Great Hair! 8/28/2007

The first time I went to Pangea salon I was warmly welcomed by Leticia, who quickly offered to cut my hair. I was impressed by the great atmosphere and the quick service. Not only did she do an amazing job, but she also kept me interested by offering me quick tips on how to style my hair. I believe she's a great hair stylist with a awsome personality. I highly recommend a hair cut from Leticia. more

The most consistant haircuts ever. 8/24/2007

Denise has been cutting my hair now for over 5 years. Not only is she a lovely woman, she's an expert in her field. From the very first meeting I knew she was the stylist for me. Her cuts are so consistant, you never have to worry what you're going to look like when she's done!! When she told me she was switching salons, all I asked was "where"? There was no doubt in my mind that I was going to go with her. When I first went to Denise at Pangea's I immediately felt a sence of tranquility. The color scheme in the salon is very inviting and there's an aroma that just calms your every nerve!! If you're looking for an excellent and precise haircut, ask for Denise at Pangea Salon. Pros: Warm atmosphere, friendly and professional staff. Cons: Absolutely none. more

Excellent stylist 8/23/2007

I too have followed stylist Tanya Balon to this lovely new salon- indeed I would go to the ends of the Earth to have my hair expertly highlighted and cut by Tanya. She leaves my blond hair looking totally natural and gloriously sunkissed. Over the years she has helped me make some great and subtle changes to my hairstyle. I can't recommend her more highly. more

Leticia's been cutting my hair about a year now and I had to follow her to Pangea. I really like the cuts and the patience she has with my hair! The place has a serene atmosphere and it's nice to be welcomed so graciously when you walk in! I recommend this salon highly! more

Great Salon! 8/23/2007

This is truly a great salon! I went to Pangea after reading rave reviews on Citysearch and discovered that every compliment from their customers is accurate. Every single employee was skilled in a specific area, and they were all responsive and friendly to their customers. I went in to repair a miserable "flat" excuse for a haircut that I received at a chain salon, and walked out with a fabulous cut, brilliant highlights, and a new attitude about my appearance. Charlene (with 10 years experience) did the highlights, and working very quickly with great skill, she gave me brilliant, well-blended color that made my hair come to life. Nadine (with 17 years experience) cut my hair and gave me great layers with precision and speed. These people really know what they're doing when it comes to hair, and while the tab was a bit pricey, it was worth it. Definitely one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten! Pros: Staff are highly skilled, friendly and responsive. Cons: Price is steep, but average for city salons. more

Best talent, lovely salon 8/23/2007

This summer I followed my favorite hairderesser, Tanya Balon, to the lovely new Pangea Salon. I have been a faithful devotee of Tanya's talents since discovering her fifteen years ago. She has always been able to merge my aesthetic desires with the natural character of my hair, to produce superior results. Also, she is a lovely person, who always makes me comfortable discussing my objectives and deciding how best to achieve them. Recently I have also drawn on her skills as a colorist, with highlights which naturally restore my original hair color. I continue to send my friends. Highly recommended! BEST COLOR DAY IN MY LIFE 8/22/2007

I was walking down 17th street then i saw Pangea salon. I never walk in to a salon before without someone's referal, but something about this place made me walk in. The vibe in the salon was so relaxed and inviting. I met Tanya Harper the owner of the salon and we had a consultaion. She was the only colorist in my 15yrs in NY that got what i wanted with my color. She gave me a new stlye, look and attidude, it was the best color day of my life. To me Choosing a stylist is like choosing a doctor, and when you find a good one, you stick with them. So you know I was really hesistant to venture out when my Stylist went on vacation before my sister's wedding. I tried Nadine when she was at Vidal Sasoon and five years later We're still together, I followed her straight to Pangea. She really understands my hair and makes me feel comfortable. So Nadine....No Vacations for you! more

