I would highly recommend Dr. Rosenthal. Upon walking into his office, I was greeted by friendly staff. It was also one of the most thorough exams I've ever had in my life. You can tell that he has a deep understanding (AND PASSION) of neurology! He treated me like a patient, not just another number. He gained my trust very quickly and I will be going back. He's a Top Notch caring Dr. which is rare to come by in the city these days. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/9/2012

I was recommended to Dr, Rosenthal by a general surgeon friend of mine and have been a neurology patient for several years. I have found Dr. Rosenthal to be extremely thorough and professional. His office staff has been equally helpful and cooperative in dealing with insurance, office visits and other requirements. Recently, I had severe lower back pain and was treated with the standard regimen of medicine and an epidural. Very quickly I began to lose strength and feeling in one leg and needed an immediate operation, which was confirmed by my radiologist son-in-law. Dr. Rosenthal arranged for a timely consultation with a highly qualified neurosurgeon at a major hospital and I was operated on within several days. It is now four weeks post operation and I am walking normally and am 85-90% back to normal.\r \r Throughout this period Dr. Rosenthal was always available to assist me and to answer my questions. In addition, he followed up on my progress on a regular basis. \r I would highly recommend him for his neurological and internal medicine skills as well as his compassion.\r more

I have been going to Dr. Rosenthal’s office for over 5 years on and off for a back problem I have developed. I honestly have never felt more trust in a doctor in my entire life. You are always given 100% of his attention and at this point I really feel like Neil is part of my family. I have recommended his service to family and friends and they only have the best to say about him. \r \r Exceptional service from Dr. Rosenthal.\r more

What ever happened to LISTENING? 12/19/2011

If he is so good, any reason why he can't seem to listen? Have never, ever met a more arrogant doctor. I don't care how good he is. A great doctor cares enough to listen not just orate. Go elsewhere. NYC is full of neurologists. Too bad I have to give him one star ... he doesn't deserve it..even waiting room is disgusting. more

Incredible compassionate professional physician 6/7/2011

Dr. Rosenthal is one of the most professional, compassionate, and perceptive medical professionals I have the good fortune to have provide care for me. I am a registered nurse. I came to Dr. Rosenthal on the recommendation from my primary physician. Dr. Rosenthal ran a series of necessary tests. The leap from good M.D. to incredible M.D. was how he also looks at the patient, not just the test results. His keen perception and knowledge saved me from possible intubation and winding up on life support. After a relatively short hospitalization I am well on the road to recovery. more

Saved me from back surgery twice (7 years apart) 11/14/2010

If I didn't see Dr Rosenthal I would have been pushed into 2 unnecessary surgeries by other doctors (7 years apart).\r He did recommend surgery in a third instance when there were no other options and I had a complete, yes complete recovery. \r I wouldn't take a chance with anyone else.\r His assistant Nicole is top notch as well. She's a pleasure to talk to, squeezed me into an appointment when necessary, and I had absolutely no insurance issues or confusion.\r Couldn't be more pleased.\r more

excellent doctor 8/14/2010

If you need to see a neurologist, see Dr. Rosenthal. He's friendly, down to earth, thorough, and knows his stuff. Within a few days of meeting him he had completed all the tests I needed, diagnosed me properly (something that my primary doctor and another neurologist I saw before seeing Dr.Rosenthal hadn't done), and treated me successfully. I had had a serious problem, and I am completely well again. His secretary is also super. She is fantastically efficient - got my tests authorized by my insurance company while I was in the office, and fully explained my insurance coverage to me so that I knew what what my financial responsibility was going to be before I went for the tests (Quite frankly, my coverage is so complicated , I didn't fully understand it before she explained it to me.) Anyway, the whole experience in Dr. Rosenthal's office was top notch and I recommend him without reservation. more

If you want to be mistreated talk to the Dr's assistant. 7/20/2010

I truly wish I could rate my experience a zero. Alas, Citysearch will not let me. I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Rosenthal at the suggestion of a friend. The Dr. (or his assistant, rather) rescheduled my appointment once, without a 24 hrs notice. Then, when I could not make it, I received a sourly response (meanwhile, I was absolutely nice when they failed to give ME a 24 hr notice). We rescheduled the appointment, and I jumped through all the hoops his assistant requested just so she could allow me to see him. I went as far as involving my insurance to ensure that they knew the services would be covered. At the last minute, the assistant refused to deal with me or the insurance company (they are within network!). The assistant's behavior is absolutely disgusting (this is putting it mildly). She is uncaring and unhelpful, and I truly felt like an inconvenience every time I dealt with her. I am sorry, but you are in the business of patient care, act like it. I cannot vouch for the Dr., but his face (the one who interacts with patients on a daily basis) speaks volumes. Go elsewhere. It is not worth the hassle, specially if you are dealing with a delicate medical situation that calls for the least amount of stress possible. Pros: None that I could glean Cons: The assistant gives medical practitioners a bad reputation more

Caring office took good care of me 11/10/2009

Very caring and knowledgable office took excellent care of me. The docttor took his time with me and his secretary was very kind and understanding. I never felt rushed, but did feel like I was in very good hands. Glad I didn't have to return, but, if I did, I'd go back to Dr. Rosenthal at any time. Pros: Doctor and Staff are superb Cons: no weekend hours more

