Find this place best seafood in all United States vs Japan even. Tuna and Sea Bass. The two are best ever. "Ira Todd Klein"

Not having been to this one-time seattle instituion for years, I decided to take some out of town guests here before the tour. Seems as if good ol' Salty's has fallen on hard tim...

Nice to look at, but don't bother eating here 8/17/2005

Salty's is quite possibly THE most overrated restaurant in Seattle. The view is nice, but at around $50 a person, I think that the food should be good also, unfortunately, it's not. The last time I went, everything went wrong. The service was bad, the food was bad, and the menu lacked choices. The seafood items on the menu were completely pedestrian, and were even poorly prepared. The presentation was more like high school cafeteria than haute cuisine. On the other hand, the dessert was decent. So I recommend going there for cocktails or dessert, but don't waste your team eating here. It will only be a disappointment. For a nice special occassion dinner, go to the space needle instead. more

Stunning views 8/17/2005

We had our rehersal dinner here and the views over the water were stunning, and just about perfect. The food isn't perfect, but yet very tasty. Service is wonderful and everyone was very pleased and got a great view of downtown Seattle. The room wasn't very fancy but again, the view made up for it. The price is a little high for the taste of the food. more

Northwestern Lite 8/17/2005

Perfectly situated on Alki in West Seattle, Salty's is a large, classic surf-and-turf restaurant that seems to be catering to out-of-towners' expectations of Northwestern cuisine. The place is beautiful, and the view from most points in the dining room is spectacular. The staff is friendly and polite, and the food is prepared beautifully. Salty's has many of the right ingredients...and yet. The menu lacks variety, and the food is decidedly bland for all its beauty. The notable exception to this is the dessert menu, which has choices both varied and flavorful. The dining room is very noisy, with a continuous clatter of silverware from a centrally located bussing station ruining any chance of a peaceful dining experience. Seattle has so many good seafood restaurants in this price range, and Salty's just isn't quite there. This is definitely not the place for a first date, but perhaps just right for entertaining your finicky Midwestern relatives. more

Pretty good place 8/13/2005

This is a very popular place for the formal dance crowd. It's situated right by the water which makes it a romantic setting. The prices are fairly reasonable. I've eaten here twice my life and service has been pretty good. The first was on a date and the second time, it was rented out for a birthday party. Overall, you will not be disappointed. more

Luxurious Dining 8/7/2005

If you like fine dining, Salty's on Alki is beyond that. It is one of the most luxurious places I have ever been to to eat. It is located right on Alki Beach overlooking an exquisite view of the waters and downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. The food needless to say is just as good as the view. Their salmon is delicious and their clams are superb. Its a great romantic spot, very classy, make sure that you dress really nice if you eat here. They have lots of parking and there are also lots of people that get dropped of in Limo's here. As I said its very luxurious, and very pricy as well. But its a great place to experience, even if its just once. So check it out. more

Stuff your face at the buffet! 6/16/2005

One of my personal favorite things in life is eating. Quality is important, but so is quantity! Salty's on Alki is a great mixture of both on Sunday's. They have the best buffet in town featuring a mixture of seafood and the traditional breakfast goods. Visit on an empty stomach and with some loose fitting pants. My personal favorites were the Fisher scones that you can enjoy while waiting for your table and also the made to order goods. They have crepes, pasta, and custom omelets. Not to mention the seafood, this is where you can really get your money's worth. You name it they have it. Just be prepared to eat and block off a good portion of your day. After you walk away from Salty's you will be extremely satisfied, but too full to do anything! more

Good food. Miles from World Class though. 6/9/2005

Above all Saltys has the best view in Seattle overlooking the bay seeing the whole city of Seattle from West Seattle. It is gorgeous. The waitstaff is very nice and attentive. The prices are not worthy of the meals. I always feel like Im paying for the view. I bring relatives there from out of town for that experience only. As a local I would never go there myself. Dinner is served ala Carte. more

Something new, a skyline view 5/27/2005

There are many great seafood restaurants with beautiful views (and if you want to stay on the city side of the bay, I agree with the review on Ray's Boathouse) but I think the Seattle skyline view from Salty's is absolutely fabulous, especially at night. And there's not only a view. The food is great to boot and every time I've been there the service has been right on. P.S. If you're ever looking for a seafood brunch, I've not yet found any seafood restaurant that could beat the buffet at Salty's. It's *awesome*! more

Must be Truthful 5/11/2005

I might be the only person in Seattle, let alone the planet who can pass up on a Salty's dinner, even if it were free. First of all I think the price is far too high for the food. They often times go out of the box with disasterous results. How about caesar salad! Take one half a head of romaine, grill it and then drizzle it with caesar dressing. And believe me, the price was dearly. Forget it. Like Nachos (comparible to the ones you can buy at the 7-11 across the street) two drinks and hey hey there's $40 out the door. Sorry their brunch is good but other than that, save your money. Also poor choice on that awful junk they put out front and called it "art". more

A touch of Tiburon 4/29/2005

Salty's Restaurant, in West Seattle, facing Elliott Bay and Seattle has a great setting and a great happy hour from 3-6pm weekdays. On a sunny day you can sit outside in the sun, look at one of the better cityscape views, and drink and eat for a surprisingly reasonable sum. It reminded me of sitting at the Dock, in Tiburon, CA, looking across San Francisco Bay. more
