Bad food and bad service 12/4/2009

I don't think a restaurant that has bad customer service deserves customers. I had bad tuna rolls there and told the sushi chef about it. He got angry and told me since I ordered them, I must eat them. I guess he was the manager of the restaurant too with a huge temper so no one really stood up for me. However, waitstaffs later came to me behind his back and apologize to me....but what good is that? I never went back again.\r Pros: Cheap Cons: bad food and bad service more

Servers need to DROp the attitude! 11/22/2009

Go to the Midtown location where the servers and management are glad to see you, greet you when you come in the door and don't act like they're doing you a favor by having to explain something on the menu. Pros: Not sure there is a 'pro' Cons: Service sucks a big one more

Got sick! BEWARE!!! 6/25/2009

Got sick - BEWARE!!!\r \r I wanted to share this information to all and please feel free to forward this to your loved ones.\r \r I got sick from eating at Ru Sans Buckhead, a couple weeks ago, and a week later, a friend did, too, in a separate incident. I called the restaurant to notify them, and they were fairly rude and dismissed me. \r \r I reported them to the Fulton County Board of Health, where they opened a claim to investigate. The investigator just called me to let me know of their visits and the results: the day they went there, they verified the WHOLE buffet of Ru Sans was out of temperature, so the inspectors requested all food to be thrown away. The restaurant received warnings, and disciplinary guidelines on how to fix the problem. When the inspectors stopped by for the follow up visit, Ru Sans STILL did not pass the tests. Now, the management of Fulton County Board of Health issued the order for the whole restaurant to undergo training, or they will close the place.\r \r I wanted to warn you so you can stay safe.\r \r Thank you,\r \r Maria Bormann \r Cons: FOOD out of temperature - AWFUL SERVICE - NEGLIGENCY more

AWFUL SERVICE! 5/13/2009

Run, don't walk away from this restaurant! The service is horrible, rushing you through the expansive menu and then making loud sighs when you ask for another minute to make your choice. The last time I was there, the server spilled hot tea on my thigh, said he was going to get a napkin and never came back. Even though this is much closer to my house, i travel the extra distance to the Midtown/edgewood location for much better service! Pros: menu variety Cons: servers more

Midtown location is THE BEST--AVOID BUCKHEAD LOCATION 8/27/2008

Midtown Rusans is FANTASTIC!!! Service is always excellent--sushi chefs are very friendly and accomodating. I recommend sitting at the bar so you get the cucumber and soy sauce appetizer--DELICIOUS. I dont eat fish so I always get shrimp sushi-- \r --Crunchy Mui Bueno and Toy Special are my favorites.\r --Mad Max's Special Roll with snow crab salad and wrapped in Cucumber with ponzu sauce--AWESOME!!\r --Banana Boat Maki is the most unique sushi you will ever have--slice of banana with crab and creme cheese. INCREDIBLE!\r --Gone with the Wind Special is a combination of small fish and shrimp rolls all rolled up in to a huge ball, fried and sliced. Really different!\r \r I have heard from MANY MANY people that the Buckhead location is completely awful. Its definitely worth the further drive to Midtown. more

The service was atrocious! And the food was sub-par. 3/7/2008

I frequent the RuSan's on Moreland Ave on a weekly basis so I thought I was aware of the level of service that a RuSan's had to offer. I was sadly mistaken at the location at 3365 Piedmont. All the waiters were in a fog, almost unaware that they were AT WORK. After waiting 10 minutes for anyone to come to the table I asked any waiter I saw for a menu. After asking 4 different waiters only to have them say, ""I'll get your server"" we finally got our menus. It was another ignorantly long amount of time before he came back to get our orders, which he got wrong on different occasions as well as arguing with us. They weren't busy or crowded so the lack of service and attention from the wait staff was MIND-BOGGLING! And the food was quite sub-standard. I love the Rising Sun Maki. Now their ingredients were fresh, but the overall taste was the opposite of delicious or RuSan's quality. I wanted to push people down.\r I'M STICKING TO THE MORELAND LOCATION! Pros: I was with friends Cons: I wanted to assault my server more

BAD BAD sushi 9/1/2007

My husband and I love RuSans in midtown and thought we would try the lunch buffet up in Buckhead. Big mistake. Service was non-existent. We were seated at a table that was filthy and unclean (the place wasn't too busy so there were other tables) and we refused to sit and had to wait and wait and wait for someone to come and wipe the table. When they came to wipe it the man acted so annoyed and mumbled to us to start eating and he'd take care of the table. Servers act annoyed to be serving you and rarely come to your table to fill up your drinks. The worst part? The food. The buffet was dirty, food had been siting out too long and once food was gone it was rarely replaced. The sushi tasted funny and some of the food had a cigarette smell to it. I could not believe how bad this place was since the RuSans in midtown rarely disappoints us. DO NOT GO HERE. FOOD AND SERVICE IS A RIP OFF AND THEY DON'T TREAT YOU WITH ANY RESPECT. Pros: nothing Cons: food is gross, service is bad more

Rude! Unprofessional! Never again 8/15/2007

Wow, I have been going to Rusan's locations for 7 years and have never experienced the Rudeness, nor the quality of service and food I did at this location. I had been dining at this location for 3 years and noticed the quality drop across the board. I chose to ignore due to low prices and habit of going there every other week. Server was extremely rude, asked him politely not to return to table. Returned, so I prepared to step away upon request of my girlfriend so she could handle the situation. Manager came storming towards and bumped me, yes bumped me, then proceeded to start yelling at me after I informed him that the server was rude. They, server and manager, proceeded to hover over my girlfriend yelling at her in the booth. THAT WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! I informed them we were leaving, dropped money for the meal and went to MF SUSHI instead! IF YOU WANT A GOOD TIME, PAY MORE AND GO ELSEWHERE! RUSAN'S IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! RUSAN HIMSELF KNOWS ME BY NAME AND AS A REGULAR! NO MORE! Pros: convenient location Cons: name it more

