A/C Work, Highly Recommended 6/12/2011

I would recommend their A/C repair to anyone and will call them again for any repairs in the future. Our home warranty service provider sent out a different company when we reported a loud noise in the unit when it was turned on. The first company came out, dismantled the unit leaving us with no air conditioning in 99 degree weather, and gave a dishonest assessment of the problem resulting in the claim being denied. Upon submission of further info, the home warranty company sent out ARS for a second opinion at no charge to us. Even though ARS stood to make little money on the job, they were honest in their assessment and did the repair in a timely way. That kind of integrity is to be praised. Thanks to ARS and to Kevin who did the work. more

Great work 4/21/2011

I called ARS/Rescue Rooter, after a friend suggested them to me, before that I had a well known company give me an estimate that was very high for fixing a freon leak and recharging the system. The other company said it would take all day and they had to do a lot of tests to find the leak. ARS/Rescue Rooter team found the leak right away, fixed it and recharged my unit for a fraction of what I would have paid the other guys. It was wonderful finding someone who is honest and has great work ethics, will definitely use this company again! more

Do not have doubts when dealing with these guys. You can rely on them, ARS/Rescue Rooter are professionals. I called this company about a month ago because some problems with my air conditioning system they showed on time inspected the problem and in a matter of minutes solved it. I just love watching professionals doing there job. Highly recommended! more

Never Again 12/14/2009

Very nice receptionist made an ""appointment"" for us the very day I called. So, my husband rushed to be home for 3pm. At 3:05, after returning from the reception area at my office, I realized I had missed a call on my cell. I returned the call and was told ""sorry, you missed our call, we can no longer service you today"" I was amazed and asked if no one answered the door. Was told, ""oh we never go until you answer the phone"" I protested, you called only a few minutes ago and the retort was ""it was 5 minutes ago!"" The upshot is: you don't have an appointment even though you are accomodating them by having someone at home. IF for heaven's sake, you don't pick up the phone immediately, you are out of luck. The did offer to reschedule for the next day, but I had already had my fill of ARS. Pros: Nice receptionist? Cons: No follow through more

Had ARS come out to my house 3 different times to repair a shower head leak that was causing secondary damage, and 3 different times to repair a leak in the plumbing/drain in the guest bathroom. After the first Tech failed to do anything other than shine thier flashlight around and tell me the problem was not in the plumbing... a third Tech (we requested a master plumber) was dispached and was able to locate the leaks, fix the problems, and was friendly and knowledgeable. Mind you, this has taken place over the past 6-8 months and these problems should have been fixed the first time, causing much less damage to my property. Pros: Communication Cons: Inconsistant quality of work. more

Advise against Using ARS 5/1/2009

I am not usually one to write a review, but feel like people need to know about this company. I was advised ahead of time that there would be a $79 charge for coming out, then I would be told of any extra charges before the work would be completed. They showed up, took my AC unit apart, and didn't find a problem. After checking around he decided the fan wasn't working, but it had been... the problem was something else. I think he forgot to reconnect the wire in his first round of tests. Anyway, he reconnected a wire, then after he did the work told me there would be an extra $80 charge on top of the service call for reconnecting a single wire. It did not fix the problem because it was not what was wrong. I called and complained, they sent someone out the next day free of charge but would not refund the extra charges for NOT fixing anything. The guy the second day couldn't figure it out and only recomended replacing everything. They charged me service charge + repair and didn't fix anything. Bad customer service and too big of a company with too much overhead to be able to offer decent prices. I advise going somewhere else. more

ARS Service 4/27/2009

I have been using ARS for a few years now. I read the other reviews this morning because they popped up when I searched for the phone number. I had used the plumbing service to have a leaky faucet repaired a few months ago. ( I highly recommend anyone with a leak of any kind to get it fixed immediatly because when we did we saved hundreds of dollars on our next water bill!) Anyway ,I went to use it this morning and I could not turn it off. I called the phone number which connected me to dispatch and they were here in about an hour and a half. The work was completed and there was no additional charge. I know it is frustating to have work done, pay good harded earned money and then have problems with the work. But I think sometimes we blame the first person we talk to and get mad at the situation and our anger escalates from there. I think if we all take a moment and realize we are all human and we all make mistakes it will give you insight to be kind to the people trying to help you and then inturn you help yourself and improve the outcome. more

