Thomas is the only Hair stylist in Wilmington That I trust with my curly hair.

Worst

My haircut and color cost $125. While the haircut was not bad, It was not worth that much and one side was slightly uneven. Plus, my brown color faded after a few weeks to a bra...

Best Salon! 1/8/2012

Thomas was the best! Had the best haircut and color ever! Just got new chairs while I was there. Experienced the new and old chairs. The new ones were very comfortable and more back support. Will be going back! Would highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a friendly, good salon! Way to go Thomas! 5 stars!! more

AAmazing Experience at Salon Beyond Basics 10/17/2011

What a wonderful experience I had at SBB with my stylist, Heather. She is a stylist that definitely ""goes beyond"" to make you feel special and I finally have a ""hair style"" that is trendy and youthful. She is very knowledgable about color and hair products and gave me a rich, warm color that looks amazing with my new hairstyle. I haven't gotten this many compliments on my hair in years. Heather is on her way to being a ""Super Star"" at SBB. I will stay with Heather and SBB. more

There is no place I would rather be than Salon BB 9/27/2011

I have been a part of the SBB family for over 2 years. Every visit is a wonderful experience. Beginning with a warm greeting at the front desk, to a feirce therapuetic scalp massage at the shampoo bowl to Kendall's chair...you are made to feel like royalty. Kendall, owner and master stylist has been responsible for my ""natural ""(wink wink) blonde hair since I walked through the front door 2 years ago. He has an amazing eye for color and cut and most recently extensions. If Kendall is booked just ask for Bethany, Thomas or Chris...they all can make you look and feel like a super star....oh and GUYZ...Salon beyond basics totally gets you!! Get the latest mens trends and products..I would not send my boyfriend anywhere else... more

Edward is the Best Stylist EVER 3/10/2010

Edward has been doing my hair (and my husband's) for 5+ years in Las Vegas and recently moved back home to North Carolina. I miss him terribly but you are in for a treat. He's the absolute best. Not only does he give absolutely fabulous haircuts, he's also a Master Colorist. And, to make things even better, he also can do make-up for those special occasions. Trust me on this one - - you couldn't find anyone better. more

Finally! 2/25/2010

After moving here 4 years ago and trying at least 6 different stylists in town (yes I AM a little picky about my hair), I have finally found the guy-Thomas Esenbock- who can make it happen. Beautiful color that stays in and true talent in selecting tones/shadesthat work together. He also gives a great haircut and really listens to what your vision is. Definitely a perfectionist and SO worth it ! I love this salon, it's very happening (lots of stylists here) so I feel like I'm actually in a city. Very bright, clean and friendly. If you're new in town and/or a blonde or wanna-be blonde, this is the place and Thomas is the man ! Pros: awesome haircolor, great atmosphere more

What a GREAT experience 11/20/2009

Un...be...lieveable!!!!! I read the reviews on Kendall at Beyond the Basics and thought I would go for a consultation. One thing that impressed me right away was that Kendall really listened to me and the concerns I had about my hair. He took the time to learn my likes and dislikes as well as my lifestyle before determ...ining what kind of style would be best for ME! I decided to jump in and give him free rein to do whatever he thought best and the results were nothing short of AMAZING!! My hair had severe chemical damage and he literally transformed it. It's such a versitle style and I love the fact that I am not locked into one look. I can dress it up or go sassy and fun. I am 52 years old and never looked better in my life. The first words out of my boyfriends mouth were ""WOW...you look a lot younger!"" He LOVED my new style. In my opinion Kendall is not a stylist...he is an artist and I highly recommend him. Five stars are not enough to describe him or the salon. It was a great experience all the way around. I look great and I feel great about the way I look. I choose him........ because I am worth it!!! more

I have been receiving facials on a regular schedule for the past 4 years in Raleigh but didn't know where to go in Wilmington until I was referred by a friend. I finally located Carol at Salon Beyond Basics & Day spa 2 months ago after relocating to Wilmington. An overall beautiful experience 4/22/2009

