Salon O

I am a student bringing in parttime money. I have a new roommate and she has offered me, a buy one get one free coupon 3 times this month. I keep telling her, ""No I like my hairdresser from Salon O"" due to the fantastic job she did. I've only been there once and got great compliments. She cut my hair perfect and the next time I go, I am cutting it shorter! I am due for another with the bottomline: ""I will never switch no matter what"" is how good Salon O's hair dressers are! Everyone is friendly and un-snobbish (so important!) plus the Salon is always clean and when I go there, I feel special. As far as Zoe123, sounds like other issues going on, and not Salon O. more

I love SalonO - I've heard other reviewers say they're expensive, yet I find their best stylists to be very competetive, if not less expensive than other salons. Brittany Hill has magic in her fingers! She has managed to do the impossible, give me pretty highlights while maintaining a dark brunette I was born with. Past stylists eventually turn me totally blond, but Brittany has found the secret. The salon itself has a great vibe - you know everyone working there wants to be there, and are interested in improving their craft with every client. I love that Felicia, the owner, requries her stylists to get on-going training on an annual basis. I know I'm getting cutting edge work and products in a really nice environment. And this is the ONLY salon I've ever been to where the reception staff is professional. They too, like the stylists, are damn good at what they do. I never feel like I'm trusing a hair appointment to part-time teenager who does the job after school. Hands down the best salon experience I've had in Salt Lake City, including the really expensive and snobby salons! more

I have been going to Salon O for about 6 months now and I cannot believe how many comments I get about my hair. Brittany is amazing! She not only styles my hair but she waxes my nose and ears keeping me looking sharp. I have my 23 year old daughter going to Brittany now also and she loves her as much as I do. If you want an amazing style or color by a wonderful stylist call Brittany and you will be happy. more

I just got my hair done by Kat Ledford -- I love it! She was super sweet, energetic, and easy to talk to. She also gave me great recommendations on product and several samples to take home. I also love that they do free bang trims! more

Kat Ledford and Katherine are the most amazing!!! Kat Ledford is truly the best stylist I have ever found! I've been going to her for over a year now - which is amazing considering before her, I had never found a stylist outside of the ones in my family that I have ever gone to consistently. I trust her so much that I just let her ""do her thing"". I have never been comfortable letting anyone do that. She knows my style and never tries to get me to do something I'm not comfortable with. She cuts and colors my hair to perfection. Every time I leave the salon - I feel amazing and can't wait for my next visit. I could go on forever about how much I love this girl! Katherine also gives awesome facials. Unlike most, she never leaves the room to let the masks sit, instead she gives great massages and make the whole experience complete. My skin has never looked better! more

I have tried a number of salons around Salt Lake, I have yet to find someone do my hair as well as Ann. I am very picky when it comes to my hair and Ann sat and listened to exactly what I wanted and then cut it to perfection. She is a professional in every sense of the word. I will continue going back to Ann not only because I loved my haircut but because she is the BEST!!! more

Kat Ledford at Salon O is a very talented stylist who is not only extremely knowledgeable in fashionable and unique cuts and colorings, but in the chemistry and science behind it all too, which makes all the difference in an excellent cut and dye job. She has brilliantly taken me from the boring brown color I walked in with when we first met to a gorgeous strawberry blonde, then through a careful process to a true blonde, all the while managing my expectations perfectly and keeping my hair healthy, and more recently to a rich dark brown. I've also always thought that I'd been cursed with eternally stick straight hair, but Kat showed me the right styling and products to make it curly and wavy incredibly easily! Each time I come in is an awesome experience as Kat works with me and my ideas to come up with an amazing outcome, and she's so much fun the whole time too! I truly look forward to my visits with Kat Ledford at Salon O! more

I left lunatic fringe a couple of years ago just to have amy continue to do my hair. I don't trust anyone else to touch my hair. I have never had a problem with the staff and the salon is nice and professional. They also offer wine which is a plus! yes it is expensive, but definitely worth it. Go to super cuts if you don't want to pay for a professional. more

