If you could give a half a star I would rate this 5 and 1/2 stars. I just think that 5 stars has to mean absolutely the best ever. We visited the Baja Coast this past February, and the food at Rosa Mexicano was better than any place we ate in Mexico. more

Great Mex 10/4/2010

The service was impeccable. Family fun, quesadillas and an amazing red sauce along with beverages from Mexico. She did a wonderful job explaining the menu and the origin of certain food from their region of Mexico. The corn tortillas are house made and incredible. A must see/eat. more

Overrated & Overpriced 10/30/2009

I went to Rosa Mexicano for the first (and last time) and left feeling really disappointed. For starters, anyone who knows me knows I love Mexican food. But this place just didn't do it for me. The selection lacks in what I would consider authentic cuisine and tries too hard to be chic. We ordered our food and I couldn't get over how SMALL the portions were! AND how PRICEY these small portions were! We had a couple of drinks and 3 appetizers and our bill came out to $75! Worse, the food was just so so, not good and definitely not great.. as far as Mexican food goes, on the bland side. The worst part of it all? We were still hungry and craving some good food by the time we left. How sad is that? Cons: small portions, high prices more

Not a place for vegetarians 10/27/2009

Rosa has been my favorite mexican restaurant for 2 years now and I constantly rave about it and recommend it to friends. However I went to Rosa last Wed and was astonished with how bad their service was. I brought a very good friend of mine that was vegetarian and called beforehand to let them know that 2 of the people in our party were vegetarian. When we got there and got around to ordering, our waiter was extremely rude and unaccommodating. My friend asked for a quesidilla with her choice of filling she was promptly told that the chef would not accommodate requests not on the menu. We asked our server to check if the chef would make an exception considering she was vegetarian and there wasn't anything but a veggie starter on available on the menu. When he returned he said the chef agreed to make the vegetarian quesidilla however would charge us $28 (this was more than the meat entrees on the menu). We agreed to pay the additional and asked him if the dish would taste good, this was when he told my friend that since she was vegetarian everything would taste good. I was so angry at his comment! This is certainly the last time I'll be visiting Rosa or recommending it to anyone!! There are more than enough mexican restaurants in the city to never have to step into this establishment again. Cons: Bad service more

What a rippppppppppppppppppp 3/21/2009

So, I went here on a date. She had an enchalada dish with shrimp and i had somethign from the grill. My dish consisted of a skewer with chroizo sausage and beef, they probably used half a chroizo... So all in all it was 1 skweer with 4 beef cubes and 3 pieces of chroizo. For starters of course we had an order of guac, asked for it to be made spicy which was ok, they made it table side. Pros: good service Cons: super over priced more

Average 11/26/2008

I've been here once, not to say that the food was bad. The experience was so-so. I went with some pretty let's say experienced critics of food and they were unhappy about some menu items that were missing. more

Great Mexicano 8/25/2008

Rosa Mexicano and I started our relationship in 1996 and have been loyal to one another ever since. From the moment I arrive I know to start off with a La Suprema or two. A great atmosphere accompanied by delicous drinks, atmosphere and very friendly staff. Priced well and is great for meeting with clients or hosting special events. Pros: Great food more

Overall Amazing 7/30/2008

This is my first time ever writing a review but i thought this place deserved it. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. Definitly get the guacamole and try the crab stuffed enchiladas (delicious). An upscale mexican restuarant done right! Pros: Service and Food more

Very Average 11/26/2007

Cool scene, pretty good location but after that its pretty average. I expected a lot more based on other reviews. Service was ok. Price would have been ok if meal was better than average. Just had some really good Mexican food in San Diego and it was miles above this place. more

Wonderful! 12/16/2006

Rosa Mexicano is outstanding. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the staff is efficient and friendly. Try the Guacamole, Enchiladas de Mole Poblano, and the Sangria. I can't get enough of this place! Pros: Everything more

i remember reading about the caballeros eating filet mignon 11/20/2006

WAY WAY WAY overrated My gf took me here and the place was packed on a tuesday night. The guacamole i will say was very good. Margaritas were also pretty good but the food was insanly priced for mexican cuisine and was anything from authentic. Swordfish and filet mignon? who are they kidding. The black beans were obviously a can of goya black bean soup and so was the yellow rice, no flavor or sofrito or anything. Give me a piece of pork or something in the beans for a little taste. the service was good but it was obvious they wanted you out of there to sit the next couple quickly. Pros: guacamole, but you can make it yourself Cons: prices, wait, authentic food? i dont think so more

Great for Appetizers 11/12/2006

I've been to Rosa several times, sometimes for dinner sometimes just to sit at the bar and have appetizers. I had a much better eating experience sitting at the bar having a Corona and their fantastic fresh guacamole. The bar area can get very crowded later at night but it's perfect if you get there around 7. Pros: Guacamole! Cons: Usually crowded, pricy more

Delicious Mexican 11/2/2006

I thought this would be exactly like Dos Caminos but it surpringly is not. Don't get me wrong, Dos is my all time favorite place to eat But it was a pleasant surprise to dine at Rosa. The Pomegranate Margaritas are sooo good!!! The guac was great, not sure if as good as Dos. But the entrees were delicious!! so unique and authentic. The filet mignon in mushroom sauce and crabmeat enchiladas were scrumptious!! Pros: margaritas, guac, entrees Cons: this location was not as trendy more

Delicious food and desserts 10/13/2006

The food here is amazing and authentic. The servers are knowledgeable, acommodating, and very very nice. For dessert I had a tres leches, which was delicious and different than any tres leches I've ever had before. A tip for those who don't like tequila like me: Ask to see the dessert drinks menu, which includes some alcoholic beverages that don't contain tequila (All the drinks on the regular drink menu have tequila). Also, be sure to specify how you like your spice or if you prefer no spice at all - most dishes here are somewhat spicy! Overall, it was a delightful experience and I will definitely return. Pros: service, food, drinks Cons: None! I love this place more

Good drinks and good food 5/5/2006

Rosa mexicana had some pretty good margaritas and some unqiue and tastey mexican food. The appetizers were a little small but very good and recommended as were the main dishes. All of them come with the opt to make them spicer....don't use too much or you'll be paying for it later! Decor is nice and the service was on point. I found it a little odd that the male bathroom was all the way in the basement. Oh well. more

One of my favorite restaurants!! 5/2/2006

I have been to rosa mexicano numerous times and every time was a sheer delight! The food, service, ambience is impecable. I go as often as i can, it's a bit pricey but definitely worth it!! All you need is acceptional company to complete the experience. Pros: service is a 10, food is treat more
