BEST Los Angeles Jeweler 12/26/2010

it is a family own, they treat all their customers as if they were ""some kind of high-roller"". the quality is amazing, customers can make any picture you walk-in with. i always recommend rondels to everyone, and in the past they would mail holiday cards, which I would copy and pass them out to friends. . rondels is not for people who like shopping at mills like the R&Bros. stores, who puts price before quality, and personal touch. rondels has always made sure that everything in their store has the family personal touch. it is not just a ""ring,"" but a ""family ring."" WE LOVE RONDELS, and I hope they continue to operate their cute little store in the B&A building on Hill St. for many years to come. more

Highly recommended 3/4/2010

This place rocks. I don't know how else to put it. I have dealt with Rondel's several times over the past five years. When I first decided to pop the question to my now wife six years ago, I checked out many stores. The malls all had the name-brand stores, but the ring I wanted to was way out of my price range in those locations. After Rondel's was recommended to me, I made the trip into downtown Los Angeles to see for myself. It was some of the best advice I'd ever received.\r \r As soon as I walked in, the staff catered to me as if I was some kind of high-roller. They explained each piece of jewelry and were more than willing to work with me in designing a custom piece that only my soon-to-be wife would have. In spite of the amazing customer service and seemingly unreal prices, I decided to look around a little more just to make sure I was making the right move. Three hours later (after searching dozens of other stores in the jewelry district), I was right back in Rondel's. \r \r I found comparable rings to the one I wanted in the other stores, but the prices couldn't touch Rondel's. I picked out the stone (and they were more than patient in explaining every aspect of the diamond to me) and placed my order. For what I would have paid close to $10k for at Zale's, and even $7k for at other wholesalers, Rondel's knew my financial restrictions and matched a very high-quality stone to go with the set for only $5,000. \r \r A year later, when I finally got married, I lived in Seattle and was unable to make a trip to Rondel's to get a wedding band to match the complex engagement ring. I called the store and they told me to mail the ring to them. They would match it, meld the rings, and ship it back to me, all at an agreed upon price over the phone. A few weeks later, we had the ring back and it looked absolutely stunning. Even five years later, my wife still shows that thing off and always gets positive comments.\r \r Their amazing customer service doesn't stop there. While my wife was traveling in Europe, she accidentally damaged the ring and one of the sidestones was lost. We had the ring insured, so when she returned, I called Rondel's from Seattle and they told me to send it back and they would replace it...no questions asked. I paid for the repair up front and the insurance reimbursed me upon receipt. Two weeks later, the ring was back with a new stone and it looked brand new.\r \r I'm not sure why there are negative reviews for this company, but I have recommended Rondel's to all of my friends and family. I now live in Germany, but I can't wait to go back home to Los Angeles so I can surprise my wife with another gift from Rondel's. Pros: Great customer service, amazing selection more