I decided to try Salon O after I read all the positive reviews because my own hairstylist was out of town and I needed a haircut for an event. I made an appointment with Ann (she seemed more experienced compared to others). She was very nice and good at what she did BUT I really didnt think the haircut I got was worth $80 (based on habit I also put down $10 tip as well which I totally regret, so total was $90). I even felt she left my edges half done since her next customer had already arrived and then I had to tell her to trim them since they looked so bulky and not something an experienced hairstylist would do! so, all and all it was just OK and nothing special and definitly not worth the $90 I paid. so I left unhappy and I regret that I spent that much money and time on something that was not worth more than what they do in joint salons.\r The salon itself is just your average to somehow nice salon and again nothing special about it, there are many other similar or even better salons in the city, it even smelled like a bleach/cleaning chemicals in there. So, I went back to my own hairstylist who charges a little less but I absolutely love the haircut I get and get many many more compliments and the salon is way nicer. I even had to go to him couple of weeks after to trim the edges so I had to pay something else to repair what Ann had done.\r I think when a salon has this many consistent 5 star ratings and asks its customers to do it or in their own language ""rave about it"", should keep in mind that it also needs to keep up with the expectations that comes with it.! more

Ann Stolworthy is great! She takes care of me, my husband and my daughter's salon needs. Her scalp massages are so relaxing. Her waxing and eye lash-eye brow tints are lovely. And her knowledge and application of hair color are first rate. more

Kat Ledford at Salon O rocks! Kat paid close attention to what I wanted from my haircut experience. She was personable and very careful to make sure she wasn't doing anything that I didn't like. The scalp massage with essential oils at the beginning is awesome and Kat does a very complete, stunning job. Kat is very talented and has lots of interesting ideas if you're stumped and don't know what you want. The neighborhood is awesome, you can always run across the street for a Village Inn breakfast or jog down the street with your new hairdo to grab a delicious bite from Paradise Bakery. Salon O is easily accessible from tracks right on 400 South. I'll be back and if you're looking for a new stylist, try Kat Ledford! more

I was looking for a place that did feather Extentions and found Salon O here on Citysearch. I started to look at the reviews, I always read all the bad reviews first and that what sold me on SALON O. (weird I know) On every bad review the owner of Salon O had taken the time to address the complaint and offered to help fix it anyway she could. I thought that was so professional! It built up my faith in Salon O before i had even gone there. Their service was great! Kat washed and styled my hair perfectly. She was very chatty and friendly. There was no awkward silence with Kat:) My feathers only took a minute to place in and the girl doing them had many colors to choose from. Salon O also has the best prices for FEATHERS! 3 for $10 or 5 for $15. more

I made an appt for same day and got in within an hour and had a wonderful experience with Derek. He was very knowledgable and helpful. Very calm demeanor. He took time to make sure the color was perfect and did an excellent job! He made recommendations and gave me some samples which I really appreciated and I will definitely go back. more

I have no idea how this place won Best Salon. I tried it, and then went somewhere else. It won Best Salon, so I gave it another try, with a different stylist this time - thinking the problem might have been the stylist, not the Salon. Nope. Still bad. \r \r I scheduled a hair color a couple months early. They called a few hours before my appointment to say that stylist had quit 3 weeks ago, and my appointment was cancelled. They had 3 weeks, but called and cancelled my appointment the same day as the appointment. Talk about unprofessional. \r \r Scheduled a new appointment for a hair cut, but no longer trusting them to do a color - which was smart. The sides weren't cut evenly. I had to go to a different Salon (Salon NV - GREAT place! Wonderful! Deserves Best Salon award) to get it fixed. No idea how bad it would have been if I'd also done a color. \r \r Over priced. Pretentious. Unprofessional. Bad service. Bad haricuts. You get the idea... Please, do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else. more