Kendall started styling and coloring my hair 14 years. He took my burnt, fried, rust colored hair to a fabulous, classy, sophisticated blonde. I felt beautiful and runway ready..... But as the economy dropped, I searched for the same quality at a cheaper price. So I strayed from the rejuvenating, relaxing, friendly and talented salon of Kendal and his team. After trying several other salons and hair dressers.... Even trying it myself, my husband called Salon Beyond Basics to get me back in Kendall's chair ASAP! He was tired of my hair looking terrible and copper. If you are a blonde, then you know "" copper"" is not what we consider "" California blonde"".... LOL! So Kendall and his team took me back. Now, again, I feel as though I am a classy blonde that looks forward to my hair appointments for many reasons.....I get compliments everywhere I go! In this case, you get what you pay for! I feel beautiful, which makes me happy, which in return makes my husband happy. You must look them up! Thanks Salon Beyond Basics! more

Sunny is THE BEST! 7/7/2008

I have been a customer of Sunny Blackwelder for over a year & have referred her to several other people who love her also. She listens to our ideas of what you want your hair to look like & then gives you her input on what she thinks will look best for your face shape, eye color, skin tone & even for your age! She's awesome! She is HONEST! And if the final outcome is not what you expected, she will make sure you have EXACTLY what you wanted before you leave the Salon. She's great & is only going to get better as time goes on. You've gotta go see Sunny! She is worth every penny I pay her! more

Sunny Rocks!!! 1/7/2008

I have been looking for a good hair stylist for YEARS! I couldn't seem to find one who would be innovative and creative; yet still do a style and color that looked best on me and fit MY personality. That was until I met Sunny!!! She truly got to know me and figured out what I was looking for in a cut and color. We all want to have hair that looks best on us and yet still feel like ""ourselves"". She created a style that works well for my hair; texture and manageability. She paid attention to the shape of my face and skin tone and went with a look that worked well with both. She understood that I will not realistically put too much time and effort daily, into fixing my hair; and made it so that I could do this look myself! I have had tons of compliments and feel that I look younger and more vibrant. VERY STYLISH AND MANAGABLE!!! Thanks Sunny!!! I will be back!!! Pros: Staff very polite, Clean environment, On schedule! Great atmosphere! Friendly Staff!!! 1/7/2008

I went to Salon Beyond Basics and got an appointment with Sunny; I was nervous at first as I have not had someone new cut my hair in years. She was very reassuring and I felt very comfortable with her. She did exactly what I requested and didn't ""push"" me into doing a style that would not suit me. I recently just tried Salon Beyond Basics Spa and LOVED IT!!! I had a massage, manicure/pedicure, and facial! It was quiet and relaxing. I wasn't rushed and everyone was very friendly. My first visit but definetly not my last. Pros: spent time to discuss services more

Uneven, Expensive Haircut and Color 8/18/2007

My haircut and color cost $125. While the haircut was not bad, It was not worth that much and one side was slightly uneven. Plus, my brown color faded after a few weeks to a brassy red color, even though I bought the expensive salon products to help prolong color. I won't have my hair done there again. more

The best Salon Experience in Town 8/31/2006

I really love this salon. They are the friendliest salon in town. I always get offered something to drink and generally they run on time or alittle sooner. I really have enjoyed going here and would recommend it to anyone. Pros: on time, clean, friendly more

First and last 3/9/2005

I have only been to this salon once but I wouldn't go back if I was paid. I had highlighted hair and wanted to go lighter ( I was very specific) I walked out a red tinted brown. I was so shocked I just paid and left, when I called to let them know I was unhappy they were belittling because ""we've never had any complaints before"". I was offered her services again to fix but with my hair worse than it had ever looked and I was not about to let them mess with it again. Pros: will fix if unhappy Cons: price, skill, attitude more