Lame servers 5/12/2007

My first dining experience at the Ru San's in Buckhead was last night (Friday 05/11/07). I have been to the other locations and have been satisfied with my experience.\r \r The factors that normally contribute to a dining experience are numerous. From the phone call to gain directions to the restaurant, to the initial greeting, to the seating and serving time, to ambience of the restaurant, to the knowledge and attitude of the server, to the presentation of the food, to the quality of the food, to the service of the little things (drinks, rice/bread/whatever), and the price.\r \r The price versus quality of food was very good. The ambience (specifically the decor of the restaurant and music) was nice. The presentation of the food was very good. Everything else was in dire need of improvement. The wait time was a lot longer then usual but that may have been due to it being Friday.\r \r My suggestion to the management would be to train their servers or get better quality servers. Your servers are snobs from the start. Attitudes-R-Us must have had a sale on servers. They need to be a little quicker with the little things. They should not do inappropriate things while at work. I mean, geeezzz!. My server slipped his phone number to me while I was on a date. \r \r Guess what his tip was? His phone number. Ka-ching!! Thumbs down as far as recommendations. Pros: The food versus price ratio was good. Trendy. Cons: The servers are snobby and not the best trained. more

various sushies. too many to name 4/16/2007

I thought that the food was above average, the decor fascinating and fun, and the music great but loud.\r \r The only reason (and it's a good reason) that we decided to put the rating below average was the service. It's a first come, first serve. We get that. \r \r What we detested was the extremely slow service from the wait staff. It took 30 minutes to get the wrong food. It took another 30 minutes to get the right food. We had to constantly remind the wait staff to get more drinks and the rice. The waitress caught an attitude when we informed her of the wrong food placed in front of us. \r \r It was funny though that it only took her one minute to give us our check. Pros: Food and atmosphere is very good. Cons: Slow, slow, slow wait staff more

Horrible Experience! 7/19/2005

First of all they don't take reservations, we waited for about 45 minutes and then the only table they had to offer was out on the balcony in pouring raining. It has a canopy over it, but when that wind is blowing you're getting wet. Second, the waitress brought my chicken w/rice out 30 minutes after everybody else's meal in the party, and she just brings me the chicken, but no rice. She tells me she forgot the rice and she will go get it. i waited another 20 minutes and couldn't wait anymore, so i went and found her and told her i needed my rice so i could eat my meal. She said ""oh sorry i forgot"". Then to top the whole night off, the waitress lost my credit card! Bottom line is i would never eat at this restaraunt again and it was a horrible experience. Cons: The waiting time, The service, Accomodations more

torn 10/19/2004

The sushi is good and there is lots of variety for both sushi-eaters and those who prefer other things such as teriaki or tempura. However, at least at the Piedmont location the service is consistently bad. EVERY TIME I go to RuSan's in Buckhead the service stinks. But the food is soo good. Its a tough decision. Pros: inexpensive, tasty Cons: , loud obnoxious music more

Sushi and more... 2/20/2003

This has become a favorite of my family for a special treat. Those of us that enjoy sushi have a wide variety of reasonbly priced and high quality nigiri and maki choices, although we don't usually go in for the unusual, copyrighted concoctions. Tuna, Salmon, Unagi and all the basics are as good as I have had anywhere. My wife loves the Shrimp Tempura by-the-piece, and my kids balance their limited sushi orders of tuna and salmon with bits of tempura and yakitori (my son even tried the squid-yakitori..and liked it!) We have dined as a family at both the Buckhead and Town Center locations. Fun and lively atmosphere is conducive to conversation. I also take advantage of the lunch buffet at the Buckhead location and it is the best $10 lunch around. Have also had the buffet at Town Center, and it is wonderful as well. Pros: Great Value, Consistent Quality more

Ru-San's is great! 1/20/2003

Ru-San's is a great restaurant...the food is always fresh and beautifully arranged. Lots of tempura dishes make it different from other sushi restaurants and the sauces are delicious. The service does leave a little to be desired, but the food definitely makes up for it. Pros: food, fair prices, fun atmosphere Cons: crowded, service more

Sushi without Service. 10/22/2002

To be fair to the quality of the actual sushi itself, most of it is prepared well and tastes are certainly unique compared to other sushi places. Overall, we enjoy the food and the creativity. What we do not enjoy is the service--we don't even mind the annoying long waits, but it's the service. Our server made us get up and move out of her area because we had already started a tab in the bar area with another server. Our new server was quite apologetic, but the experience ruined what could've been a nicer dining experience. Unpleasantly disappointed. Pros: Creative menu Cons: Long, crowded waits, Customer service more

Can't beat the price 5/13/2002

Ive tried a number of cheap sushi places and Rusans is the best of the bunch. You pretty much get what you pay for here, plus a little bit more. Best bets include eel and tuna sashimi, as well as spicy yakisoba noodles. The atmosphere is really low-key and accessible; my 2-year-old son had a fantastic time here. The menu is way too huge, but full of options for the sushi novice. Pros: price, kid-friendly, attentive service Cons: menu too large, quality more