Charlene is the best colorist in the WORLD!!! 8/22/2007

I have followed Charlene from Sassoon to Arrojo and now to Pangea and I will continue to follow her wherever she goes. Why you say? Because she is the best ever. Ever since meeting Charlene I have not had one complaint on the color that she provides. I trust her with her advise, she is extremely professional and unbelievably attentive and caring. Tanya Balon is the best 8/22/2007

I've been going to Tanya Balon since I first moved to the city 5 years ago and have never gone to anyone else since then. I could go on and on about how nice she is and how pleasant she is to talk to and how professional and prompt and on and on and on...which is all true but here's the bottom line....When I walk out onto the street after getting a hair cut from Tanya, women look at me and smile. It happens everytime. And I can tell when I need to see Tanya again...it's when the women start casually looking at me and casually looking away. I have no idea how she does it. I've also gotten tons of compliments from women as if I'm the one who cut it. Well that's all I've got. So guys...go to Tanya and tell her you'd like to get the "head turner" haircut you read about on citysearch. Pros: Great location....right up from Union Square more

Best Haircutter in NYC 8/21/2007

Our hair is all-important, of course, and who can we trust absolutely without paying a fortune? The best all-around hairstylist I've ever found in New York City is Tanya Balon. If I tell Tanya Balon that I have a business meeting in two hours, I know I'll show up for it looking perfect, period, end of story. Personally, she is a really congenial, cheerful person who always boosts my spirits. The salon is conveniently located and really nice. The day I met Tanya Balon was my lucky day, because my business clients are always impressed with my professional appearance and at the same time my husband thinks I'm cute. Looking Perfect for the Interview 8/21/2007

I told Tanya Balon that I was going on a job interview and needed a businesslike look. Twice in two months, she gave me haircuts that made me look like a million bucks. I felt so confident, and I am happy to tell you that I was hired by both clients. We cannot control the economy and other crazy factors, but we can control our haircut. The salon is bright, cheerful, and relaxed. Best Salon, Best Staff! 8/20/2007

After getting my haircut there the other day, Pangea is my new favorite salon in NYC. It is a hip, clean salon with a very nice and attentive staff. I was very well taken care of & my hair looks great! Nadine is an amazing hairdresser! I am very picky about my hair but she does such a great job. Ask for her when you go to Pangea! more

Best Salon and Great Customer Service 8/19/2007

I was in Manhattan for a summer internship and needed to find a salon that could handle my coarse/thick hair. I found Pangea and have continued to go back ever since. My stylist Nadine not only does an excellent job each week when I get a Blow-Out but the other stylists/colorists in the salon are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is always very comfortable. The best thing about this salon is that I have been able to call and get an appointment on short-notice. They always try their best to accomodate their customers--another example of their great customer service. The stylists and colorists are best-in-class and there is someone who comes in on Saturdays who is excellent at shaping and arching eyebrows. I had mine done for the first time ever at Pangea and I was very pleased. I highly recommend this salon that not only has great stylists and colorists but also because the atmosphere is inviting and enjoyable. Pros: Ambience, Customer Service more

Best Hair Salon in New York City 8/16/2007

Most of the times I've gone to hair salons I have never gotten the exact haircut I always ask for, until I went to Pangea Salon. Leticia, one of the stylist, gave me the exact haircut I wanted and was very pleased with it. Since then she has become my personal hairstylist. I highly recommend Pangea Salon to everyone. The friendly staff, and relaxing atmosphere will make you feel at home more

great haircuts for men and women 8/11/2007

I've been following Nadine since her days at Vidal Sassoon... My hair is curly and for the longest time no one was able to cut it well. Since meeting Nadine (nearly 6+ years ago) my hair has never looked better. She is easy-going, friendly and "gets" curly hair. (I've tried Devachan several times and I can confidently say that Nadine does better work than they do.) The calming atmosphere at Pangea is unlike any NYC salon and the prices are very reasonable for the amazing work that they do. My fiance also gets his hair cut by Nadine and is always being complimented for it. She truly is the best! more
