: They sell guitars Cons: They sell defective guitars more

Complete Douchebags and Defective Gear 10/11/2009

So, I went to this store wanting a new guitar and a pedal. I got there at about 8:45 and they were supposed to be open until 10 that day. Within 20 minutes of looking around for an expensive guitar the salesman starts bitching at my friend and I to hurry up because he wanted to leave early. For some reason or another, I still decided to buy a $700 guitar, even though he was too busy bitching for me to get a thorough look at it. I got home and gave it a good look and noticed a few scratches that I didn't before. No big deal, I did talk the guy down $50 and they weren't too noticeable. Pros: Huge store Cons: Horrible staff and quality control more
