Best restaurant in Dallas 8/31/2010

My girlfriend and I came here for restaurant week. While I have had drinks at the bar previously, neither she nor I had ever dined here. Upon our entry, Adam, the host, made us feel very welcome and sat us in the main dining room. After our water glasses were filled, we were greeted by Susan, our waitress for the rest of the evening. more

I have NEVER had anything like this!! 12/18/2008

This restaurant and its staff are the most amazing combination in exquisite dining I have ever seen. The service was impeccable, the food was something I'd only dreamed of, and the ambiance was divine! No matter where you sit in the Mansion restaurant you will be pleased however, I highly recommend reserving the Chef's Room. You pay more but it is so very worth it! We left feeling MORE than satisfied, knowing we got exactly what we paid for. We plan to go back regularly. If you're thinking of going to this restaurant, you won't be sorry! Although, once you get there and experience it for yourself, you'll be sorry you didn't discover it sooner! Pros: Service, staff, ambience, food, the Chef. Cons: NOTHING! more

One of the top hotels in Dallas 11/14/2008

The mansion is really nice and they take care of everything. It is definitely pricy but I would say it is worth it as a splurge hotel. Dallas does not have a real central area or geographic feature that hotels need to be near to be nice, the Mansion just tries to take care of everything you might need and make itself nice that way and it really does a good job. Pros: Really great service Cons: Expensive more

A hugh disappointment, poor service, poor food 11/8/2008

My family went to the restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. Although reservations had been made far in advance, they had no table set up for us. We were told there was no room in the main dining room so they put us on the enclosed porch. Men were power washing the porch and the furniture and we asked not to be seated there. The hostess looked annoyed and took us back to the main room, which had several empty tables,. and we were made to wait while they set one up. My daughter ordered the serveche which was a small portion, and it had shells of some kind in it. My husband ordered the spinach salad and scallops. The server told him the spinach salad was ""huge"" so he would split it to share. He did so. The split portions were extremely small. My husband's scallop dish turned out to be 3 scallops swimming in a miso. I ordered the salmon club sandwich which had minimum filling served on untoasted soggy bread. My son had to ask time and again for condiments for his hamburger. After all of this, the highlight of the meal was saved for the end. My husband, seeing some small chocolates (about the size of a dime) being brought to another table, asked if ""the birthday celebrant"" might have one. He was told that ""those are not for everyone."" He persisted and the server brought one to our table ,admonishing my husband not to let anyone know about getting the treat. Contrast this with the Capital Grille where we had had lunch the previous day and were treated like royalty. The Mansion Restaurant, in food and service, is of less quality than many chain restaurants I have been to. A huge disappointment!! more

fabulous experience all around - delicious!!! 6/18/2008

My boyfriend and I recently had dinner at The Mansion and absolutely LOVED it! It is such a beautiful restaurant. We sat in the sun room looking out onto tress filled with intricate lanterns. It was so romantic. The service was exquisite and seamless. Each course was perfectly timed and we always had everything we needed without being interrupted by a lot of conversation and questions. It was one of the best meals we've ever had - unbelievable filet minion. Everything was so delicious. I loved all the ice cream flavors and the great presentation. Two thumbs up and five stars for sure!! more

The Mansion at Turtle Creek is the Best!! 6/13/2008

Mansion at Turtle Creek is a wonderful evening for any couple! We have not been in awhile, but Dean is the best, and the Mansion will always be 5 stars in my book!! Keep it up! Pros: Food & Service 5 starts+ Cons: Price is a bit high, but hey you get what you pay for! more

Extremely disappointed in recent Mansion visit. 4/10/2008

We have been patrons of The Mansion since it opened. Last Monday we brought a friend to lunch for the first time since the remodeling and the chef change. There are no delineations on the menu as to what is an appetizer and what is an entree. Our party ordered the grapefruit and avocado salad, the white truffle pasta and the hamburger. The salad was only an appetizer portion and, while very fresh and flavorful, hardly satisfying as an entree. The pasta was also a very small portion and the hamburger was overcooked. Two desserts were ordered and again, while very tasty, were not worth their price. All told, our bill was $135.00 and we all left hungry. The new decor is pleasant, but not that much of an improvement over the previous and there is no linen on any of the tables or the bowls of fresh roses that used to adorn each table. Over all, we were extremely disappointed and will probably not return until we hear of some major changes being made. Pros: Service is attentive. Pleasant atmosphere. Cons: Few menu selections, small portions, very expensive for what you get. more

