Bad Work Ethics 5/27/2018

About a month ago my transmission failed. The shop I usually go to offered to just replace the entire setup. My wife suggested I find a cheaper solution. So she researched and found this place.I headed over there and Gary was a nice as he could be. He said he could rebuild it, and it'll take him a week. No problem, we'll just rent a car for a week and it'll be fine. Two weeks pass. We call to check up on the car, turns out he hasn't really started on it. He just started taking it apart and verifying the problems. Which is ok, that just meant we had to keep paying for this rental. We asked could he see why our air conditioner leaks, and he said no problem..cool. A week pass, my wife calls. He states he hasn't found the problem for the air conditioner, but upcharged us for the part he put on and didnt seem to work. So we gave him another week. By this time we've paid $1,1,00 on a rental. We asked him can I just pay him on my next pay period which is every two weeks anyway. I figured by that time everything should be working. He was reluctent to do so, but proceeded to agree. After that phone call, he never talked to us again. He doesnt pick up our phone calls. We called from a different number and he picks up immediately, but instead of talking to us he claims he's in the bank at 5:45pm? Ok, sure. We think he's upset because we pushed the date back, but he's not realizing if he wouldve just stuck to his promise and finished in the time stated in the beginning, there wouldve been no reason for me to drop a $1000 for a rental, and I couldve just paid him and been on my way.So why is he mad because we had to adjust a date according to his work ethics? The funny thing is, we were actually calling him to tell him we wanted to pick it up sooner. We don't even know if he's done, or he's just giving us the run around. The irony is if I just would went to the repair shop I normally went to, they wouldve just replaced it and I wouldve had my car asap, I wouldve paid more but considering the money I'm wasting on a rental wait more
