Great chill quiet indian food spot in the lower part of haight 3/4/2008

Delicious vegetarian options. Great friendly staff every time I have gone. Recommend the aloo gobi and the biryani rice. The food came out cool once and they had no issues with reheating it for us so we could enjoy it. Give them a chance, they have always come through for me Pros: well priced, not greasy, easy to get a table Cons: slow kitchen, uncomfortable seating (hard wooden benches) more

YUCK! 2/9/2008

I love Indian food and was excited to eat here after viewing it on a local restaurant review tv show. I left feeling like a rube for eating there.\r I didn't mind that the portions were ridiculously small because we couldn't eat what was delivered to our table. It was inedible. \r Curry Grant/ chicken curry = 3 small pieces of RAW (pink/red) CHICKEN in a soup of boring curry sauce. \r Nan = 1 cold & dry piece - no chewiness \r tamarind & mint chutneys were watery & bland\r The vegetable pakora was greasy and small\r We ordered the Chopra okra mild b/c I'm pregnant & keeping it mild to medium for now- it came spicy - so spicy that it tasted flat.\r The waitress noticed that we didn't eat much of the little food that was delivered to our table so asked sheepishly if we wanted to order more dishes - ""how about desert?"" We thanked her & asked for the bill.\r The service was ok.\r \r Pros: the place was empty, so we didn't have to wait Cons: raw chicken, small portions, boring use of spices more

Avoid this place 10/28/2007

Not the best Indian place in town! What a place not to dine on a Friday nite, Saturday nite or any other nite. We waited 20 minutes for the menu's, waited 25 minutes for them to take the order and then waited a full 60 minutes before our food arrived. The chicken tika masala, was all sauce with 3 pieces of chicken, the price $10.00! We ordered Aloo Gobi, they had run out, they sent out masala pumpkin...? Chicken Kariahi was all masala again with 3 pieces of chicken, the price 10! We ordered Lamb Birayani, they served us Chicken, the rice was white rice with chicken masala sauce and the rice was half cooked. I'm sorry to say, we will never visit this place again or recommend to our friends. PAKWAN on 16th & Valencia has more VALUE for your money and the FOOD is fantastic!!! Pros: No pros's Cons: Bad Indian Food and Poor Service more

Best Indian/Pakistani Food! Just Like London! 12/26/2006

If you want a memorable meal you should order the following:\r \r - Chicken Tikka Masala\r - Karahi\r - Allo Gobi\r - Daal Maash\r - Plain Rice\r - Plain Naan\r - Aloo Naan\r \r The flavors from these dishes compliment each other so well that your taste buds will love you. Unlike most restaurant meals, these dishes have their own unique flavor and texture but end up being just the right pairing--like gorgonzola cheese spread on a slightly tangy green apple. Trust me. Once you have this meal, you'll be craving it at least weekly! Pros: Service, Ambience, Food Quality and Selection Cons: Parking more

Casual atmosphere with great service! 10/22/2006

We showed up at 7:00 on a Saturday night with no reservations, and the place was empty! A little disappointing, but our experience made up for it! The atmosphere is bright and casual, and the service was fantastic! We brought our 2-year old, and the staff was VERY accommodating and friendly. Ordered garlic naan, veggie pakora, curries, chicken tikka masala, and all was good. Not fantastic, but very good. There is a liquor store across the street, and Rotee allows you to bring in wine with no corkage fee. We would go again! Pros: prices, friendly service more