My stylist is Ann Stolworthy and I have actually been going to her for over 13 years now. She has never given me a reason to even think of trying someone else. Recently, however, she amazed me when I told her I wanted to hide the gray in my hair. She said she had a product that would be perfect for me and IT WAS!! I absolutely love my hair, and so does my wife. It hid the gray perfectly, which is exactly what I was looking for. In fact, I have gotten several compliments on my hair since she colored it last week. Ann always does my hair exactly how I like it, but the color she put in was perfect! I love that I can tell her what I want and not worry if that’s what I’ll actually get. I am a guy, but I have also referred several of my female friends to Ann over the years and they too have now been going to Ann for years. If you read this, thanks Ann, you’re the best, truly.\r By the way, I love coming to Salon O too! I have been going to Salon O since it opened and have never had a bad experience. I know everyone has their own experiences, but when I saw what someone else wrote about Salon O having terrible service, I had to say something. I disagree completely! I showed up a little late to my appt. They refused to do my hair. Not only was I there within the limit they said was their cutoff for late appts., and they never mentioned this time existed in the first place; but they also admitted my hair would take much longer than they had planned, even though I specifically told them my hair was thick and long. I would not be able to go in until the following week, more

I recently moved to Salt Lake City from NYC and was skeptical I would be able to find someone to cut my hair as well as my stylist at Arrojo Studio in Manhattan. While driving downtown one morning I happened to see Salon O's giant sign advertising they were Best of Citysearch 2009. As soon as I got home I checked them out online, found Amy and promptly booked my appointment, I arrived at Salon O with several hair magazines and different cuts/styles I wanted to talk to Amy about. She really took the time to listen to what I wanted and my lifestyle and together we came up with a haircut that we both felt would work perfectly with my needs. Amy really took a lot of time and care cutting my hair. She then taught me how to style it several different ways depending on the time I had and look I wanted for any particular day. I have never had someone take so much time!!! She truly is amazing!! Love her!!!! I have received so many compliment on my hair and immediately give all credit to Amy and Salon O. I'm telling you, she is magic! I will certainly be going back for more services. more

I actually went there because they had so many good reviews on this site. I was hoping to come home give it 5 stars and talk about how pleased I am with my hair. But instead I cried for about 3 hours when I got home. I went in to see Bethany who was super sweet and gave me an awesome haircut. She talked with me about coloring my hair for about 20 min and I felt like she really knew what I wanted. She pulled a couple of magazines and one was of Mary Kate Olsen, who has super blonde hair. I told her that’s what I wanted but with some depth. I’m already really blonde so she said she was going to put in 3 diff blonde colors. Well 2 and a half hours later she pulled off the tin foil and my hair looked nothing like what we talked about. It’s super brown with some blonde in it. It was cute but NOT BLONDE. It took everything inside to not instantly start balling. I’ve been growing my hair out for two years trying to get long blonde hair. I’m not really sure what happened next. She said she could pull out the brown without frying it and I told her YES I would love that. She was kinda frazzled since her next client had already arrived. So she went and talked to him and went to the back where I thought she was going to get the solution to fix my hair. She came back and talked me out of pulling the brown out… “It’s going to fade to where you want it, I know it will. Just go home wash it a few times and see what happens”. Well what was I supposed to do? She blow dried my hair and pushed my ass out of there. I felt like she didn’t care about how I was feeling. It seemed like a nice salon but I felt horrible when I left. She said she’d call me in 7 days and see what I felt like and she’d be more than willing to fix it. Why did I have to pay 170 bucks for hair that she was going to fix? I drove up from Spanish Fork (about an hour) to get to this salon. Do I really want to drive two hours round trip to get my hair fixed?? How do I know she can really fix it? This just sucks. I REALLY REALLY hope I can come back and make another review (or just delete this one) and talk about crap happens…but crap can be cleaned up. Soo One star for a good haircut. My family has been going to Salon O sinc eit opened, and with damn good reason. Of all the stylist that have come and gone there is one that's done my hair better than anyone else. Kennedy not only captures your vision, but shares it with you, as well as shows you how to successfully accomplish it. She can do all manners of styles.\r For seven years I had my hair cut short in various pixies and bobs because of its unruly thickness--it was like wolves fur :( But after growing it out long enough, she helped me achieve the healthly look of a Snow White with her clever use and simplified method of extensions. We have all had the braids, which itch constantly but the clips she uses makes it soo much more bearable. I wholeheartedly recommend her and once you see what I'm talking about, you will too :) more
