Romano's Macaroni Grill is a very popular chain, so when my husband and I went to dinner for our anniversary, we were lucky not to have to wait. Unfortunately the rest of our experience had some more unpleasant surprises.
We were seated by the door, which is never nice, but the restaurant was pretty busy so we didn't complain. I think, however, that our location contributed to the less than stellar service we received. Our server seemed always in a hurry to get somewhere else, and only paused by our table on her way. The man who brought our food did the same. He started talking before he'd even got to our table, and pretty much dumped our plates in front of us.
The bread they serve is really wonderful, but I'd forgotten that they charge extra for salad, which seems a bit of a rip-off when you compare with Olive Garden. I ordered the Chicken Canelloni, which was heavenly, but my husband didn't really get what he was expecting. His entree was ok, but not great.
Next time we want a reliable Italian restaurant, we're going to Olive Garden.
