A true Italian restaurant 5/6/2012

I recently attended a Slow Food event with Italian butchers here and had a wonderful time. They set up a grill outside and the smoky scent tantalized people for blocks around. While I haven't had a formal dinner, the bites I've had of Ristobar's food was delicious, and the wine selection was great as well. It was the perfect space to learn, socialize, and delight in tastes. The waiters and bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back for a full meal. more

Try somewhere else for food, the wine was good 10/13/2010

Love the redone restaurant! 5/13/2010

All I can say is YUM! I went here for dinner last night and everything we ordered was delicious. We started out with the butter lettuce salad, the crawfish pasta, the vesta pizza and ended with the bread pudding. I would recommend all of them! The service was impecible. The waiter even folded my napkin when I went to the restroom. I had never eaten here when it was Emporio Rulli but the new renovations and menu have made it a very appealing Marina restaurant. I will definitely be going back. Pros: Great service and food more

Chef's Opening left me spoiled and happy! 2/11/2010

Where to begin.....I love tasting menus since it gives you a flurry of wonderful flavours. I will start with the misto salad which was crisp and had a touch of dressing that complimented the mandarin orange slices. Next we were served the mushroom risotto I would have kept shoveling into my greedy mouth had they not taken the bowl away. Waiters kept coming with 4 different fired pizzas(a meatless w/ goat cheese & fresh piece of endive being my fave) and 3 exceptional foccacias hit the table. Never had zucchini foccacia before! Had it, LOVED it, dont' know it I will order anything else if that's on the menu. My companion thought the pizza selection was great since she likes meatless foods. Only one of the pizzas has meat. Moving on: prosciutto plates went by, they were wonderfully cured and tempered w/ just enough salt. They were also serving a very firm cheese, NO, it was downright hard. We did not care for it. The honey walnuts on the same platter were scrumptious. Then came an outstanding diamond shaped pasta dish w/ a mild tomato/meat sauce. It was delicate and we ate it slowly savoring every bite. \r \r DESSERT: My guest and I NEVER skip dessert...we were like giddy children anticipating it. We expected one, but THREE...THREE goodies....I should be mean and not tell and be selfish and keep it to myself......ok here goes: #1 the smooth panne cotta w/ hazelnut, mandarin & salt, #2 rum drenched cake w/ homemade whip, #3 MY PERSONAL FAVE, lemoncello cream w/ salty pistachio. There was also a nice wine menu. We tasted a prosecco, pinot grigio, & a pinot noir. I prefer a pinot & it was excellent.\r \r Some of the items mention above I noticed are not on the online menu. They will be having a seasonal menu, so it should be easy NOT to get bored. You will not be disappointed if you frequent Ristobar! Pros: DESSERT & WINE Cons: Take a cab, parking can be crazy on a busy night more

Excellent brunch 7/8/2009

I ate here for lunch last Saturday, the July 4th holiday. I was with my aunt and brother. I am guessing that the brunch menu we saw was a weekend/holiday menu rather than their regular lunch menu. We were seated right away, and the service was fairly prompt. I had the strawberry french toast. It was superb! They use brioche bread, cooked correctly and smothered with small strawberry bites and blueberries. It was topped with a large dollop of real whipped cream. They also provide maple syrup, but I didn't need any of it as there were plenty of berries and whipped cream to go with all four pieces of toast. My aunt and brother both had pannini sandwiches with the side salad, and they thought those were great. In particular, they thought the bread was really fresh and tasty. If this place had problems when it opened, it sure didn't seem like they were still having any last Saturday. Pros: high quality, well-made, delicious Cons: limited menu more

you will leave hungry 6/18/2009

I ate here just a few nights ago. the staff was very nice and even let me rearrange the furniture. The portions were so small, ive seen bigger portions on a kids menu. the food was good, just not nearly enough. 2 people and it was 85 dollars, which included a glass of wine and 3 beers. 5 dollar beers each, 8 dollar wine per glass. we had to eat later on that night. more

Classic Chic Italian Quick Service food! 12/21/2005

You cannot go wrong with their regional baked goods. The panini are average, but don't underestimate the food. The food is authentic and cooked as in mama's Italian kitchen. The food here is more authentic than its neighbor A16 right accross the street and there are no lines for dinner! It doesn't have the chi-chi atmosphere of A16, but it's got a more inventive Italian menu and chef. IMO, this is a real sleeper....wake-up Marina people! Pros: fast service, authentic, good Italian wines Cons: expensive pastries, more of a cafe feel more

Food as good as pastry 8/15/2005

I had been at Emporio Rulli Caffe when they first open and it was not very well together, my wife and I wanted to give them another chance and I'm glad we did, they have improved a great deal, at our arrival we both order a glass of wine and two minutes later the server arrived with a very nice mini tasting of buschettas on the house he mentioned, excellent detail. then we order the pasta with rabbit was excellent the pasta with squash good flavor very well done. very good job I hope they keep it up! Pros: good value, excellent food, great wine Cons: parking , cakes, to open more