No real customer service for already installed work 7/14/2008

I never write reveiws, however this is unbelieveable. I have no idea how the company stays in buisness. I have tried to reach customer servide to explain a few problems. I never get a return calls even though I leave my name and phone number. I even tried to speak to other managers with no returned phome calls. I certainly paid for the service and expected ARS to be accountable as their mission statement states. I see by other reveiws that I am not alone regarding my negative experience. I wish I had known other people were unsatisfied with this company. My salesman told me if I wanted extra work that they have an individual he contacts at the city of Austin to perform the inspection. I should have realized then something was very wrong with the company's business practices. I hope this reveiw helps others looking for an air conditiong company. Cons: Cusomer service is non- existant to follow up on problems. more

Did not fix problems and customer service is awful 7/11/2008

The repairmen who came to our home were very nice. The quality of the work was pretty bad. We had numerous problems with the installation and we paid for the top of the line units. Working with the customer service rep was a nightmare. What ever happened to the customer is right and standing behind your work. Things as simple as returning phone calls and fixing mistakes did not happen. We bought the system believing ARS stood behind its work. The sales man was really good at convincing us we would be satisfied but we are not. I will never use this company again and would never refer anyone else to ARS. more

Poor service 7/10/2008

My experience with ARS has been very negative. I spent a large amount to have air conditioning and heating units installed. Numerous mistakes were made by the work people and ARS's customer service is unresponsive to the matter. I am having to take additional steps to deal with this issue. I would not recommend this company to anyone in the area. Pros: On time Cons: Inexperienced work persons and poor customer service more

Worst customer service 7/7/2008

I can't about to the actual repair guys yet becuase I haven't gotten to that stage yet. However, the scheduling person at ARS is terrible. She was supposed to call to schedule an appointment this morning but didn't call me. I called and left two voice mail messages and she didn't call me. I *finally* got a hold of her (by calling a 3rd time) and she was rushed, rude and hung up on me as I was trying to confirm that an appointment had been made. She hung up!! I would use someone else, but I'm stuck with ARS because of the home warrenty that I have. My advice: don't use ARS!!! more

ARS - Good Service - Bad Prices 12/29/2007

Three days after Christmas my heating unit went out. I was impressed that I was able to get a tech dispatched within 2 hours of my call. The service call cost $60. The tech arrived in a timely manner and was very professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem. I needed a new circuit board. I was charged $560. I was disappointed to learn later on that the mark up on the circuit board was nearly 110 percent of on-line retail cost. Now my house is warm and it is cold outside. However, I doubt that I will do business with ARS again. I got what I paid for (and then some). I figure that I was in need and they took advantage of that need fair and square. Likewise, I figure that by posting this critique that I will save other Austinites money and in the long run ARS might want to rethink their pricing scheme. I think in the long run their existing policy will cost them considerably more than the profit they made off of me and my family. Pros: Professional Cons: The mark up on parts is off the chart! more

Beware of extra freon needed 10/3/2007

I had my A/C repaired and the technician poked a hole in the unit and that was how he visually checked my system. When asked how he knew my coils were clean, he claimed they were clean because I told him my brother told me so! Yeah, my brother who is not a tech said they looked clean the month prior. Then the fee was 150 extra for 1/4 pound of FREON.. I was told my unit needed the extra freon to work properly. . I think they need to rethink that poke the hole unit inspection and the bill that I thought would be 79.95 with a 15% discount cost over 210. If the coils were dirty or there was a leak I was told it would cost hundreds to clean or repair. They did not check for any leaks either!?. more

Awful customer service 7/12/2007

After recieving a bid for a job on a new A/C unit from ARS I was excited about getting the new unit, I was told he would get it from his distributor and it could be installed that week but after a week went by I called them to see when it would get here and was told the model I was looking at was still unavailable. I called again about another week and was told they did not make that unit anymore. Everything else of course was much more expensive, I told him I didn't want to pay more than the original bid, which is a contract once it is singed... and he told me he would look into what he could get for me. I was never called back and even when I call them I get transfered to the guys voicemail and he won't call me back. I know he underbid the job and is now just avoiding me... very unprofessional. I recomend going elsewhere. more
