Everyone kept telling me how wonderful this place was and how I had to try it out. Sagittarius even boasts about its own reputation. So, I finally decided to give it a try. I made an appointment for a haircut.
The receptionist asked me how much I was looking to spend. I was a bit taken aback because I've never had any spa or salon ask me that before. But I let her know how much I was willing to spend (quite a bit for a good haircut).
I was able to get seen that weekend. When I arrived, I was impressed with the look of the spa. I was told to change in a little room full of robes. There was simply a curtain and no door or lock (which proved to be not such a good thing later when changing back into my shirt).
Then I sat down and waited. After only a few minutes, someone came over to wash my hair. It was pretty chilly in the spa and I was looking forward to some really warm water and a good shampoo. The shampoo was only mediocre. The water was lukewarm. I did get a complimentary hand treatment (which basically just consisted of someone putting too much lotion on my hands and sticking them into semi-warm mitts).
Then I sat there with a wet head in a cold room for much too long. Eventually the stylist got to me.
I had brought a picture of the hairstyle I wanted. I was told it would be possible for me to have that cut. I had to stand up for my haircut and the floor was quite slippery.
The haircut was okay, but definitely not at all like the picture. My hair was frizzy when I left instead of sleek like it had been when I came in. And it was too short. I had asked for two inches to be taken off. She took off closer to six.
I had not been told how much my haircut would be, but it turned out to be quite reasonable. Especially considering I wasn't exactly thrilled with the cut.
All in all, it is a decent enough place, but certainly not worthy of all the hype, in my experience.