22 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/5/2010

My husband and I have been coming to Rondel's Jewelry in the Los Angeles Jewelry District for 22 years. They have designed several wonderful pieces of jewelry for us, starting with my engagement ring in 1988. I have purchased so many customized pieces from them, it would be lengthy to list. But the best service I could return to them was when it came time for our sons to get married. We brought them to Rondels where Angie helped both of them to pick out wonderfully designed rings. More recently, my brother decided he would pop the question to his girlfriend on this upcoming Valentine's Day. I would never consider taking him anywhere else so off we went to Rondel's. He picked his engagement ring but then Raymonda, with so much patience and experience, brought out several diamonds of varying prices but all great quality and allowed him to decide for himself. His girlfriend has a 3.5 ring finger size so the ring had to automatically be customized for such a small finger. Raymonda told us she would have it ready in two weeks but it only took one. We pick it up later today and I can hardly wait to see the completed work of art. After sending numerous people here, bringing my two sons and now my brother, I realized I needed to tell anyone who is seriously looking for wonderful jewelry, that Rondel's is the place to shop. When I logged on to this site and saw a poor review, I couldn't believe what I had read. Again, we have been coming here for 22 years and bringing family and friends. I have never seen or received anything less than the most friendly and professional service. Their customer service is beyond reproach and I have never had jewelry be set wrong in 22 years. In fact, I once purchased a tennis bracelet from a major jewelry store in Claremont, CA before learning about Rondel's and had to have Rondel's reset the entire bracelet because of the problems it had from the original store. The true clencher was when Rondel's told me what they would have charged for a similar bracelet. I almost choked. We paid $3,000 and could have purchased the same bracelet from Rondel's for $1,000. I truly learned a huge lesson there. If you feel the jewelry is overpriced then shop comparisons. Mall stores cannot compare. Their pieces of jewelry might seem more affordable at first glance but once you start comparing size and quality, there is no comparison. Also when I took my brother, I wanted him to see some of the other jewelers in the district and we looked at a ring similar to the one he selected from Rondel's. There was no comparison. The quality was definitely at Rondel's as well as the best price. As far as the negative review, I can only think that there might have been some outside dynamics going on. I've worked as a photographer in the wedding business long enough to know that sometimes you just can't please someone, no matter how hard you try. But truly, I have never experienced any of the negative issues listed otherwise I would not have taken the time to drive up to LA several times a year for 22 years and then introduce my sons and brother to this business. Raymonda tells me and my husband that we are like her childeren. Truly, my husband walks in every time and refers to Raymonda as Mama. She greets us with a kiss and a hug coming and going. Whether you are shopping for a high-end diamond wedding ring or simply want some whimsical and fun earrings, Rondel's is definitely worth the drive to Los Angeles. If they don't have it, they can design and make it using only the finest diamonds, gemstones and precious metals and then offer it for a great price. As for us, we have become multi-generational customers and look forward to visiting Rondels frequently in the future. Pros: Excellent quality jewelry and great customer service! Cons: None - we wouldn't keep coming back otherwise more

I had great service! 1/25/2010

I don't understand the negative reviews. I had a great experience here. The owners were very kind to me and the work they did was awesome. Pros: Good value Cons: Don't park in the lot on weekdays $$$$$ more

Worst Customer Service, Poor Quality Jewelry 4/1/2008

I purchased my wedding band from Rondels. They had to re-do it multiple times due to poor workmanship. The first time, the diamonds were set unevenly and improperly and came loose from the setting. The owner, Raymonda is extremely rude and didn't accept any responsibility for the poor quality. The owner acts as if you are inconveniencing her by doing business in her store. Their excuse was that their ""regular"" diamond setter had gotten into a car accident and they were using someone else. A professional jeweler should ensure that they are using a qualified diamond setter given that jewelry is their livelihood. Their attempts to correct the ring were horrible. I can't believe that they actually allowed the ring to be released to me. The diamonds were set unevenly again and the imperfections were clearly visible to the eye. I finally gave up in having them fix the ring since it is clear that they are incompetent. I DO NOT recommend that anyone do business with Rondel's. You will be unhappy and end up paying more money to have your jewelry re-done. I took my ring to Icing On The Ring (HIGHLY recommended) and they fixed it. Icing On The Ring has great customer service and their workmanship is excellent. Pros: Variety of engagement rings Cons: Rude cusotmer service, poor quality more

Great quality/price and friendly 2/23/2008

We've been to several different jewelers in the downtown jewelry district and find this place has some of the best deals and great quality. When looking for a diamond ring, yes, the diamond is most important but the setting can add or subtract... this place only has quality settings, not the industrial types you find at other stores and websites (beware!). I purchased a 2 carat diamond engagement ring and wedding band that was still far cheaper than any website I could find. They are friendly and helpful as well. I have since sent two others there and both were very satisfied. I recently found out that my sister in law has been going there for years as well... coincidence but important to know that others have been going for years with satisfaction. Pros: Quality/price/service Cons: parking more

Rondels was horrible! 10/12/2005

I was initially impressed by the engagement ring my fiance bought there, but they made it bigger than the size he ordered. We had Rondel's resize the ring, and when they were finished, the ring was crooked. They fixed the ring again, and still it was not right. At this point, the owner rudely told me she would not do anything else for me. She argued with me and my fiance and told us to leave her store. The customer service at Rondel's is really horrible! Pros: Custom rings Cons: Bad customer service, Rude owner, Poor quality more