Annoyed 2/28/2008

My wife and I had a tradition of going to the Mansion every year for her birthday. This last year, after the remodeling, we went to the Mansion for dinner, me dressed in a suit and my wife in a dress (per their orders). We arrived and there were men without jackets on, which we had specifically been told that men could not dine without jackets. Annoying. Then we were seated next to a table with a 2 year old child, in his high chair. Throughout the dinner, the child acted like 2 year olds do. The food was not as wonderful as we remembered it and our dinner experience was terrible. It's my opinion that when you dine at a five star restaurant that requires dresses and suits, that being sat next to a small child is unacceptable. If I wanted to dine next to noisy children, I'd go to Chili's. When my wife and I told the maitre d' about this, he only stated that they had to accommodate their hotel guests. Needless to say, we were disappointed in the overall experience and will not be returning to dine at this restaurant. more

The very best hotel in Dallas 8/16/2007

I wanted to share our wonderful experience at the Mansion on Turtle Creek with everyone. This is a high end hotel but very warm and friendly. Shane the bellman made sure to give us each a bottle of cold water when we were retriving our car. One day the battery on our car died and Mary, the concierge, quickly came to our aid making an annoying situation as pleasant as it could be. We loved the afternoon sugar cookies in the Lobby each day. Not to mention the wonderful bed and bed linens - we actually inquired into buying a mattress. And we loved the the full size Lady P amenities in the room. The entire staff was so welcoming that it was hard to leave. Can't wait for our next stay. more

Absolute best restaurant in Dallas 7/12/2007

We did not know that the main dining room was closed for renovations. But what a wonderful experience anyway. They have set up the dining room in temporary space and it was delightful. Absolute Perfection 8/31/2006

The Mansion, inside and out, was absolutely elegant and extravagant. The restaurant offers complimentary valet parking. Water options include Evian, Pellegrino, or regular. Service was absolutely impeccable, we must have been waited on by at least half a dozen different people. Silverware was changed out for each course and food was served course after course without hardly any delay. Awesome wine list. Memorable dishes include chicken tortilla soup and lobster tacos. And you get complimentary cookies in your car when you get it back from the valet guys! Pros: Service, food Cons: Expensive more

Special Birthdays 5/23/2006

The food is wonderful whether you are having cocktails in the cozy bar (order the multi-level tray of appetizers), or in the (dress code engorced) fine dining room. Chef Dean has moved on, but has trained this staff. His Lobster Taco, and Burgundy Pork Chop are wonderful. Tell them it is a birthday when making the reservation, and when you order desert they do it special. They will write Happy Birthday at the top of the plate, and your name at the botton in liquid chocolate. Special for you. Cozy, old world charm. Just classy. Service is wonderful. IOne of my fave places for cocktails, or dinner. I have never seen waiters in cowboy boots (must ahve been special), or been rushed or hovered over. I live in Dallas so I go there once a year or more. Great location to begin an evening of entertainment. Pros: Great Food, Top Notch Service, Great City Location Cons: Expensive Treat more

Save your money! 6/29/2005

We chose to dine on Chef Dan Fearing's renowned food on Valentine's Day and had the special five-course menu. The Mansion itself was a disappointment-it consisted of a ""Mansion"" with a pastel-colored tower grafted onto its side! TACKY! As for the restaurant, the food and service was terrible. We felt both hurried and rushed...they were hovering, and tried to take our plates away three times while we were still eating! We had planned a special night lingering over a special meal but were hustled in and out the door in slightly more than an hour! The food was, in a word, awful. The predominant seasoning in all of the savory dishes was salt! The damage? In excess of $450 for the two of us - the single most expensive meal that I have had, and one of the worst. SAVE YOUR MONEY and TIME! Cons: Expensive, Terrible food, Just plain bad more
