Riverwood Mansion

We wanted a place that inlcuded everything and we found it! We had the choice of an A La Carte (the reviewer below chose) that was just for the facility and we would have had to choose our rentals individually or a Package and the package inlcuded everything and at a reasonable price. We decided not to go with the A La Carte because we didn't like the idea of picking our own vendors (maybe that is why she paid $1000 for her cake- she choose her own) and rentals. I found Riverwood to be extremely fair. I'm not sure the lady that wrote the review below paid attention to the package she chose. When you choose A La Carte at a restaurant that means nothing comes with it. Go for the package, its awesome!! Pros: Everything included more

The wedding was great, but the hassle leading up to it left us wishing we had gone somewhere else. We were shocked at some of the hidden costs we incurred. Examples include: Ten dollars to rent a knife to cut the cake (We paid $1,000 for cake. Don't tell me you need ten more bucks to cut it!). We were charged for chairs that were not a part of the ceremony (never sat in), and the bride had to write a nine dollar check to have an extra pedestal brought out to set her mother's roses on. The numbers are small, but it is the headache of each additional charge after paying so much that is hard to deal with. Despite the appearance of all cost being included this is definitely not the case. Read your contract carefully, and expect to pay more. Riverwood's attention to detail, flexibility, patience, advice and helpfulness in organizing the reception and attending to my needs the ""day of"" made an extremely important moment in my life that much more special. I know there's no such thing as the ""perfect wedding day"", but there are ways to reach perfection. From the moment we toured the architectural treasure, we were captivated by its stately beauty and old southern charm. This alone made it a very desirable location worthy of consideration for my outdoor wedding, but the staff's professionalism and wedding coordination expertise, coupled with the hospitality we were shown, made Riverwood the obvious choice for our special day. All the meetings and phone conversations that transpired over the 17 months of planning were always enjoyable and the buidance and helpful hints proved to be invaluable during the planning stage. The beautiful plantings in the garden provided a gorgeous backdrop for the ceremony and the inside of the mansion and the outdoor pavilion created an elegant ambience for the reception. Just had to email and thank the Riverwood staff for assisting us in truly giving Tami and Alan the wedding of their dreams. Linda and Joyce were just angels to our entire family. It is difficult at times to make everyone from such extremely different backgrounds happy, but I believe with the southern charm everyone was pleased with the event. They made sure that my parents (mother in a wheel chair) were given special care and attention It was such a relief for me - I didn't worry about them and was able to greet all the guests during the evening. Please let the catere know how much we enjoyed the food. It was just a lovely evening from beginning to end. It will be a memory we will keep and treasure for a lifetime.