This office is top notch 6/23/2009

Front desk girl got me in really quickly. Got authorization and appointment for my MRI while I waited only 15mins! The doctor was EXTREMELY THOROUGH (never had an exam like that in my life). The doctor was very polite and caring. I felt very comfortable as his patient. Overall, I'd recommend anyone to this doctor and am greatful that I was referred to him. Pros: Quickly got appointment, tests, and results Cons: No late evening or weekend appointments more

appreciative patient 3/19/2009

Dr. Rosenthal's examination was the most thorough I have ever had in my life, in any doctor's office. HIs knowledge base is amazing. He diagnosed my problem quickly and I am cured! His secretary was also amazing. Got my all my tests approved by my insurance company and scheduled them for me immediately, while I was still in the office. American medicine can still work! Pros: friendly and efficient staff, top notch doctor Cons: no evening appointments more

New Medical Assistant needed in office. 3/4/2009

Dr. Rosenthal is a very good at what he does, and i appreciate his concern for me, and I trust he will help me with my problem, I am having. Only his secretary or whatever her title is is not very nice, and is not very understanding and doesn't listen. I feel Dr. Rosenthal need another assistant which is caring and concern about the patient she or he is speaking with patient over the phone, and her she should be kind , She cuts the conversation short and puts you on hold. I will remain a patient and get the results I need with speaking ONLY to Doctor Rosenthal. Thank you GD Pros: A Great Doctor indeed !!! Cons: Medical Assistant more

Glad I saw this doctore 6/24/2008

Got an appointment the same day I called and didn't wait long when I arrived. The staff was very helpful and sensitive to my concerns. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort. I was pretty nervous of what the doctor would say too. But the doctor was very smart and sensitive to my issues and concerns. I am greatfull to him and to my family doctor for referring me to him. Pros: No wait time. Great bedside manner. Cons: I wish I saw him first, instead of for a second opinion. more

excellent doctor 5/31/2008

Smart and knowledgeable doctor. Amazingly thorough examination. Very efficient secretary. She got all my tests authorized and scheduled within two days. Definitely diagnosed me properly. Treatment was quick and effective. I'm very thankful to Dr. Rosenthal. If you have a difficult neurological problem, as I did, he's the doctor you want to see. Pros: smart and knowledgeable doctor Cons: sometimes difficult to get through on the telephone more

Negative experience 5/30/2008

Similar negative experience w the staff and with doctor. Dr Rosenthal only had a few minutes to see me every time I came. He sent me back to my referring doctor as he couldn't come up with a diagnosis after the second or third visit - said he had never seen my symptoms before. more

very good doctor 4/17/2008

Knows his stuff. Very smart. Very confident. Very efficient. Very articulate. Very straight forward. Maybe not for everyone, but for me, very very good. Immediately knew what my neurological problem was, and what to do for it. I got better very, very quickly after having had my problem for over 4 months before I saw Dr. Rosenthal. My advise is don't have a neurological problem, but if you have one, see this doctor. Pros: great doctor Cons: can be hard to get though to the office: phone is often busy more

lucky patient 4/3/2008

I just saw Dr. Rosenthal for the first time last week, and then again this week. Wow - what a great doctor. My doctor told me he was great and he was right. After listening to my symptoms, he gave me the most unbelievably detailed exam (which, by the way, was a lot of fun), and then went into his room to review some old records which I had brought. When he came back to the exam room to talk to me he explained to me exactly what I had , and what needed to be done to treat it. It's only one week later and my treatment isn't yet over, but I am already feeling 80% better. Before seeing Dr. Rosenthal I had already seen 2 other specialists, one of whom was another neurologist, and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with me - one of them actually said those exact words to me. Anyway, if you're got a neurological problem, see Dr. Rosenthal - he's a great diagnostician. Also, his secretary is a great - smart and efficient. Pros: great diagnostician more

If you want good healthcare you'll see Dr. Rosenthal. He and his secretary make a great team. 3/31/2008

I was very satisfied with the care given to me by Dr. Rosenthal. He was VERY detailed and explained everything to me. I was given a diagnosis that frightened me but Dr. Rosenthal calmed my fears and, with me, developed a treatment plan that was right for me. I feel confident that I am on the right path to recovery. The network of specialists that he uses are great too. I am very greatful to his secretary too. She was very understanding and although the waithing room was full, she got me in to seehim and I was never treated like a burden or like a favor was being doing for me. I was treated with patience, courtesy, and respect. I have a follow-up scheduled with him and am very comfortable in returing. I know that I am in good hands. Thank you Dr. Rosenthal and staff!!! Pros: The doctor and staff show care and concern. Little wait time. Cons: wish he was closer to my home. more

Going elsewhere 3/21/2008

I would swear the review written by ""yourangel"" was me. Everything they said is exactly right! The receptionist is very surly- almost intimidating- and Dr. Rosenthal talks really fast and spends no more than 5 minutes with you. Yes you will get in quick but you will be out just as fast and while sometimes I do appreciate it, other times you want to ask questions and you get the feeling the doctor can't be bothered because he knows other people are waiting. \r \r I've decided to go elsewhere even though Dr. Rosenthal's office is so convenient for me. It's too bad but I guess I just have higher standards and refuse to feel like I'm at the DMV as opposed to being at my doctor's office to help me with my medical situation. Pros: Wait time is short and good magazines in the waiting area Cons: Staff makes you feel like you're a burden; doctor gives perception of not having much time for you more

Great Doctor 3/20/2008

I was surprised by the attention that we received by Dr. Rosenthal and his staff. I was very pleased with the service that my father received. My father is suffering from memory loss due to a motor vehicle accident and Dr. Rosenthal was very patient and explained everything in detail. I highly recommend Dr. Rosenthal and am confident that my father is on his road to recovery with Dr. Rosenthal's help. more
