Saigon Grill 3/25/2006

This place has INCREDIBLE Vietnamese food for really cheap prices. Almost all the vegetable/meat combo dishes I've had there have been wonderful & fresh (the only thing I didn't like once was some sort of plain beef dish); and, while the 'decor' of the place is pretty terrible (the place is also crowded, cramped and loud), what better incentive can you ask for to to take out/order in and cuddle up with your significant other for the night? Delivery is quick, and I've never had a problem in all the years I've ordered from this place. more

cheap, fantastic and fresh 9/23/2005

This place is amazing. All the food is really really fresh, and really really good. The prices are especially amazing for the upper east side and is quite possibly one of my favorite restaurants of all time. It's not the fanciest place around, but you the quality combined with the reasonable prices make it hard to beat. more

Big menu, quick and good food 9/20/2005

This is the greatest place to order or take out from because they have lightening speed delivery. It seems nearly impossible how fast they can get food to your door. They have a very extensive menu and the prices are very low. Their salads are good and the chef's specials are also tasty. This is my number 1 place to call up when I need food in a hurry! more

Cheap good meal 8/30/2005

This place is what I would call a Vietnamese style diner. It has a crowded, diner-style atmosphere so don't come in expecting a nice romantic place. The food is good and cheap so I guess you can't really complain. There is pretty much always a wait & I believe there are no reservations allowed. Service is really quick because they want you in and out as fast as possible. more

Very tasty 4/5/2005

When I lived in that neighborhood, it's the one restaurant I went to more than any other. Most things are delicious - friends of mine were partial to the soup; I preferred the chicken dishes. Very reasonable prices and decent portions. more

Fast, cheap, good 2/23/2005

Saigon Grill is always fast, always cheap, and always tasty. A perfect restaurant to have in your neighborhood (or in our case, close enough for delivery). If you go, however, at a busy time, be prepared to wait. And don't plan on lingering over your food. They can only serve food this good and these prices with a fast turn over. more

  • The Scene
Although the Upper East Side isn't usually known for its bargains, this is one. Neighborhood denizens may think they can keep this excellent and inexpensive eatery to themselves, but the secret is out and it's spreading. The eclectic crowd includes harried mothers too tired to cook for their children, businessmen looking for a quick meal, and older couples eager for a night out, all wanting the same thing: delicious food in a low-key atmosphere.

    The Food
While there are plenty of meat dishes, including the sweet and spicy Curry Ga with humongous slices of chicken mixed with eggplant, onions and coconut milk, and Bo Sate with sauteed beef, pineapple and crushed peanuts, seafood and vegetarian dishes make up most of the menu. The curried okra is crunchy and the vegetarian basket boasts a cornucopia of stir-fried greens served up in an edible pasta basket. Be sure to taste the incredible assortment of vegetable and seafood spring and summer rolls.
