I have wanted to try chef Pedro Simental's previous restaurant (Devon) in Monrovia and I am thrilled that he opened this new restaurant in Whittier. We ate at Magaly's recently and discovered Pedro is truly an amazing chef and a very kind host. All of the dishes are surprisingly unique and wonderfully flavorful. Curried oysters are plump and exotically flavored by their spicy coating. Grilled calamari salad is delicate and smoky, drizzled with a perfectly creamy sauce. Prime aged beef filet is made even more flavorful with a wonderful port wine reduction. After dinner the warm and friendly chef came through the restaurant to chat with all the guests. It must be a challenge for him to offer such gourmet cuisine in Whittier. A couple dining near us took the time to tell Pedro that they preferred their salad with a more substantial dressing (like Kraft Thousand Island perhaps?).
Pros: Great value, Fantastic food, Wonderful sauces
