Generally, I wouldn’t write reviews for restaurants because sometimes when expectations are not met, there are many reasons as to why. However, I do feel compelled to do so as –
1). A warning to other patrons. 2). A critical heads-up to the management of this establishment.
This past Mother’s Day I decided to patronize this restaurant with my wife, two children, sister in-law and cousin in-law, and although it was a bit crowded, it didn’t bother us too much. After all it was Mother’s Day. We were seated relatively quickly, but we noticed that the table was a bit dirty and thought that in an attempt to turn around the tables swiftly; this one was missed as a result. We waited for approximately 20 minutes, then after calling out to an employee, water was served. However, the day quickly depreciated from there. The water glasses were dirty, and the water itself was dirty with “stuff” floating in it. My wife then notified the waitress of this issue and a floor manager offered to assist with washing the glasses and refill them with water.
About 25 minutes later, we were served salad that was “old and soggy”, but to their credit the bread seemed to be freshly baked. I chose not to eat the salad, but other members of my party tried it and were quickly repelled by the texture and taste, as it was much worse than it appeared. My wife was served her fish shortly thereafter, so was my cousin in-law; however without the rice that she ordered. My son waited for 20 additional minutes before he was served a dish that he did not order. Meanwhile, my cousin in-law is “still” waiting for her rice and peas; me, my son, sister in-law waiting to be served.
We demanded to speak to a manager and were told that the waitress was a new employee. I explained that the service was unacceptable and that we were CT residents patronizing their restaurant. The main manager never even acknowledge our disappointment, he looked over a few times, but didn’t come over to find out what the issues were. We then had to wait an additional 25 minutes, before I demanded my check and that was yet another long wait and was incorrectly calculated.
Two years ago, we vowed never again to patronize this restaurant because of the ""old jerk chicken"" , but though that 2 years later their processes would change; we were so WRONG. The quality of the food is awful and the service continues to degrade even further.
Luckily, we knew of FOOTPRINTS, and though we waited a bit. They were professional, courteous and keep us informed of our wait status until we were seated. Thank goodness for FOOTPRINTS or this day could have ended much worse. Sally’s management should visit FOOTPRINTS or Gabrielle’s (City Island) to note what “Class” is and how patrons should be treated.
